Ar, I thought you were going to this show? ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
HAHA! I had no idea y'all thought he had no hair under thar! He's got a really thick head....................................... of hair, so it's even funnier!
that is the first time I have seen a pic of Clay without a hat, from videos to pictures to in person....not to shabby Mr. D! ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
Wow, ask a question,go to work ,come home and check our fav band message board....did we open a can of worms or what??? Really ,that subject matter was handled beautifilly. Thanks Clay.Next time I see the band I know how to get Daryl's attention!!!!!DARYL.....YOUR ON FIRE....

Too chime in on the Daryl topic...I used to wonder about his enjoyment in the early days. We went to the Bamboo Room to see them and before the show the band was mingling around the room and Daryl was up against the wall by himself so I went up and said hello and shook his hand. I thought he was gonna come unglued, he barely looked at me.I understood then that he is extremely shy! My wife said bless his heart :)
Oooooh...I just discovered some pics from the show from "playindead" on flickr. These make mine look so amateurish (well I never said I was a pro!) that I'm ashamed to even put any more of mine up. This cat IS a pro.
The slide show has shots from Mule, Outformation and of course JJ Grey & Mofro.
Always an honor and a pleasure when Jimbo checks in y'all. We should thank you!
Damned if I didn't have 4 hats with me and there I sit with my head nekked.
Giggles...while I agree wholeheartedly, the hot weather made the same difference for JJ and his boots as it does for Daryl and his cords. It didn't matter. He ALWAYS wore boots. No, this is some sort of purposeful change. Either his feet are bad from all those years of stomping around in boots on stage, or he likes the sneakers better cause it's easier to move around and dance like he's doing so much more of. Hell, he jumps up and down during songs and he didn't do that too often in his boots!
UHollis...ain't that something? Me, TW, Liz, JohnDude and Beaufro were going thru the parking lot at our hotel, on the way to the car to head for the show, and one of them spotted that sticker and said "That's Daryl!" It was a car with GA plates and had no other stickers on it, just that one.

that is one cool sticker and is most certainly looks like Daryl!! ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
Re: the boot conspiracy....I aint’ buying the dancing theory- any boot wearer knows its waaay easier to dance in boots then rubber soled shoes ---------- ~Music is what feelings sound like~
What a time!!!!! i love all you guys! Great pics clayfro! haha..... really like the see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil pic....and yes, i refuse to be humble and claim the sighting of the daryl bumper sticker! this must have been a pic of him at age 13! lol....giggles we missed ya! speedy recovery...you're in my prayers! can't wait to see ya'll very soon peace and love be@ufro
What's up all you mofro heads? I had a fantastic time at the show and it was great to meet so many wonderful people. Hats off to Clay and his TrophyWife. Not only does he have this incredible site, he and is wife are incredible people. It was great seeing Liz and JDude again as well as meeting Beaufro . . . good times had by all. I was really bummed to hear that giggles couldn't make it but I hope your recovery is going well. Sorry I missed Swamp Cracka but I was wearing my camo/jso hat!
I would of liked to hang with you all more but the bands captured me right up front even though I missed saying hi to JJ and everyone. The Mule set was fantastic as I loved the 32/20 Blues with JJ and Cody. Hill Country Revue just about stole the night for me. They were On Fire as JJ says. I was really hoping JJ would come out and play or at least Art and Ed! But I got to tell ya, Warren brought the house down with HCR. He was even blowin' and shakin' his own fingers . . . absolutely smokin'
Thanks for posting all of those pics and videos. I have a few from that night as well as a couple from Midtown '03 that I'll try to post. If is doesn't work, then I'll have to try again.
Can't wait to see ya'll again.

notfadeaway....thanks for the Music Midtown '03 memories, that was a great weekend. Wasn't that the year Dylan played and it stormed like crazy for about a half hour before he came on? Nasty lightning and people we standing under trees....and they all looked at me like I was some kind of lunatic when I told them they REALLY shouldn't be standing under trees during a lightning storm.....I thought EVERYONE knew that!!
Yes sir Stan, that is correct . . . NEVER stand under a tree during lightning. We went back to my truck since there were free beers there and was away from trees then went back to watch Dylan close that night out. We had to practically crawl through the mud for it was so thick.
Outformation was kick-ass UHollis; started the all around perfect day of music out nicely. I can't wait to listen to those shows again! habit1973 got a superb recording of the Mule. If the others don't show up soon, I'll have to get them from my buddy who was also at HCR. I'll let you know.
Here's a couple of links for Outformation:

Just catching up on this thread, yep it was great meeting notfadeaway y'all. He's a great guy, huge music fan, lot of fun. We enjoyed spending time with him and fishNchip before the show at Manuel's.
Also I've been remiss in giving a special shout out to 3 very special friends. For those of you that missed it, I'll hit the highlights: I lost my car key and cell phone at the Masquerade sometime during the Hill Country show. Of course I didn't know it til we got to the car. Fortunately we were parked next to JohnDude so we all piled in his car to the hotel.
The next day JohnDude, Elizabeth, Beaufro and my trophy wife all went over to the Kroger where we parked and re-traced our steps to the Masquerade and even looked around there.
After not turning anything up, they then helped us pile our stuff into John's car and hung with us while we waited on AAA. For 2 hours. We told them they had a long drive ahead of them too and to leave us and we'd be fine. They'd hear nothing of it. Not only that, if you ever wanna get stuck in a grocery store parking lot in another state, these are the folks to do it with. I was not happy with myself but I had no choice but to laugh and have a good time.
Thanks to John, Liz and Beau for making something so mundane into something so memorable. You guys really are the best.

Oh, and then after the 2+ hour wait, we get a Russian locksmith. Of course it's then another 45 mins for him to make the key. And he barks orders like he's in the army and like he's doing us a favor. A real growly guy. What are the odds of getting a Russian locksmith in Atlanta?
Oh. And then there's this one. The TW goes missing for awhile during the Hill Country show and when I finally find her THIS is what's going on! Hmmmmmm...
Thanks for sharing more of your parking lot adventure! That is a great attitude to have, take something that could ruin your day or trip and have fun with it. Way to turn your frown upside down Mr. D!! and great pics to document your adventure too. ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
I was wondering what was up with those pics I saw of y'all in the parking lot! I assumed you locked your keys IN your car and y'all were still havin' a good time. I wish I would have known; you could have ridden in back of the truck (hehe).
I can't wait to do it again. Maybe we'll come down for a Skippers and/or Bamboo Room show(s). ---------- "This is tonight's version of this song"
notfadeaway......It will have to be Skippers and/or Culture Room as the Bamboo Room has been closed for 2 years now.....but I've heard rumor that they may be opening back up again next year!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!
....nice Blue Jay feather John Dude!! ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
doesn't really matter which venue swkelley . . . I just wanna see them again. A South FL trip would be great. How 'bout the Social? Hell, even a Freebird show. . . never been to the Freebird . . . and I would love to party with y'all from FL once again.
I gotta figure out a way to get off work and get out of coaching so I can see the boys in Statesboro however. What a great time we had there last year! You hearing me misty and chip? We ate the best damn shrimp and grits while we watched the sound check and got to sleep on the Blind Willie McTell trail. What fun that was!
Can't wait for Classic Center either . . .with the Derek Trucks Band . . .oh yea!
---------- "This is tonight's version of this song"
notfadeaway - yeah man, I am sorry I missed you guys too - I looked allround for someone wearing a camo/JSO hat and couldn't find you. I was going to sport mine, but it is in such prestigous condition that it looked ridiculous on my head. It looked like I was wearing a 4 foot tall billboard on my forehead. I guess I need to break that thing in soon......
