Hey when did they slide that in there? Sept 11 in Statesboro GA. Mapquest says 6 hours and 5 mins from Tampa. That might be doable. What can you tell us about this venue Bulldog?
Looks like it's not all that bad a drive from Augusta (2 hrs), Columbia (under 3 hrs), Myrtle and HH (under 2 hrs), Savannah (1 hour), Charleston (3 hrs), Macon (2 hrs). Even Jax (3 hrs) and Tally (5 hrs) and Atlanta (3 1/2 hrs) ain't too bad...it's a Friday, take a 1/2 day off from work and let's head to Statesboro y'all!

Well,Clay, I hope it's alright to call you Clay...since we have never really met. :) We enjoyed the last show there. It was about a 3 hour trip from J'ville where we are from, so not a bad ride.The venue was different, two tiered but no upper level around the stage area. The stage area was rather tight but enough room for the Hercules Horns to do there little cool moves, and for jj to interact with the crowd.The main area, where the restaurant would be was neat, I guess it's what a restaurant in the French Quarter would look like. Seen pics but never been to NOLA...yet.It was a great performance! I recall they opened with War...and thats about all I can remember of the setlist order. Kinda hard to write a review from oh 8-9 months ago. Don't recall seeing any regulars at the show hopefully this time alot more fanatics can make the trip to my home state.

Thanks for the report there Bulldog! (I've been called much worse than Clay, so please do!) It's hard to get a feel from their website so you helped to visualize it much better.
There's a fall schedule due out anytime. Keep your hopes up there DT! Stan, I'm thinking maybe right after Jam Cruise. It leaves on Jan 3. If they follow their past routine, they'll do Freebird then Skipper's, then the cruise.

"Hey Bulldog" . . . The French Quarter was amazing last year bro. Chip and I were there . . . and Misty too. It was fabulous. Took a day off work, had shrimp and grits while the band did a sound check, and slept on the Blind Willy McTell Trail. Now I've got the Statesboro Blues because I don't think I can make the trip this year. . . just found out today. If there ends up being a way . . . well . . . I've got the will. I coach and the 13th is our first game. . . don't know the time YET . . .so maybe, just maybe, I can haul ass back to the north side of Atl in time.

I agree notfadeaway!!! Me and the misses had a blast. We didn't get a chance to eat last time but gonna try this time, we already put in for vacation days and got em.We stayed the night in a semi cheap hotel and went to Savannah the next day. We loved the riverfront area and thought we would make it back for the show there but couldn't make it. We haven't been to a show since...so we haven't seen them with the new players.We are so jonesing for that soul funk sound!

Ohhhh...I almost left out the news. I got a teeny tiny bit of official news today that said to watch for the fall schedule announcement early next week.
It's a co-bill tour and the announcement will run thru December dates. I do NOT know who the co-bill is with. Honest. Really, I don't. You can try and ply me with cash, women, drugs, alcohol but it won't work cause that's all I know. But go ahead. Ply me with cash, women, drugs and alcohol.

If you live in Florida I heard there may be some great things to do the weekend of 9/24-9/26..
Asheville is a great place to visit in late OCT.
Texas is fun in mid november...

And Texas in Mid November? Man, they got the guys for June, now November, and next March. The Greyhounds are pulling some weight to play at home. Good thing my parents live there. They love it when I visit and I sure as hell love it when I go back and the guys are playing there.

And all my work of talking to the Rhythm Room owners since the last show there have gone to waste. Bob Corritore the owner, and one fine harmonica player, told me he would work on getting them back there. Just last month I talked to him again about it and he said he was on it. JJ has asked him many times to play with him on stage when the guys were there and Bob always declined saying he was just letting everybody 'do their own thing'. Maybe JJ doesn't want to come back until he changes his mind. Hohum... Oh yeah, I'm suppose to be in the corner crying... Mofro withdrawals are a *****. Ya'll know what I'm talking about...
