Any of you into fishing? Can't bring rods & reels into the venue itself, but the lake is open to fishing before the show (and the day after for those that survive), it's loaded with bass.
The hotel - the rates are only good until 5-29. Probably can be extended, but just in case try to lock a room in before then.
Any travellers looking for things to do around the area, send me an email- brett@snookfoundation.org

Went and heard Joey George last night, he's the lead off singer for the 'Jam. Great song writer, and exceptional blues guitar player. If yer coming to the show, come in early, he's worth it. He's got a myspace page, you can check out his stuff there. Or hear a sample at the Snook Foundation site, there is a juke box with songs from all 4 performers.

Pinellas County, Florida river rat.
What I meant by bigger click was that I only have 2 guys I go to shows with and they aren't coming. Since I don't want to drive to Boca by myself to chill, tape the show and enjoy the show.
E has invited me to go with him, and i am thankful for it...but once I can get the ok from work I'll go...work is the only thing holding me back on going..b/c I will take E's offer on going down with him. I just don't want to be a bother that's all.

How in the hell am I going to pull either one of these off without some sort of hell from the "War Department ?" Guess I better start planning next year's vaction now.

Richard,
Having lived in yer neck of the woods for a brief time, I can understand the conflict. On the other hand, are those naked biker chicks (who just might be accompanied by nude biker dudes) really gonna appreciate your autographed guitar? Richard, in Boca, you would be a celeb, of sorts. I personally would convince my wife to fake a seizure in front of the security guard so I can paddle you out in the lake, under the sunset, so you can catch a Florida bass while JJ sings Dirt Cracker. Try me. I'll even have the wife put an alke-selzer in her mouth to really scare the rentacop. ...but you gotta bring the guitar. If we can't all touch it, deal's off. BTW, best Korean food east of Hawaii is without a doubt in Washington. And, The most underrated red wines - not to mention some serious local brews. All y'all that have not been, forget that crap about the rain. Seattle is such a "mofro" type place, the only reason I don't visit is that I'm seriously afraid that I might never leave.

Tox, That's some funny shit there you're talking about, with the ol' "Plop, plop, fizz, fizz" Hell, I'm thinking about trying some tonight before I go to bed at 11:30pm, before I get up at 4:30am, just to see what it looks like, and then..... if all goes well...looks bad, take some to work, and get couple days off ! Hell again, my wife has already given me the evil stink eye about any thoughts of going to the hippy, hairy legged, painted boobs, commando dudes(not my thing)hemp smellin' when they're not wearin' it, ..... hey I'm my own man....let me check with my wife.. kinda guy no chance in hell am I gettin' to go to that parade....atleast that's what she thinks. Last year, the family got me a metal fire pit for Father's Day, but we had to go out to Ballard(Scandanavian town)just north of downtown Seattle, to the Fred Meyer Store to pick it up. We cruised in my 1966 Galaxie 500XL, and well I waited out in the lot while the went in and got it. Fremont, runs into Ballard, and well the parade route is in the vicinity. I get a call from a frien and co-worker, who happend to be working that day, and told me that the street in front ofthe shop was well, loaded with bicyclists, of all shapes and sizes, not to mention colors. So, I told him to find one, one that I would approve of, and put her on the phone. I heard him call out to this gal, and tell he that "hey, my buddy is on the phone, and he doesn't believe me that you are all riding nude(which I did believe him, it was just his M.O., to get some chick on the phone)so would you say "Hi" to him ?" I hear this all going on in the background, and this sweet sounding thing says"Yeah, sure". She gets on the phone, says hello, and I go into my Jack Nicholson, " How's it going?" "Are ya enjoying bike ride today ?" She youthfully, and enthusistically claims "Yes", while I remind her that even though it was not that sunny out, "You can still get a sunburn through the haze, so are ya protecting yourself?". To which she happily tells me that she's wearing a hat." And I tell her "That's not what I worried about, if ya get my drift?"....She paused momentarily and then laughed, and asked me "how come you're not down at the parade, that you should be here?" To which I choked back my thoughts, and informed here that "as much as I wished, I was already buisy" Hell again, atleast my buddy followed my requests and got his picture taken with her. Still not as good as standing in a room full of fans, shakin' to the sounds of JJ Grey and Mofro. I need to take the wife and the guitar on a trip down South.

Thanks for the tip Hollis. I've been visiting the amphitheater at least weekly, and so far no bug issues - although I'm usually out of there by the afternoon. The manager assures me that it's not such an issue, but some kind of bug spray isn't a bad idea. Richard, since you are riding your bike naked from Seattle, you will need one of those "bike purses" that tuck under the seat for your deet. I'm heading out there again this week, I'll report on that situation! Brett

with the amount of rain this side of the state has had, and its raining again right now where i am, the skeets have gone nuts.
in my pretty much all native yard with no standing water, we are covered in them lately.
they dont like me, so that cool and all, but its worse than Ive seen in 10+ yrs.
hopes are that an afternoon wind off the glades will keep them moving.

Call me Yankee Stupid, I don't care, but y'all seem to be talking alot 'bout skeets, and I can certainly appreciate and understand it. I am also preety darn sure ya aint talking 'bout them clay things that we like to fling in the air, and bust up to pieces with our Savages 12ga. And since my Granddy, used to be employed in St. Pete. spraying them things down, with a whole lotta something that probably has long been banned by the Skeet lovin' crowd, I have not heard or seen a word about any cotton mouths/water mocs., snapping turtles, or GATORS !!!! Now that we figgered out how to handle the skeets, gators and turtles, we can turn our attention toward kids (or is that how we handled the problem? Hmmm)
For them of ya that may be wanting to bring the kids to the SSSJ this weekend and are scratching your head wondering if their will REALLY be anything for them to do then you'll like this. They've got lots of fun summer-type games and activities that kids'll love and adults will have fun watching. Things like: -three legged races -hula hoop contests - fishing contest -relay races -egg races -hot potato contests -potato sack races -limbo contest and more

First name Karen, she's coming from the Tampa area.
Basically, it sounds like she has some real (frozen, I think she said) fish - pan fish sized I'd imagine - that the kids "paint," then make kind of a stamp on rice paper. The result is pretty doggone cool. It is for the kids, but you might see me sneak in line. I used to have some cool snook prints. During a weak moment, I matted and framed them and gave them to friends when they caught their first snook on a fly. They probably wiped their hoodie-hahas with 'em, but I thought they were cool...

Yesterday, a friend said "it sounds like Woodstock." Today, I see that a foundation member, who is a wedding officiant, is offering a free wedding service for the raffle. The right person wins that, late in the day after a few brewskies, he just might have to ante up right there at the show. Weddings, Clay riding a unicycle naked through the 3-legged race course... If someone delivers a baby, my friend might be on to something!

Y'all are really psyching me up. For a little more 'juice,' visit this thread: http://www.snookfoundation.org/index.php?submenu=news&src=directory&view=pages_module&category=SurfinSnook%20Performing%20Artists Clay, yes, one raffle prize will be a set of CD's, all of JJ's and a few from each of the other performers. So over 10 discs in all - not the biggest prize for dollar value, but by far the coolest. frnova, did you book a room at La Quinta? If you get shafted on the rate, which should be $59 now, lemme know. The timing of the sets was designed to do our best to keep JJ from playing under a passing summer shower. In this area, it's usually beautiful after 530 or 6. But as it turns out, he will be watching the sun set over the lake as he plays. Can you imagine? If you are planning on catching his set only, I know he is working on a couple of songs with his buddy Will Conner. I don't know whose set will get the double, tho.
If this show sells out and you forum members aren't in, call my cell (561-707-8923) and I'll meet you at the gate. I'll keep 10 tix aside for sale to forum members should the planets line up and we sell out. But it holds a TON of people, with lawn chairs, so I believe all will be good. By the way, the beer guy just agreed to give a dollar for every beer sold to the cause, and he also agreed to keep the price at $4. So come thirsty. -Brett
