CD Connection announced that they are going out of business. The record store in Jacksonville Beach was one of Mofro's earliest champions. JJ used to come by there to push Blackwater after working all day in the lumberyard The owner in turn became one of the band's biggest fans. He played a big role in the early days of the band.
In fact when Orange Blossoms debuted, JJ's featured acoustic show was at CD Connection.
From an email I received today: On December 26th, 2009 CD Connection will become extinct. Every statistic has it's story, and this is ours. Our lease is up, our sales are down. The recession is a three year old problem & 40 billion illegal downloads in 2008 has forced us from Merry Christmas to no mas. I would sincerely like to thank from the bottom of our hearts here at CD Connection the thousands of customers who supported us over the years, it has been our pleasure to serve you!
Going out of Business Sale Our last day open will be December 26th
ALL CDS, DVDS, and LPS will be sold at cost. All used CDS will be sold at $3.99. All used vinyl will be sold for pennies on the dollar. T-shirts are all $7. We have boxes and boxes of new and popular CDS being sold for $2 each. All posters are going for $1 or under. Come make us an offer and it will probably be accepted. We will work with all of our customers to make sure they get the best deal so we can move our inventory out. Come help us close the store and put an end to the era of record stores.
such a shame...........I still buy my CD's. but I guess technology presses on.....Cool to hear of how they helped out JJ early on. Nice story about leaving the lumberyard to go and push his music.
I wish there was a biography bout that boy! It sure would make for a great read!!!!
