ahh, yes, that one is definitely a story I will never forget. It originates back to when Clay had just got this site up and running, as well as, the beginning of his deeper connections to JJ, the band, and the management.

While I didn't get to jam, play, be in the studio with the band, lord knows I have been dreaming of the day to play some harp with JJ or cover some rhythm on guitar for say Mississippi, my girlfriend and I were lucky enough to sit up on stage for the boys full set at a festival concert.

I'll post a picture or two to hold you over Sunshine until I have a couple of minutes today or tomorrow morning to post the complete story. You'll find it turned out to be quite the boost for this website and one hell of a day that makes me smile, shake my head in awe, and a story I could tell over and over and over... Clay could attest to that.

Here's a few pictures.

First, a true picture from the camera, just of the guys playing.

McDowell Mountain Music Festival

And this one is a snap shot still from video that I took while up on stage. Grabbed this still from the video because of, obviously, what is happening in it. Art had turned around just prior to this and waved, then nudged Dennis to which he turned around and gave the thumbs up.

Dennis Thumbs Up

"turn that camera off!"

it's really not that exciting of a story.. Well, I shouldn't say that.. I reckon it was a great day for DT.
Sorry DT, do tell..

Ok, sorry to derail the thread..

DT has his way of capturing the feel of the moment whenever telling his "Tales of Mofro".

I so enjoyed his story telling of when he presented JJ with his beautiful Lochloosa harp.... you could just feel the excitement in his depiction of his experience......

Ha! Danny, easy for you to say that being that you got to be up on stage, at every show, and travel with the band as the manager for two seperate runs. If I remember right, this one was your last one with the guys before you took a leave for the summer and then came back later?

And good to see that you still remember that day and me for that matter. While you are right in that it's not that exciting of a story for some, for me it was quite the day. Much of it was thanks to you Danny. I've always said afterwards to let me know if you needed any help or to watch out that I would try and steal your job as Mofro TM, but the chance came and gone. I couldn't do that to you however due to the simple fact that you went out of your way that day for me and my girlfriend when it was obvious you didn't have to. Along with JJ and the band, it's obvious that those behind the scenes are built from the same mold with being genuine classy people. I think I speak for everyone on here who knows Danny MOFROTM personally or have run across him at a show that he is most definitely a part of that mold. His only downfall is that he's a Mets fan... Sorry Danny, had to do that to offset you derailing the thread.

PS - ya'll will understand the camera quote when I get to it in the story. Obviously Danny plays a large role in it.

Thanks for kind words DT...
i'm a nobody who held a cool job working with, traveling with and getting to see cool folks (y'all) everyday..

That AZ fest show was my last show before I started working for Summerstage for the 08 season.. I came back to the band that fall and worked with them all last year till I had to be back at SS for the 09 season..
I did not return this fall as I did not want to tour that much..

As Clay has said, touring is a grind.. It's not as fun as you think.. Bad habits, lead to bad decisions..

In the end though, wouldn't change a thing.. Met love of my life in Bloomington Indiana in Summer 07 thanks to JJ and the gang... That's all the thanks I need...

I hear ya Danny and I have no doubt that touring is not as fun as I or everyone thinks it is. Just from what I saw that day behind the scenes and what you had to do throughout the set made me tired and that's not even close to what you guys endure day to day. But that also goes to show still as to the type of guys you and the band are. I understand with not being a band that plays large stadiums, get's exposure every where and every way that you have to cater to your fans to stay on the road and in business, but even with everything the grind of the tour throws at you, you didn't have to go out of your way for me that day or anyone else for that matter, yet you did. For that, I'll always be grateful and I am glad to hear that you wouldn't change a thing. That, and I am happy for you in that it in return gave you everything you ever wanted with the love of your life as well as all the thanks you need. I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. You earned it, you deserve it.

Mofro is better for having you as it's TM as well as a fan. This site is better for having you as someone with the knowledge to make sure we follow thier rules and can appreciate what you and the guys do for us each and every day.
