Hey ya'll,
Just read on Facebook that the west coast tour from December 3-12 has been canceled "out of necessity and due to unforeseen circumstances." Does any one know what's up? Mr D.?? I hope that everything is OK with JJ and the boys!

yup, this really sucks. I just found this out not too long ago. While I am obviously crushed that they will not be making it out my way, I do hope that everything is ok with the guys.
Wow, I don't know what to say...

I noticed that lately JJ's voice has been getting road weary by times. Maybe he's resting those beautiful pipes.

Definitely a shocker to hear of the cancellation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time this happened was 2001/2002 before the Blackwater tour and the car accident. I hope and pray that it is nothing like that or even close to that to have caused this. The one thing that is interesting about it is that the entire west coast tour was cancelled, Shooter Jennings and JT and the Northern Lights are apparently a no go as well. Still shows signs of it being Mofro though as they are the only ones that are on the bill for all of those shows. Shooter and JT skip one here and there. I did notice that Shooter started up with his old band members from .357 and created a new band, thus working on a new album and doing some different things. Don't know if that could be a part of the reason for canceling. Kinda wonder, if Mofro cancelled, why wouldn't Shooter continue if he could or vice versa? Atleast they still have the other future shows listed, that's a good sign, here's hoping it's nothing but a sore throat and extra rest or something having to do with Shooter and his new venture.

hope all is ok. maybe its a management thing, money etc. don't think its a sore throat issue, he's been home, resting, when I talked to him at bear creek, he was fine. ---------- "Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." -Nietzsche

I'm pretty sure Shooter started that up before the tour kicked off back in Sept DT. I'm leaning with FF...since the other guys cancelled too, I think it has to do with a bad economy + the holidays = slow ticket sales. Not worth going out if they can't pay the bills and/or themselves, although I'm sure this had to be a very difficult decision to make.

Yeah Clay, I hear you on that as well, sounds like our thread wondering how they do it money wise could come to be true if that is the case. Definitely seems like a real possibility. Especially sharing the bill with Shooter and JT or anyone else and to go all the way out west. Without Shooter, I could see it being more of a possibility, but having to share the revenue with a co-headliner and no increase in the price of the tickets doesn't help to pay the bills. I just hope that is the case instead of something unforseen causing it. I got no problem with JJ and the guys taking some extra time off, they need it and truely deserve it. We all know that we are not going anywhere, so when they do get the chance to make it out this way again, we'll all be ready and waiting.

My trophy wife dragged my grumpy ass to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. She gots an aunt and uncle there and I got to hang out for 3 days with 15 of the biggest whack jobs you'd ever want to meet...with the exception of the TW's cousin who is certifiable and should be locked up in a looney bin for life. And, with my apologies to anyone who lives in or hails from Tulsa, the list of the top 3 things to do in Tulsa is as follows: 1. 2. 3.
As for the subject at hand, I got a little bit of info that I think y'all will be pleased about: everyone is fine. JJ's fine, his voice is fine, ain't nobody sick, ain't nobody dying (well, from a biological standpoint we're all dying and have been since the day we were born, but I digress), ain't nobody leaving the band, all is well in Mofro-land.
Bout the only other thing I know is that it was a really tough business decision. I don't know the details. It all went down very quickly. I'll find out on Monday if there's more info that can be shared.

One more thing...if you live in/around Memphis (Art), Austin (Greyhounds: Anthony and Andrew), Jax (Dennis, Daryl), Orlando/Tampa (AC, Daryl), keep an eye out for them cause they'll be doing some side gigs. They've worked their asses off touring this year and it's nice to sleep in a real bed every night without 9 other guys all in bunks farting and snoring, but they're just like us and can't take a month or two off without any income. If you see any of their names pop up in your area get on out there and support 'em.

Thanks Clay for getting the low down on the crew and reporting back to us that everything is ok. That is a relief to hear that it was a business decision and that nothing tragic happened. Sorry to hear you are stuck in Tulsa for the weekend. I just got back from my parents place just south of you in Tyler, Texas. I think that is probably worse than Tulsa being that Tyler is located in a 'dry' county. Have to drive 20 miles to the county line to be able to buy liquor. Did get the chance this time to go downtown and see where it all started off for the Greyhounds. If any of ya'll know a little of thier history, they got going at the Liberty Theatre in downtown Tyler, Texas. Hence the name of thier first album, Liberty, which was recorded there. Pretty cool place. A little run down, but was cool to check out. Didn't get to make it down to Austin to see them, I know they were playing a show, but next time.
Clay, here are my three things for you to pass the time:
1. Drink 2. Drink 3. Yup, you guessed it, Drink...

We were gearing up for a great show in Boulder, but will have to wait. We've seen them many times in Colorado and waiting for another show. Hope all is well with the band.

Welcome to our little spot out in the swamp TullyMars! Glad to have you. Wish it was under better circumstances. The guys are all fine, so that's the good news.
DT, yep...that's what I did, that's what I did, and then that's what I did. Fortunately the in-laws had a well stocked lickher cabinet.
Jimbo...I din't know you had Oral's cell number! Yep, I hooked up with him so I could get me some of that spiritual cleansing. He's loosened up a lot since he hit 90. He took me up in that space needle prayer tower thing he has there. We coulda called you on the speaker phone if Ida know'd you know'd him. It was very cleansing. We burned one, held hands and sang kumbaya. You know what they say: Retired televangelists have the best weed.

The band's management team would prefer to leave their statement pretty much as-is. I've been assured, once again, that the band is fine and everyone is healthy.
It was a co-bill, with a limited number of stops out west without any in-between. There are several layers as to the entities and people involved, something akin to a game of jenga.
To put my own spin on it: this difficult short-term decision for the band will ultimately be a long-term benefit for ALL of us fans.

Here's an idea for everyone to consider: after the 3 New Year's shows, and Jam Cruise, there's the 2 early Jan Florida dates and then the guys are off until essentially April. So come on down to Jacksonville and ring in the new year with Mofro! Tix are still available as are rooms. Cain't spell p-a-r-t-y without u!
