cool!! i like side projects of bandmembers, lets me see who they are! ---------- "Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." -Nietzsche
Anybody planning on going to see this at the Social? I know a lot of the Cent Fla peeps are at Bear Creek, but we ain't so we're going to this. We wanna see Daryl playing and show him some support.
I checked out the bands and this is a nice line-up. The same bunch is making their rounds thru the usual haunts in the SE...tonight in Ybor, tomorrow Orlando, Sun in St. Aug at Cafe 11, then Smiths Olde Bar in Atl, the Valarium, the Orange Peel, etc.
Here's the scoop on each:
Lucero has a southern rock sound http://www.myspace.com/lucero
Cedric Burnside and Lightin' Malcolm kick ass. It's kind of a Mississippi blues with some funk thrown in http://www.myspace.com/jukejointduo
The Dirty Streets describe themselves as 60s and 70s rock http://www.myspace.com/thedirtystreets
The Dealers range from blues to rock http://www.myspace.com/48854499
The weather's gonna be beautiful for an outdoor show. Y'all come...hope to see a few familiar faces there.

It's be great if somebody taped this. Frank you wouldn't happen to be going wouldja? I don't think E and SueWebb can go. Maybe I could see if I could borrow his equip. Course, I haven't a clue what to do. I just wanna tape Daryl's set.
For anyone going or thinking of it, Daryl's set should start at about 5:30 Sat afternoon. So don't stroll in late!!
In the words I never thought I'd utter department: we just saw 2 Mofro members' side bands in one night. In 2 different cities.
First up Daryl's set in Orlando. Lizzy's is a great little Irish pub that has a backlot and today was perfect for an outdoor show. Daryl took the stage just after the sun went down...it was about 75 degrees and a low humidity. His drummer looked familiar. Only cause it was none other than AC! And his bass player was Shaney P that used to play for Matt Grondin's old band Inca Maya.
Okay y'all, if you ain't sitting down then I'd highly suggest it. Here goes: first of all Daryl didn't have a chair...as in, he stood. Yep, guitar strap and all! If that didn't get ya, try this on for size: he sings lead vocals. NO I'm NOT shittin you.
He sounded great, man he can turn it loose on the guitar. The trophy wife had to come over a couple times and tell me to close my mouth cause I was just standing there in a frozen stare.
We saw AC before the show and he said right afterward he was headed to Tampa, to Dunedin Brewery actually, which is a good half hour past Tampa toward Clearwater. He was gonna be playing with another of the side bands he's in, this one the Hindu Cowboys. So off we headed back to Tampa (2 hrs+) after Daryl's show to catch him there. They had a rockabilly sound, lotta fun. AC is a performing fiend man.
That's all for now...I got a few pics. Don't know if the vids came out, my camera was acting funky. Hope they came out cause y'all got to hear/see Daryl...he was really really good.

Nice, I've never heard the man sing. Does he have a good voice? I'd like to hear him let loose on guitar too. His solos with Mofro have never done much for me, so I'd like to hear him play his own material. ---------- Could a little JJ and Mofro be a cure for cancer?
