If you have any issues where a video plays and then stops to load and then does it again and again, pause the video for a minute or 2. That'll give it time to load up and it won't do that shit no more. These were shot hi res so they come out even clearer if you watch in the HQ mode--click on the HQ button right after you click play. ---------- MofroFan1

"Buzzed" is a good word. He wasn't drunk but he was feeling good. I talked to him and AC and Anthony and Andrew after the show and they were all feeling damned good but they weren't slurring words falling down drunk or nothing. I think it was lemon drops somebody kept bringing up there to them, but not sure. It wasn't whisky...you can hear JJ in the video above saying it tastes like Gatorade.
I saw Andrew right before he got on the bus and he said "I hope everybody realizes what they saw tonight. We weren't as tight as usual but we were having such a great time that made up for it. I think it's the best show we've done since we joined up."
That sums up a lot. You gotta figure that after 10 days straight, with the 11th day playing 2 gigs, they're either gonna be dragging ass or play their asses off. I'm so glad it was the latter!
Tip's was rocking. It wasn't full--they didn't have the upstairs even open--but as JJ says on the video above that we were the hard core MFers for staying in NOLA, staying up late and coming to the show. The crowd fed off the band's energy; the guys started out hot and got hotter and hotter. ---------- MofroFan1
Oh man, when Matt Grondin showed up we all about shit. He just kills on the guitar. For those new to the band, Matt is from Jacksonville and has been known to sit in on songs quite often with the band when they play in Fla. His mother is Ronnie Van Zant's widow and owns the Freebird in Jax. Matt had a band there but moved out to NOLA earlier this year. Ashley tells me that she sees him sitting in with bands all over the place there and that he's playing with funk bands more than anything else. ---------- MofroFan1

Mmmmmmm! I love lemon drops! It's simply vodka and lemon juice chilled and then poured over a sugar cube until it dissolves.......so after a few, anybody is bound to feel no pain! :p
I love how Daryl justs pounds his, his cup hits the floor before any one even starts sipping on theirs! :p ---------- Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History

Has their been discussion of AC, Andrew and Anthony singing backup in these last few shows? If so I've missed it. And I apologize for "burying the lead" and not reporting on this sooner!
They didn't sing a lot but they all had mics at Voodoo and at Tipitina's! I was hoping it would happen eventually! I've missed George on back up. He has a great voice. He and Adam used to do a good job on vocals. And when AC came on, he started doing back ups with Adam on a few songs. So since Adam left and Andrew and Anthony have been getting up to speed there hasn't been any.
All 3 of them have GREAT voices y'all. Man, they just keep surprising us, keep getting better, never know what's gonna happen next! ---------- MofroFan1

Thanks for posting the Six Ways Video Clay. That just goes to prove what I had talked about a while back, Anthony flat out rocks on the keys! I hope JJ lets him loose when they are in Tempe. It's just gonna keep getting better and better with every show.

Mofro for life in Arizona The Rhythm Room is exactly that when the boys are kicking it here. "Walking on Moonlight in the Day."
Awesome Stan, it lived up to expectations. Very cool place. Nice vibe from all the people that work there and partying there. I noticed on the first night we were there--a packed house for Galactic on Fri nite--that there was not a single bouncer in the place. Just the dudes at the front door but nobody wandering the place or anything. That's pretty fucking cool. Shit, at Maverick's in Jacksoville in Sept I've never seen so much security in a club ever...including HOB. There wasn't a single place you couldn't look that there weren't security. I heard it's always that way there, it surely wasn't just because Mofro was there. They must hire out AT LEAST 50 temp security people on weekend nights.
Great sound system there too. For Galactic I couldn't get anywhere even near the front. Even the upstairs was jam up. But the sound was great no matter where you were.
Upon seeing Galactic, I was disappointed with Tip's lighting system. Then I remembered that Galactic has all their shows backlit. I dunno why, a style thing I guess, but everytime I've seen them they backlight the hell out of their shows. Can't get any photography without flash (and with is so blown out it's worthless.) Sure enuf, when Mofro came on Sunday their lighting--as the photos above indicate--was great. Even Dennis are Art were well lit and that's the corner that usually suffers the most.
SMALL stage there. Very cool for the audience because no matter where you are you've got a prime spot. You can be right in front of Daryl but still not very far from JJ. It's great. (Except maybe for the band; I've been told that bands don't always dig small stages but I imagine Tip's being the exception.)
I don't know how in the hell The Rebirth Brass Band would fit up there. We saw them at Maple Leaf and that's a small stage too though. One of the (two) trombone players kept knocking into a stage light; the guy playing the tuba (and he was about as round as the tuba) took up a lot of space. They got 2 drummers but no kit. One stands and plays a snare and the other stands a plays a bass. They're awesome btw. I've never seen a band that keeps the bass line with a tuba! ---------- MofroFan1

oh cool clay . you guys went to rebirth at maple leaf on tuesday, awesome. I think that the galactic lighting was like that because of the glow in the dark body paint, it wasn't effective otherwise ---------- "Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." -Nietzsche
