Richard you're a riot. I like your plan for the auction too. I'm not sure how it would go over. I'm not even sure I understand it! You'd probly be a dollar short though. Considering you're already a day late.
Hey Tox, do you know what the winning bid was and more importantly, who the lucky winner is!? ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
A couple from Texas won the trip with a $3500 bid. I believe they came across the auction from this forum, so I'll let them disclose their names if they wish.
Obviously, they are rabid fans. In fact, they're driving from Houston to catch the Sunday night show in NO this weekend.
This was such a win/win for everyone, and I think all parties involved are pretty excited about the trip, which will probably go down some time in the spring.
the banquet dinner was real nice. it was kind of funny - there was a definite split in the crowd. A good showing of young, go-getter active conservationists, anglers, and marine scientists. The other half of the crowd was elderly, there to support some of the folks that won our annual awards. It was great watching our director plug JJ and MOFRO to the blue hairs!
But it's clear that JJ is in a position to be personally responsible for preserving a piece of Florida. Heck, I feel good just pointing to a mangrove tree and saying, "I planted that." JJ will be able to wave his arm across acres and acres and say "That is protected because of me." Of course, he wouldn't ever do that, but the thought must give him a charge.
That's awesome tox...thanks for sharing. It sounds like everything went really well, that's great for you and all the volunteers who work tirelessly. I just want to reiterate (because we have new people who discover the site every day) that the Snook Foundation is a true friend of Florida's waterways and coastal regions. Their efforts to lobby state government have made vast differences in how the state's conservation laws now work. What they accomplish today will have positive effects on Florida's environment for many years to come.
Hopefully the winners will bump into us in NOLA. We'll also be at the Tip's late nite show. Winners, if you've seen pics on the board of FireFly, antsyashley, or me and/or my trophy wife (I have funny hair--usually looks more like a hat) then c'mon up to us and say hey! Safe to say we'll be near the rail at both shows. We'd love to hear where y'all are gonna fish and what y'all are gonna be going after and how long y'all have been following the band and all sorts of questions! I'd love to have a quick interview with y'all for the site; I fully understand if you don't want to use your names...we can just make up a first name for each of you and disclose it's not your real name. I don't think people would have any problem with that. But it's up to you, if your shy it's no problem! I don't wanna put you on the spot here. (Oops. I think I just did.)
You're right tox, JJ might think that but he's way too humble to ever say it. He always says he's just like everyone else and all but I still can't help but put him up on a pedestal. He brings so much to so many...that just ain't nothing that "everyone else" can do. As I've said before there are other artists out there who say all sorts of inspiring shit but don't practice it. JJ talks the talk and walks the walk. ---------- MofroFan1
Morning back atcha tox!! Thanks so much for the quick reply. How wonderful for a husband and wife to share the day with JJ!! I sure hope they do your interview Clay. :o) ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."

It’s 2025 and my expenses to keep this site up are just over $800/yr. If you want to help offset my expenses to keep this site up please consider pitching in a buck or 2. Much obliged!
