I sent an email to the Bamboo Room website yesterday (asking if they had any plans to reopen the finest venue in all of Florida) and received an answer from the owners saying that they are planing on reopening next fall (PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!). If you would, please visit the website (www.bamboorm.com), click on the contact tab at the top right of the page and send them an email telling them how you would LOVE for them to reopen as you miss seeing shows there, always wanted to see a show there, etc. And when they do reopen, ALL of you need to come down for some shows there....MOFROs favorite venue.....ask JJ, he's said it on numerous occassions!!!

I sent Russell an email several weeks ago and got the same response so hopefully the plans come to fruition. In the meantime you might want to check out Propaganda (just across the street from the Bamboo Room). I saw a great show there last Friday (Izzy Cox from Austin, the Dex Romweber Duo, & Bamboo Room regular Ben Prestage. Mostly Indie bands but you never know what gem you'll discover. Check their website at http://www.propagandalw.com/
Thankya Stan. I just sent 'em my email. It really is an incredible place y'all. The atmosphere, the decor, the energy. And the fact that the place could easily hold 500 or 600 people (is that about right Stan?) if they were packed in like so many clubs do--or have to do in order to survive-- but they only let in 250 to 300. It's downright cozy. Ain't a bad spot in the house. JJ doesn't just play his acoustic there; he plays acoustic SETS.
Don't need to be a long message. Mine's longer than it needs to be but sometimes I can just drag on and on and on and on and on and on. Here's what I sent 'em: "My wife and I made the trip from Tampa 2 years ago for a 3 nite run of Mofro. I've seen them at probably 20 different venues and can honestly say yours was absolutely the best. Here's hoping you will re-open. We would easily come there from Tampa again and not only for Mofro. We'd do our best to get the word out in Central Florida. Thank you and good luck."
And thank you for the alternatives SoFlaDave. Always good to hear about what's happening, appreciate ya shouting out.

I got a nice message back from Bamboo Room. Sounds pretty much like what Stan and Dave got.
"Thank you very much for your email. We really appreciate your taking the time and your kind words.
We hope to reopen in Fall 2010, that's when we hope we will have the audience support (people will feel better about the economy). We will keep your email and personally let you know!"
Any of y'all out of state that would consider going, consider sending them an email. They're just about 15 minutes or so from the beach, 45 mins to Ft. Laud, an hour and a half to Miami. Great music at night, great part of Florida by day.
Thanks again Stan for clueing us in on all this! ---------- MofroFan1

If you get a chance, check out the photos link on the Bamboo Rooms website and find the Mofro album of pics. If any of ya'll are missing JJ with long hair, just take a look at these pics, they are classic.
