We headed down to Louisville for another evening with the boys last night. Shooter sounded much better, I actually enjoyed his set this time around.
I got to finally get a pic with AC prior to the show. He's such a great guy. We got a couple of surprises last night. Black water opener which seemed to last about 10 minutes. Nare Sugar, first time hearing live. Brighter Days closer. Originally they had Mojo for the encore closer but it was changed to On Fire. At the Indy show, I talked to JJ after the show and asked if they could throw "The Truth" into the Lville show. Lo and behold, it was the third song (I think) that they played. JJ is a sweet, sweet man.
I can't remember what JJ asked DAryl during the show, but the man cracked a smile. I was disappointed that I couldn't get a pic of that.
The boys exited quickly and I didn't get a chance to thank JJ for playnig my request. The only downfall of the night was the few members of the crowd who decided to push their way to the front and in front of me somehow when I was against the stage. Then the guy proceeded to yell Jacksonville all night just because he was from Florida.
I'll get some pics up tonight after I edit them. ---------- Could a little JJ and Mofro be a cure for cancer?

OMG hh, that all sounds awesome. JJ is something huh? Isn't that great that The Truth was on the list. Seeing Daryl smile is becoming a regular thing! He smiled at all 3 Florida shows. Laughed actually. Hell, in Jax he actually looked into the audience! I talked to his parents a little about him and they said he's in a good place right now. It shows no only in his demeanor but his playing too.
I see where you had one of "those" people there. Always seems to be one asshole at a show huh? Whoo-whoo, the guy was from Florida so he's got to come up and annoy everybody else about it. I've come to the conclusion that that's how it is, there's always going to be at least one. That way when I get to a show I don't get all too whacked out with some bonehead.
You got to hear Nare Sugar? NARE SUGAR! I will officially quit bitching about the similarities in setlists now. Nare Sugar has returned.
You made me a happy boy hh. Thanks for your review; look forward to the pics. ---------- MofroFan1

I'm with Clay and Sunshine in saying that I was waiting for you to post how your request for The Truth came out, but I did have the feeling he would play it for you. Having the same kind of situation happen to me during the So Cal shows in late August, I know how you feel, how it felt, how it just flat out makes you smile every time you think about it. I just remember the first notes of the requested song ringing out and the feeling of your heart pounding, that sense of "walking on Air". Not only that, but enjoying the song knowing that JJ played it for you. Sorry to hear that you didn't get the chance to thank him afterwards, but I would venture to say that while you didn't get to say it to him, he already knows and he would have turned it around in some way shape or form and thanked you somehow. From day one I have been blown away by JJ and the guys as to what type of people they are given thier job and status. I know we all agree in how lucky we are to be Mofro Fans. You just don't get that from any other band out there today or in the past. They are one of a kind and in a class all by themselves. I think they are finally starting to get big, because the last couple of shows I've been to have shown through in the amount of people singing along, going crazy for the guys, and showing that sign of being Mofro-Fanatics. If anyone deserves it, JJ and the guys do, but it definitely makes you appreciate what they did and were able to do in the good ole' days when they were lesser known. While they might be limited going forward on how much they are able to hang out afterwards and chat, by no means has there or do I think there will ever be, any signs of them changing who they are and thier strive to keep us smiling. It's just thier nature, it's in thier blood. ---------- Delerious Tyme

DT you always have a way of putting into words what many of us feel about Our Boys. I just get goosebumps whenever I read about someone's moments with JJ and the boys! Class Acts indeed and the most humble and down to earth folks.....gotta love em, and I dew! :o) ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."

Class act. Those are def the right words. Surprisingly the venue wasn't near as packed as last year. Even on the recording of last year, when being introduced, Danny said, "Man there's a lot of Y'all in here". No where near as packed. I was front, left to go to the bathroom, and got my spot back without pushing or shoving. Granted my friend was there and when I have my camera in my hand, people just move out of the way. They think you're someone important. It's comical. Last year, it took me 45 minutes to get from the front of the stage, retrieve a beer, and find my friends. It was ridiculous.
JJ did say during the show that they sell nearly as many records in Louisville as they do in Jacksonville. I don't know if there's any truth behind that or if he just said it to get the crowd going. I'm a little sad that I couldn't get to the Covington show tonight but I didn't get home til 330am and had to be up for work at 6. Totally worthit though. ---------- Could a little JJ and Mofro be a cure for cancer?

at the raleigh show last year they opened with blackwater, i thought that was fantastic
hey Hh, are you referring to the nov 28th show?when danny said that at the louisville show last year, he might have been talking to johndude, liz and me, cause we drove up there last minute, broke as shit, and had a blast. crazy spontanious trip. they picked me up in tampa and we drove straight thru , so hyped up on mofro adrenaline, we never slept. great trip , great show, jj was sick and probably took everything available in the cold medicine cabinet, he was funny crazy.. ---------- "Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." -Nietzsche

That was the show. I was under the impression that he was just talking about the size of the crowd.
I just thought that JJ had a little too much whiskey because his stories were hilarious because he kept on getting side tracked. On Fire lasted close to 15 minutes because he told the story for ten minutes, lol. I remember someone breaking a glass and he interrupts himself to say"Nice working with you, whoever broke that", then continued his story.
You guys are hardcore. ---------- Could a little JJ and Mofro be a cure for cancer?

Yeah, FF, I still get a kick out of that (No, they don't all look alike).
Woo, def go by yourself next time. My first ever Mofro show was by myself and I had a ball. I go to shows by myself all the time. My friends are lame and never want to go out, so I just head on out solo. ---------- Could a little JJ and Mofro be a cure for cancer?

hhfan I've done the same. Not all that often but if there's a Mofro show and for some reason my wife can't make it (or vice versa) then I go. Everything comes around. Someday it'll be her that can make it and I can't. It's all fair.
And you're never really alone at a Mofro show. It takes all of 3 or 4 minutes to make new friends. ---------- MofroFan1

I use a Nikon D60 with a 50mm f1.4g lens. The lens is made for low light. It cost more than the camera did. The only downside is that it has no zoom. It is fixed at 50mm, but I never have to use a flash. My next purchase will be a low light zoom, but we're talking about $2000 for something like that.
I bought the low light lens after realizing that the band probably doesn't appreciate me taking a hundred pics using a flash everytime. I really enjoy concert photography. I go to shows all the time just to practice, even if I don't like the band.
On average, I'll take about 400 pics per show and keep maybe 10% of those. I try to get at least one shot per show to add to a portfolio. ---------- Could a little JJ and Mofro be a cure for cancer?

You do have a talent there! All the pics all around of JJ's boots and old school Nikes crack me up. I think we need an album of JJ's footwear or lack there of.

Thanks hhfan. I wish my little Canon did awl that. But I love the small size and if I had one like yours I probably couldn't dance around without flinging it in some direction, lol. Yes I hate using a flash as well, that is why (amoung other reasons) like to get right up front so I don't have to use the flash.
and yes, whenever I take photos, I find that I end up liking bout 10% of the shots, but that is why it is good to take a bucket load. ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."

I have no problem dancing my ass off while toting a bigger camera. You get used to it. That camera has paid for itself over and over again. Just the money that I've saved with pics of my son. I never have to do the studio thang. ---------- Could a little JJ and Mofro be a cure for cancer?
