Hey Gang, especially you travelers,
Hey while most of y'all were following the freedom train to brighter days, some of us were locked into reality commitments. Such was the case tonight, as Cathy and I along with our boys, their friends, and bucket load of folks from the community, all headed up to our boys' school, to take in an outdoor movie night that was a fundraiser for the 4th graders to a camp across the bay. We were asked by the Principal, who read the newspaper article about our movie nights, to talk with the PTA folks and those who were putting on the fundraiser, because they were going to do an outdoor movie, hotdogs, soda-pop, popcorn, candy and no mint julips(damn) and we were asked if we could help out. So, we did, as in took our setup to the school, and played the movie. After getting home, cleaning up, loading up the gear, I made sure I was ready to spread the "Mofro", and JJ grey too. Doning my "Orange Blossom" t-shirt, and upon getting everything all set up, I asked Cathy to grab a cd out from her van, since none are in my Mustang......hummmm,(and she damn near took the borrowed "Blackwater" from me had I not used my psycic powers on her. "We need to do a sound check",I told her, and so let the musical love spread begin. As I walked around and checked the speakers, singing along, and eyeballing the building crowd as they picked their vantage points, I noticed some gyrations and toe tapping taking place. This was a good sign, albeit not the real live McCoy, it was a start, an introduction, a planted seed of getting the newbies Mofrodized. I was enjoying the taking over of their brain waves, so much so, that I felt compelled to share my witnessing of a influential take over, but who would understand what I was seeing....the most ? Brother Clay, that was it, he must be called, and certainly, he must be asked about his evening of lastnight. So, I interrupted his travels, and called him. Oh shit, I forgot about the time zone difference, but not for long, because I figured e must still be on a high from the night before, and maybe he'll have to let go of something, mentally, and maybe my call to him will go first. He sounded as if he might have been about to tap into his second wind, or maybe, just maybe, he was still on his first wind, nonetheless, he was on a roll of a ride, and I just had to share with the Master of Mofro, my delight in seeing others enjoy the music before the show. Must have been 200-300 people up there, including the kids. And, of course, Vinny, my oldest upon hearing JJ, had to ask(even though I know he likes their music), "Geez Dad,are you playing this again, is this all you brought, don't you have some GreenDay?" Yeah, right kid, I thought to myself, are you kidding me? Vinny will eventually grow up and develope some wisdom, someday.....I hope.
Thanks for humoring me Clay, hope the trip was a success, and a lifelong great memory maker.
Take care everyone.

Thank you Richard for your delightful story. I always look forward to your posts!! You are dewing a fine job of spreading the Mofro Love. There ain't nuthin like turning someone onto JJ and the Boys and seeing them starting to get the fever! A friend I hadn't see or spoken to in like 15 years found me on FB and he should be receiving his double CD compilation of live Mofro tunes along with a decription in detail of each of the songs I picked out along with a couple of articles and interviews of JJ. I LOVE it!!
I dew like how you started out your story.......
"Hey while most of y'all were following the freedom train to brighter days, some of us were locked into reality commitments."

I’m Clay/MofroFan1, the guy who started this back in 2008. Seventeen years and running and no intention of stopping because Mofro fans are the best fans ever.
Even though it costs me about $800/yr I always said I’d leave it going forever. If you’d like to make a little donation to help me offset these costs please click above or go here.
