So, I know I am new, and I talk (or would that be type) too much (MG is already in Fl right now hanging with all our good friends in Orlando tonight, and I'm all alone up here in SC, so what else I got to do but talk to you all)
ANYWAY, I was thinking about the setlist for the Ybor City show, and subsequently the Orlando show the next day, and I remembered, that when "The Boys" were in Greenvul last year, JJ did a solo acustic appearance at Horizon Records before the show at the handlebar. I unfortunately was NOT there (because my deadbeat Greenvull friends - same ones I could not talk into coming to Tampa with me this coming week) couldn't make it that EARLY to the get to Horizon Records (that won't happen again - I'll go by myself if there's ever a next time)
ANYWAY enough b!chin' about that - anyway (and I really am a nice person - just gotta give Lisa and Jim a little shit), anyway, so a week or so after the Greenvul show, I was listinin' to WNCW (great NPR station out of NC, bytheway, google'em up or go to wncw.org - they stream) and they were playing JJ's performace from Horizon records,
and on there, I heard Hurricane on the radio! Well, beins that me and MG were livin in Orlando that fateful year that JJ's talkin about (and that last one that went on for days and days was Jean, btw) struck really close to my heart. But he said he had not put Hurricane on Orange Blossoms & maybe it'd be on the next album, so I just kinda forgot about it.....
Then, in looking forward to seeing "The Boys" in Ybor, (have I mentioned that?) I was thinkin', "Dern, wouldn't it just be great if they played that Hurricane song in Ybor - - - or better yet IN ORLANDO!!!!! - - - some of you know what I mean, Orlando got it bad that year!
So I googled it up, and by dern if one of you'all's Mofro fansters don't have that Horizon records show ON YOUR SITE!!!!
You people are just AMAZING!!!!
and it would be REALLY cool if JJ did that song at the Ybor show, so if anybody's got an in with "The Boys" that'd be a great request......
Yeah, I got it bad...... Is there some kind of drug for this???
Yes... ---------- "Now if you happened to come down here tonight...and you don't wanna hear the person next to you sang, and you don't want'em to dance, cause you might spill your drink, you came to the wrong show in the wrong venue."
We have briggzz to thank for that! He lives in your neck of the woods KG. He usually makes the Peel shows. I'm sure he'll be at upcoming fest show. He's a great guy and of course...a big fan of the band.
KGinSC has that same Richard-esque like quality of exitement and I LOVE it........
:o) ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
Okay - one more post, and then it's off to bed for KG!
KGinSC is EXTEMELY excited to be coming to Tampa this week (hoping and praying that this house closing doesn't fall thru!!!)
and the Mofro Ybor City show is just wonderfully timed icing on the cake!!!
After all the intro's on my Ybor City string, Clay, I don't think you told me who Sunshine is... Who is Sunshine? Where does Sunshine live? Will Sunshine be "gettin to Ybor City" Thursday?
I think "Richard-esque like quality of excitement was a huge compliment" - thank you muchly!
Ahhhh...well I was saying on the other post that Sunshine holds the fort down around here because you can count on her to always welcome new folks with open arms (well...as much as you can have open arms over the internet), be around whenever anyone wants to "talk," be incessantly cheerful, and spreads the Mofro love like soft butter on homeade biscuit.
She won't be here in Ybor; she lives near Ashvegas. You'll meet her at the Greenville show and the Peel show.
"spreads the Mofro love like soft butter on homeade biscuit"..........now I think that may be the nicest thang anyone has ever said about me!! Makes me hungry, ha ha. Thank you Mr. D!
:o)
KGinSC, used to live in Dunedin Fl for like 24 years and then needed to get away from the heat and over population, and the cockroaches, so we up and moved to the mountains where we have fireflies. Make it back to the Dunedin/Palm Harbor area 1-2 times a year. ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
