Good luck to the winner, or should I say the one who read the rules, understood them, and followed directions. Obviously, as brother Clay could attest, I still have a problem doing just that, as was evident by my submission to the contest lastnight. In school, both Jr. Hi, and Sr. Hi. I went out of my way to do poorly, and that bought me some timeshare in.......Summer School. The running joke was that " I had a problem with Language Arts". Well, hell again, maybe there was more to my problem than met the eye. Anyways, after some consideration and not much paying attention, I sent to Clay my setlist. Somewhere in my pea brain, I was thinking of songs that I would get a kick out of hearing the boys play, other than their own. Songs that I thought could be belted out, funktified, grooved blue, and wailed on to no end. Hell again to the second power, JJ Grey & Mofro could play any of their songs, anytime, anywhere, in any order, and I think that most if not all of us would agree, it would be great no matter what was played. Hell, they could play the "Emergency Broadcast Signal" and make it sound like the best thing ever played. My point is this, if I had paid attention first, and then got serious, well things would have been different, but I did not, so here is what I submitted. And when I wake-up from my dream, here is a small sample, of what I would like to hear the boys play, if they had the time to pull this off, and add it to their already cool list.
I can't stand the rain Mustang Sally Take me to the river Jumpin Jack Flash Can't always get what I want Heard it through the grapevine Lousianna Rain (Tom Petty) Mary Jane's Last Dance Alabama Jubilee When you're hot you're hot (Jerry Reed) Sweet Home Alabama Give me three steps Saturdaynight special Freebird Hoochie Coochie Man Champange & Reefer Crawlin' King Snake Boom,Boom One Bourbon, one scotch, one beer I'm in the mood Tennessee Waltz w/ Bonnie Raitt & Norah Jones Rocket 88 Your funer and my trial Fattening frogs for snakes Wang, Dang Doodle Hound Dog
Ok, I am not high, have not had a stroke, but maybe I am suffering from Cerebral Rectal Innversion, cause now I just paid attention to the "Dream Cover Song Setlist". Good God Richard, and they let you drive a truck on public roads...... time to start refining the list !

btw Richard, I LOVE the choice of Crawlin King Snake, I wish I would have thought of that for the Cover List contest.....good job! ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
I think JJ could tear up on I Can't Stand the Rain (Anna Peebles). Seeing that song along with Mustang Sally(Wilson Pickett) and Take Me to the River(Al Green) as the first three songs on your setlist brought to mind The Commitments soundtrack.......what a GREAT movie! Though I love all the original renditions of these songs, the covers as performed in the movie were AWESOME as well=)
Mustang Sally happened to be the first song on my Fantasy Cover Setlist submission! =)
