This is THE PLACE to eat in the Tampa area. Dunno how close it is to the venue...Clay or Eric could speak to that. I say we all meet there around 6pm or so & get our pre-party festivities in order.
Another fun night of hanging with EStanley, the infamous Sue Webb, Jen, Liz...and Clay slept through it all.
We ate at Ella's tonight, which is Ernie's(Nervous Turkey) new restaurant that just opened this weekend. This place is great y'all! The bbq was deelicious! I had the "Itis" & boy did it give me the itis fo sho. Fried Pickles, Sweet Potato Fries, Zuccini somethin' or other, Mac & Cheese. Sliced Pork & Brisket. The ice tea was good to! This was just the Sunday BBQ menu. You gotta see the regular menu, it's ridiculous!

We interupt this ZZZZZZZZZ moment for a bulletin. It's about 10-12 minutes to the Ritz from Ellas, and then it takes a good 5 minutes to get parked. Best place to park for the Ritz is the public garage one block south and one block west. (BTW, they only take cash or you have to sleep there in your car.) I now return to my ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ status.

Google Maps says it's about 6 mins away. Who am I to argue with Google?
On the other hand, it's not the way that I would go. I'd jump back on I-275 myself (that's what y'all in California would call The 275) How about you E?
(A is Ella's, B is The Ritz. As soon as I have it I'll add a C, which will be the hotel address and room number for Giggles.)

as Clay says.........dayum! too bad my future does not hold this evening in the cards..
sounds like a incredible time, y'all be careful. ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
JD, I recommend a "lighter" meal for us pre-show. You don't want that "itis" hitting you at the show. ---------- "Now if you happened to come down here tonight...and you don't wanna hear the person next to you sang, and you don't want'em to dance, cause you might spill your drink, you came to the wrong show in the wrong venue."
I agree...the "Itis" plus all of the sides put me in a coma! When I say all of the sides...I mean I had an order of everything!
Eric & I can sure put away some groceries ---------- "throwin' pennies on the tracks and playin' in the rain...oblivious of the world around us that was going insane"
JD, that reminds me of the "Biscuits and Groceries" story. Good stuff right there. ---------- "Now if you happened to come down here tonight...and you don't wanna hear the person next to you sang, and you don't want'em to dance, cause you might spill your drink, you came to the wrong show in the wrong venue."
Yup! A fifth of Crown Royal...and live MOFRO... this was the infamous 2/24/08 Orlando show
"She got biscuits, but no groceries!" I yelled, making reference to the young lady I had invited to the show with me I may have mentioned something about my "microphone" too
this was our first "date" and she actually stuck around for a few months after that.
HAHA! Just another reason I now sip on tap water, instead of that brown water ---------- "throwin' pennies on the tracks and playin' in the rain...oblivious of the world around us that was going insane"

morena and I will be trekking from the east coast early afternoon I think, so not sure what time we'll get over there. menu looks good though, lots of veggie foods for me!
I seriously can't wait to lose my mofro virginity!!!

Course you went to Florida public schools fuhtha (yes, that's fuhtha) south than me so maybe you's right. Only about 75 mile south of me, but still south.

Probably more chronological than geographical. ---------- "Now if you happened to come down here tonight...and you don't wanna hear the person next to you sang, and you don't want'em to dance, cause you might spill your drink, you came to the wrong show in the wrong venue."
hey NICE ALE selection at this palce.. u know that's all I care about GOOD BEER!!!
by the way I just tried LEFT HAND BEER brewed in Colorado JUJU GINGER!! perfect on a hot summer day. yummmmmmmm... and ROGUE brrewed in Oregon Amber Ale is amazing as well. ENJOY!!!
All right! Y'all are gonna really like this place. It has a real comfy but artsy feel to it. Nice deck under a big oak outside, great variety of food.
As JohnDude mentioned above, Ernie Locke--the lead singer/harp player/man with the plan from Nervous Turkey here in Tampa--and his wife just opened the restaurant last week. It's in the old Seminole Heights area of Tampa...really cool.
Turkey has opened for Mofro at Skipper's, at BSRII, at The Freebird, and others. Ernie has been in the food biz all his life and this is the culmination of all that. We'll see if we can get him to whip out his harp and play a little for us!
Morena, I can attest to the smooth almost licoricey velvety sensation of the Oregon Rouge, so good I could consume warm and flat!! hahaha ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
yes indeed Sunshine, it's hard to get Rogue around here but I found out that The Green Turtle Market carries all of these IPA's and I'm in heaven. well pretty expensive per six pack but hey if I'm drinking those calories they better be worth it!!! and I can be a bit of a beer snob, well at least until I get drunk enough where taste no longer matters..
haha funny morena.........but seriously, you need to post a pic of the X
:o) ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
so I checked out the menu and basically I wanna eat everything on it ---------- "Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." -Nietzsche

I checked on Mofro's site, and you can't get tix for this show any more through their site. However, it looks like you may still be able to get 'em through the Ritz' website, www.theritzybor.com. I would definitely try to get them in advance for willcall, or you may be outta luck b/c it's looking like this show is a definite sell-out.
Also - side note - you may be thinking of a different Ella's? This one's only been open a couple weeks. Just didn't want ya headin' to the wrong place!
Thanks! I think it is the wrong place I was talking about. I just read the rest of this thread. The place I went to was Miss Ella's.
I checked the sites already and it is all sold out. I might have to man up and try to get tickets at the box office early tommorrow.
I would like to say a big FU to my boss, for giving me my requested day off before the day came. What a told bag. I requested these days off a month ago.
Well, actually, I can help you with ONE ticket for tomorrow... a friend of mine was supposed to be coming, but has just backed out a few minutes ago. So I got ya covered for one. Hopefully you'll be able to score one more tomorra!

It’s 2025 and my expenses to keep this site up are just over $800/yr. If you want to help offset my expenses to keep this site up please consider pitching in a buck or 2. Much obliged!
