I see where not many of y'all have clicked on the profanity rules from my post above. Which probly means that I'm too dry in my sense of humor. I ain't uptight...just droll in my delivery! The rules are pretty loose y'all. Lest anyone take it all too serious--and since I'm the one who brought it up to begin with--I've cut and pasted the more pertinent points. Enjoy!
Goddam Profanity Rules
Okay c'mon, you gotta be fucking kidding, right?
Well, yes and no. As far as the community forum is concerned, anything goes. That's what a forum is about (with the exception of profanity used to abuse, bullying or just being downright ugly...asshole(s) will banned from the forum. Same goes for anything sexually explicit or offensive. We're all sensible, we all know where the line is.)
In the South, profanity is not meant nor intended to offend; it's just part of the vocabulary. It's part of our blood.
We don't say: "The dog got out and ran down the street."
We say: "That goddam dog done run out the door and took off down the fucking street."
Doesn't that sound, well...better?
I endeavor to avoid profanity on the all the site pages, except on the board, and got no problem with others doing the same.
Lastly, the word "shit" is NOT a profanity! In the South, it's interchangeable with anything.
It's just part of the vocabulary. Not everyone is comfortable saying "fuck" at anytime, anywhere. But "shit"...she-iiiiiiiiiiit. We teach it in our schools as grammar examples.
Noun: "Don't step in that pile of dog shit."
Verb: "I ain't shitting you, I done seen a flying seegar."
Adverb: "I done so shitty on my driving test they done took my fucking driver's license away."
Pronoun: "I shit, you shit, he shit, she shit, they shit, we shit, it shit."
Personal Pronoun: "That fucker over there thinks he's the shit."
Proper Noun: "Mr. Shithead"
Adjective: "I got so shit-faced at the Mofro New Year's Eve show that I threw up on JJ."
Preposition: "To get to the fishin' hole, we gonna have to hack through all this shit."
too funny.......I read them about an hour ago and could not figger out how to post the link to it, cuz your gum bumping is down rite funny!! but you went and copied and pasted them...... ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
WORD. Learn it, live it, love it. Word. ---------- "Now if you happened to come down here tonight...and you don't wanna hear the person next to you sang, and you don't want'em to dance, cause you might spill your drink, you came to the wrong show in the wrong venue."
I will dew my best E, I will "try", just seems.....unnatural to use "word" like you-ins say to use it.. ---------- "If you've never seen us before, don't be bashful - sing along from start to finish........and dance & feel good.....there's enough shit in the world, let it all out...........Brighter Daaaaays...."
---------- "Now if you happened to come down here tonight...and you don't wanna hear the person next to you sang, and you don't want'em to dance, cause you might spill your drink, you came to the wrong show in the wrong venue."
Just checking it to state that…YES…I will be seeing Mofro tomorrow night!!! Be jealous...please...I sit here often and am jealous of all the shows over on the right side of the country I only wish you all we all coming!
DT you making it?
FB peeps...bets are there will be some drunk mobile uploads :)
Yeah it's all over the place but it's a fun thread! I'm so happy for you Kim cause I know you sit out there in SD hearing about all us back east going to shows, so now it's your turn!
DT is making it btw.
Giggles, as for the 7 words...hmmmmmmmm, I think there is one there that crosses the offensive line in a post. But if you've been to a Mofro show you've probly heard the other 6 from JJ his self!
I met Mr. Carlin about 15 years ago when I was working valet at the venue he performed at in Clearwater. I ran into him in the bowels of the theater after the show and he autographed and gave me a shirt with his face on the front...and on the back it read: "Simon says, "Go Fuck Yourself"". It was a warm moment for us both. Coolest 4'11" guy I ever met. ---------- "Now if you happened to come down here tonight...and you don't wanna hear the person next to you sang, and you don't want'em to dance, cause you might spill your drink, you came to the wrong show in the wrong venue."

Wow E.! That's awesome, thanks for sharing. George Carlin is one of my all time favorite comedians and I am sorry that I never got the opportunity to see him live.
Wait wait wait...with much restraint I can let the whole "bowels" word go without commenting, but you met him 15 years ago when you were working valet??? Geez!! What you were like 11 and they let you drive? You must be one of those guys that started shaving at like 6 so by the time you were 11 you looked 17.
I fuckin love the word "fuck", we don't have that word on my planet, soo much you can say with that
one time i was standing behind jj and he said'fuck', than quickly turn around and said, excuse me , i didn't realize there was ladies around and i said 'i don't give a fuck', he laughed ---------- "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." - Herman Melville
well I'm hear now, take advantage of me , i mean IT ---------- "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." - Herman Melville
