I just saw this.
right now I'm sittin at a reststop 20 miles away from detroit. we just came from WV , the allgood festival, while I was there listening to jackie greene one afternoon , nodding of in the grass, i heard someone behind me tryin to get my attention, didn't get it until she said"firefly' it was shira, beaufro and JD's cute little friend. she is travelin around for music just like me.
save travels to shira!!!
we will hang in detroit for a few days and than off to minnesota.
I just found out that we will be working in chicago for lollapalooza!!! very excited for that.

P.S while driving on a countryhighway thru ohio last night , I saw , no kidding, thousands of fireflies, i have never seen soo many

FF, very cool firefly siting that must have been indeed! I love your "free spirited" life across the county, and all the amazing music and folks you must come across in all your travels. You should keep a journal! Be safe and above all, have a wonderful time!

yeah and they call this summer, don't wanna know what winter looks like,
I met this girl that works the catering at festivals, she might be able to get me a job as a "festival pastry chef" , that would be super awesome!

OMG! That's like a dream come true.

For them that don't know, in one of her past lives on another planet in another galaxy far, far away FireFly was a pastry chef.

yeah i guess all the festivals nowadays bring a cellphone tower of some sorts, because I usually don't ever get any service. pretty cool.
just chillin before the wilco show.
I was just thinking about when mofro played here last year on the stage with the best views of 2 of the 10000 lakes.
it was also the first time i met lilbowbow.

I just remembered to tell you all a story.
so we went to royal oak to see wilco. it's very small venue. it was totally sold out, I wanted to get there early , see about maybe the boxoffice releasing more tickets and than hang around the area until showtime. we get there at 10.30 am. there are bunch of people hanging out, I think "great" , that must mean there is a chance for tickets. I walk up to find out from those folks whats up. and they weren't waiting for tickets, they were sitting there to be first in line to get in when the doors opened at 7.30pm!!!!
that is crazy i thought, so I hang around ,score one ticket from a lady whos husband couldn't make it.
still wondering about those crazy fans I started to talk to them to find out.
turns out that they are just like us!!!
they all met because of their love for this band on a messageboard, they meet up before shows, they looked out for each other for tickets, they travel and fly to shows, they stay in the same hotel and so on.
I think thats pretty cool, except maybe waiting outside for hours.
they told me when wilco played in chicago one winter, it was soo cold, well its chicago, the band send out hot chocolate .
One time one of them didn't have tickets and their TM hooked her up.
jeff tweedy makes a point to recognize them during the show.

sounds familiar?? It made me seriously smile to think that music does that people, no matter what style they like, but it's also the BAND and their down to earth attitude that does that to their fans.

pretty cool, right?

i think its time for another update.
after 10000 lake festival in minnesota we drove aaallll the way to NY. I cursed that ride all the way there.too long.
but I got to hang with some old friends and go to my favorite sushi place. ( i used to live there)
we worked all points west festival which turned into all points wet. the mud was disgustingly incredible.
not fun at all.
there was one day when the sun was out and we did some running around in the city, guggenheim museum, central park. ended up at battery park where arlo guthrie was giving a free performance. it was sweet to see fireflies flyin around in a little piece of green in south manhattan.
next stop: chicago. we took 2 girls we're working with us as they are running this event .
so right now I'm sitting on the floor of a tiny apartment in lincoln park. a friend is letting all of us crash with her, which is very generous.
yesterday we went to the art museum, its free on thursday nights. chicago is a great city.
we are handling the catering and artist hospitality departments at lollapalooza, should be fun...off I go.

Leave it to FireFly; she's the only person I've ever known that's lived in a sushi restaurant.

Thanks for the update! wow, you travel bout much as the Boys do. Hopefully you will have better weather. would have checked in sooner, but I am not at work in front of the puter, took the day off. Had to put 110 lbs of pork butts on the smokers last night and had to git up bout 7:30 this morning to start pulling the pork for a gig for about 100 folks for lunch today (ain't nuthin like eatin pork fer morning vittles hot off the grill and gettin those pieces that stuck to the grate - we call that pork candy!!), then I had to mow the yard, then played softball with the youngin, then came inside to clean up all the pork grease and bitties in the kitchen, Just had familia from WI and TN now gittn ready for the Mum in law tonight....gonna go and git make me a Cherokee Purple Mater and Crunchy Cuke sammich with a slather of Mayo on sour dough bread........

Til next time Firefly!!!

I can't read your posts about pork, sunshine, that makes me seriously hungry, lol

lolla was fun, i love chicago, great city.
watching bands perform with the chicago skyline as a backdrop was awesome.
we went to one late night show at the house of blues for sts9,
for you not familiar with chicago, there are these 2 identical condotowers, right on the chicago river , called the marine towers, they kinda look like a corn on the cobb with all the corn eaten off.
the HoB sits right in between those 2.
cool venue, probably my fav HoB of all of them ( I've been to the one in LA , new orleans and orlando)
I'm here for 2 more days, gotta work little bit tomorrow, goin to see phish on tuesday and than drive to arkansas to the mulberry mountain harvest fest on wednesday.
