The SurfinSnook Summer Jam folks said we could do a poll on the top 5 songs we'd like to see JJ play that day. They can't guarantee that it'll happen or anything but said if we want to do the poll then they'll try to put it in front of JJ.

Keep in mind this a solo acoustic show. It wouldn't surprise me if Will Conner, Joey George and Peter Stein came out and did some stuff with him though. And even if you ain't going, just imagine you are and join in the fun!

If you don't have a password and screen name to the board and like it that way then you can email me your picks to clay@mofrofans.com

I second "Pray for Rain". We need about 6 straight month's worth. Good call, Gigs. How about some "Hurricane" while we're at it.

Pray for Rain
The Hurricane
Fireflies
Florida (duh)
Tupelo Honey

Nice stuff y'all. Everyone keep in mind that we got at least 2 tapers going so even if you're not gonna be there, you'll still be able to hear the show!

Awedome Clay! I would love to hear the solo JJ performance. Any word about the Philly show being uploaded from 5-29?

Nice swkelley, throwing the a little bit of Goodbye, that would be stellar.

If I was lucky enough to go and be there I would probably go with,

Everybody's
The Truth
Dew Drops
Whitehouse
Brighter Days

Hmmm. Given the context of this show, I'm going on the assumption that Lochloosa and Florida are a given. Unfair tho it may be, I'm expecting them so I ain't wasting a vote.
I gotta sleep on this.
The Sun is Shining Down has to make my list, it's my wife's all time fav. After that, I have to mull.

Well I haven't decided on all mine yet but I know one for sure. Since JJ let the cat out of the bag with a new song on Friday I think we all ought to vote for "King Hummingbird."

If'n you dunno what I'm talking about then see the radio interview with JJ thread.

We need some to get on to recording this as fast as possible....

This interview is ridiculous... You guys can't tell me you don't want JJ to play Brighter Days solo at the Snook Jam after hearing this...

As for the new song, great lyrics and feel to it. To me sounds like a mix between Brighter Days and the Sun Is Shining Down. Wow, JJ back at it and ready to make us take yet another step back to see something great..

After a bit of mulling, here's my picks:
White House
10,000 Islands
Country Ghetto
Higher You Climb

Cover: T. Honey.

Apologies to my wife, I dropped her "Sun is Shining Down" - she can "unlurk" and make her own list.

And if she doesn't, I change my cover to "Long Time Man."

I love the Long Time Man mention, especially regarding a "light-hearted festival"...totally remeinds me of a show I have listened to a few times from the Archive, don't remember which one, but there's a brief story about some lady giving JJ shit after the set at MagFest about playing such a "dark" song at a "light-hearted festival" and that he, "should never play that song again"...he said he, "felt really good about it". Classic.

I've gone to a lot of damn shows waiting to hear that damn song live...and that beotch got to hear it and then beotched about it. Some people, I tell ya!

EDIT - End of track 5 from 8-12-06. Tension and Release!

This show was taped by UHollis and Liz (and it looks like they used The Dude's gear!)...thanks guys. The Bamboo Room shows will always be some of the best.

I was thinking Friday morn.
Scrolling up the list, I might chance a song or 5.

Picking a set list is a funny thing. What if he plays the songs - but then we missed out on something else that would have been earth-shattering? Or as you leave the venue, you think, "I forgot to ask for song XXX!" There is a bit of pressure here...

It's kind of like the question, "Would you want to know the date of your death in advance?" Except, of course, picking a JJ set is much more important.

I wanna re-think my picks. I just feel like this might be an opportunity to hear Mr. Grey cover a song he might not otherwise cover, certainly not at a full-on Mofro show.

For me, I know there are more than a few songs in my collection of music that, everytime I hear them, I think, "Damn, JJ/Mofro would kill this song".

And not to F--k up the thread, but since Seminole Wind has popped up here yet, this whole thing needs some re-tooling!

Well if we are talking covers, I would give my right kidney to hear JJ sing "Into the Mystic"
