Sunshine, you are sweet to ask about my lil' nephew. Baby Aaron was transferred from our local hospital to the N.I.C.U. at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Poor little mite was born 5 weeks early and has dysplastic kidney disease with ureter mal-function which is causing his urine to back flow into his kidneys, basically poisoning his body. Because he is so weak and slightly premature, he doesn't seem to know how to suckle and he doesn't have a rooting reflex, which means he is not eating. He has to be fed through a g.i. tube. He is going to have surgery some time in the next few days to correct his renal problems and hopefully afterwards the sweet little prince will be right as rain! In anticipation of Aaron coming home I have compiled a Lullaby CD of JJ acoustic tunes......got to start him early, you know! ---------- When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years, Then they expect you to pick a career, When you can't really function you're so full of fear, A working class hero is something to be
What a nice idea to make a lullaby CD!! I pray the surgery is a success. this isn't your sister that lost her husband is it? ---------- "No effort, no gain No effort, stay the same No don’t you ever try to live a lie"
In late December my brother in-law died. Actually, Roberto was my sister in-law's brother. I had known him all my life, went all through grade school with him. It was because of our friendship that my older brother met my sister in-law......but Aaron's daddy is my youngest brother. I know every thing is going to be alright and I know my JJ Lullaby CD will soothe him when he comes home! =) ---------- When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years, Then they expect you to pick a career, When you can't really function you're so full of fear, A working class hero is something to be
Giggles, best wishes to your nephew and your entire family. I think that Philly's Children's Hosp. is known as a pretty darn good place. I think that is the place that studies the DiGeorge Syndrome that my youngest son Mitchell, has. It is what caused his heart defect, and was why he needed open heart surgery almost seven years ago, at the tender age of just 3 weeks old. Mitchell goes in to Seattle's Children's Hospital in July for his annual check up. He will need more surgeries as he grows, to help fix his Truncus Arteriosus. His aorta did not branch off to the pulmanary artery and there for needed a repair, with a donated piece of artery with a valve, and as he grows, that will need to be replaced.... plus they fixed his Ventricular Septal Defect(VSD) which is a big hole between the lower chambers..Ventricles. Mitchell's first and only surgery sofar, was done at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, at Stanford University. It's all some scary stuff, but these little ones are pretty darn tough, and in some pretty darn good hands, from here and above .
Richard, thanks for your kind thoughts and for sharing your story. Mitchell sounds like an amazing little man! ---------- When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years, Then they expect you to pick a career, When you can't really function you're so full of fear, A working class hero is something to be
