First time I saw Mofro - Charlotte City Festival 2004.05.08 Went to see someone else and found Mofro. Good day!

Best Venue for a Mofro Show I've seen - Visulite Theatre in Charlotte NC (perfect view at the railing tables with wait service and lots of room to move, table was ten or twenty feet from stage at bandstand level with dance floor directly below you, crowd chatter makes it a bad venue for taping )

Best Performance + Most fun at a Mofro show - 2005.04.07 Visulite Theatre

2nd best Mofro show - 2004.05.08 Charlotte City Festival

Least fun Mofro show I've seen - Asheville 4th of July 2005 family celebration

Last Time I saw Mofro - Orange Peel 2009.03.28 (best technically sounding Mofro show I've heard...well yall have heard the LMA flacs)

Most overrated venue - all outdoor festivals, Mofro is best taken late night in a dive blues bar (i.e a smaller jookhouse)

Venues where I'd like to see Mofro play - Tabernacle (Atlanta) and Smith's Olde Bar (Atlanta)

It'll Never Happen Dream Concert Bill: Mofro, Cracker, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Foo Fighters, ACDC and Rush (not necessarily in that order)

Songs I'd like to hear Mofro Cover: Monkey Wrench, After The Gold Rush

My favorite Mofro lyric: Want a little peace of mind? Then grab the lowest branch and start to climb - We've been walking on air

State I'd like to see a Mofro show: Somewhere in Northern FL

Favorite Mofro Song: Brighter Days

Favorite Album: Blackwater

Favorite LMA Show: Smith's Olde Bar (Atlanta)

Last Time I saw Mofro - 2008.12.27 Delray Beach, FL

Most overrated venue - Freebird Live

Venues where I'd like to see Mofro play - Markhan Park, again, My Backyard, Bamboo Room

It'll Never Happen Dream Concert Bill: Popmano Beach Amphi. Phil Lesh & Friends, MOFRO, Jim Lauderdale. JJ joins Phil on stage to sings Easy Wind, Seminole Wind, and Phil lays out silly bass lines while JJ does a legendary Whitehouse.

Songs I'd like to hear Mofro Cover: Easy Wind, Alligator

My favorite Mofro lyric: "not expectations"

State I'd like to see a Mofro show: TN

First time I saw Mofro - October 2006 - Orange Peel Asheville, NC

Best Venue for a Mofro Show I've seen - Orange Peel

Best Performance + Most fun at a Mofro show - Hands down March 28, 2009 The Orange Peel

2nd best Mofro show - Variety Playhouse November 11, 2008

Least fun Mofro show I've seen - I guess if I had to choose it would be Bele Chere Asheville (outdoor venue) July 28, 2007; they came on like 3 hrs late cuz the band before them was late arriving at the airport

Last Time I saw Mofro - March 28, 2008 Orange Peel

Most overrated venue - have not found one yet

It'll Never Happen Dream Concert Bill: Que-ing up a whole hog in my backyard and invite all my Mofro Peeps over and hang out with the boys and when the sunsets behind the trees, they will take the stage and play for hours and we will be dancing all night long!!

My favorite Mofro lyrics: got a couple, I would have to agree with UHollis "It's the little things, little things, not expections, that make life, life, worth living" & "Time ain't standing still, and there ain't no way to get it back...." & "No don't you ever try to live a lie "

first show-april 9th 2006 at skippers
there weren't that many people, and I remember that when it was over I was like what? already done? I want more

I have a hard time with best venue, cause I've seen great shows in all kinds of venues.
anything in florida is uaually great because of the crowd
like a late night langerado set at culture room where jj was talking to his cup of makers like it was a naughty child
or a streetfestival in chicago where jj voice just carried nicely on a warm summernights that made tenants of the apartmentbuildings stick their heads out of the window
or the sweaty drunk messy crowds at the pourhouse on halloween and the engine room last jan

or the last show at the house of blues where we mofro fans just made it our own when we were chanting all the bandmembers names

venue I would like to see mofro play: my porch, lol

Fun Thread!

First time I saw Mofro - 7/27/02 - Freebird Live - Home Sweet Home, Frog Giggin, Take it back to the bridge, homework, gimme that drop - OLD SCHOOL CLASSICS!

Best Venue for a Mofro Show I've seen - Guess I'll go with the skipperdome, but a close second is the amphitheater stage at Suwannee Music Park. (GTD, this place would change your stance on Mofro festie sets) I love seeing Mofro outdoors, especially in FL. Just feels right.

Best Performance + Most fun at a Mofro show - This one's tough, Im gonna call it a 4 way tie. 12/29 & 12/30 2007 @ Freebird, along with 2/19 & 8/17 2007 Skippers. Sorry Just cant pick one.

2nd best Mofro show - Since I already named FOUR, I'll go with the 5th best. Shit, you realize this is damn near impossible. I'll go with the first show they did with the symphony, just for the something different. I still get the chills thinking about that pray for rain they did with the strings to open the show.

Least fun Mofro show I've seen - 2/16/07 Florida Theater. This was actually a great show, and the release party for Country Ghetto, but I pulled out in front of a Jacksonville City BUS a block from the venue and got CREAMED in my brand new xterra, so needless to say I was not in the best mood. I hung in there though, only missed the first three songs while filling out the police report. Nobody got hurt, so it all worked out. As a side note, this is the LAST show my wife attended with me ;) Coincidence?

Last Time I saw Mofro - Live Wire - Savannah 3/26 (my son's first birthday. I had to work for that hall pass. Damn I have a great wife)

Most overrated venue - Not sure I can think of one, they've all been great. Cafe 11 in St Aug is very intimate, but if folks are standing and its crowded, you can't see a damn thing unless yer front row. So there, that one. Live Wire in Savannah was the same way.

Most Unique Venue/Show - TPC @ Sawgrass - Super Bowl XXXIX Media Party - Its not every day you see NFL mascots in full costume rockin out to Mofro. My favorite was the Dallas Cowboy. He was gettin DOWN, right up front! I have a pic of this somewhere, really need to dig it up.

Venues where I'd like to see Mofro play - Fox Theater in ATL, Mojo BBQ in Jax Beach (although its way too small) Red Rocks (hey, one can dream right?) Lucas theater in Savannah

It'll Never Happen Dream Concert Bill: Mofro, Drive By Truckers, Perpetual Groove - "southern pride tour" Soul, Rock & Jam all in the same night

Songs I'd like to hear Mofro Cover: Cheatin Woman - Skynyrd, Use Me - Bill Withers, Maybe Your Baby - Stevie Wonder

My favorite Mofro lyric: Truth or dare / kissin' icky girls at the playground / sno-cones for foul balls / throwin' pennies on the tracks and playin' in the rain / oblivious of the world around us that was going insane -ALSO- My whole world was by that river / flowin' north to meet the sea each day / I don't want to move away (I currently live 5 minutes from that river)

State I'd like to see a Mofro show: Colorado, just for the change in scenery

Favorite Mofro Song: Tie between Santa Claus & Whitehouse

Favorite Album: Really tough, Love them ALL, but lets go with Lochloosa

Favorite LMA Show: 7/28/02 - Jakes Roadhouse (the first recording I accquired of the band, and a classic show, so this ones sentimental...)

............. With the full moon in my eyes.

Hmmmm.....since I am virtually newborn when it comes to MOFRO shows logged and duration of fandom, I am going to change up my stats a bit.

Missed MOFRO Opportunity that still has me cursing under my breath: Going on the Dave & Friends Cruise and not realizing that MOFRO was playing!!

Most Calories Burned at a Show: Engine Room ~ January 2009. I danced so much that night, I think I lost 10 lbs and I told JJ that too!

Best MOFRO Host/Hostess EVER: JohnDude & Liz, they graciously opened their house up to a virtual stranger.

Show Moment that made me squeal like a second grade school girl: hearing the first strains of Stagger Lee @ The Engine Room

Furthest Traveled to see a show: HOB, Orlando. Funny thing is that I have only seen the band 3 times in my home venues, otherwise all my shows have been road trips.

Favorite Show: Pour House ~ February 2008. My first show, opened with Brighter Days and a mid-set Tupelo Honey. Walked in the venue a casual fan, left a convert!

Funnest Show: Common Grounds ~ Gainesville. Meeting my fellow MOFRO fanatic brethren, drinking Firefly vodka, dancing with wild abandon, a great setlist and the aftershow festivities made this an experience to remember:)

Most Intimate show/performance: JJ solo at Park Avenue CD's, I think it was the only time I spent with FireFly where she was completely speechless :p It's amazing how powerful music can be when it's stripped down to the fundementals: One man, one guitar and songs that touch the soul!

Favorite Venue: World Cafe ~ Philadelphia, this venue has amazing acoustics and fantastic sight lines

Least Favorite Venue: HOB ~ Orlando, the room just had a weird energy/vibe to it.

Coolest MOFRO Performance: Free @ Noon WXPN Radio Performance ~ Philadelphia

My favorite Mofro lyric: "I am hopeful for where I'm goin' "

My favorite MOFRO album: Varies by day/mood, currently Lochloosa but is given to change at any particular moment

My favorite piece of MOFRO gear: My camouflage OB trucker hat, it makes me feel southern:p

It'll Never Happen Dream Concert Bill: A Special Evening with MOFRO & Van Morrison or an Acoustic Evening with JJ Grey & Neil Young.

Songs I'd like to hear Mofro Cover: To name a few: The Weight by The Band, Into the Mystic By Van Morrison, Superstitious by Stevie Wonder, You Can Leave Your Hat On by Joe Cocker, Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley by old school Robert Palmer and Brick House by the Commodores, actually I would like to see this interpolated into the middle of On Fire:)

2nd best Mofro show - 8.17.08 - Skippers

Least fun Mofro show I've seen - None Yet

Last Time I saw Mofro - 1.23.09 - HOB - Orlando

Most overrated venue - None experienced yet

Venues where I'd like to see Mofro play - Well...

It'll Never Happen Dream Concert Bill: Mofro, DMB, 311 & Jimmy Buffett

State I'd like to see a Mofro show: Mississippi

Favorite Mofro Song: The Long Way Home

First time I saw Mofro - They opened for Widespread Panic at The Wharf in Orange Beach, AL in April 2007, but Jeff made us really late. We caught only the last song! Argh!

Best Venue for a Mofro Show I've seen - I'd have to say under the oaks at Skipper's in Tampa.

Best Performance: They kicked ass at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville, AR in September 2008 (no tape, though, damnit!)

Most fun at a Mofro show: Hi-Tone Cafe in Memphis, TN - Sept. 2008. I had a very special impromtu meet-and-greet after the show.

2nd best Mofro show - Hal & Mal's - Jackson, MS January 2008 (no tape, damnit!). Well, the November 2008 show there was awesome too; and there IS a tape!

Least fun Mofro show I've seen - Missing the whole set at The Wharf!

Last Time I saw Mofro - The Varsity - Baton Rouge, LA - January 2009. Three months? Withdrawal is setting in.

Most overrated venue - Agree with UHollis - The Freebird. Why can't I bring my purse in with me?? Plus my ears were ringing so bad! Are the acoustics ok in that place? However, I love the balcony and other features there; and the lighting crew was great. And it was great to be with lots of awesome Mofro fanatics! However, the crowd did get a little rowdy!

Venues where I'd like to see Mofro play - Wish I could have seen them at Tipitina's in New Orleans. It's plenty big, and is so much better than the HOB.

It'll Never Happen Dream Concert Bill: Mofro with Otis Redding and James Brown

Songs I'd like to hear Mofro Cover: The Spy (or any other song) by The Doors

My favorite Mofro lyric: ...how can a man Lord chain a man? When I was young, you know that I believed in Santa Claus, true love, and freedom.

State I'd like to see a Mofro show: Alaska or Oregon

States I have seen Mofro in: Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, Florida, Alabama

Favorite Mofro Song: Brighter Days

Favorite Album: Orange Blossoms. I once had the chance to tell JJ that this was the best album I have ever heard in my whole life.

Favorite LMA Show: JohnDude's tape of Live at the Exit/In in Nashville - November 2008. OR Old school at the Soulshine Pizza Shop in Jackson, MS 9/6/2002.

Hmmmmm....maybe GTD is making a reference to you "seeing dead people" with your It'll Never Happen Dream Concert Bill?

GTD, I love the lyric excerpts of After the Gold Rush you used through out the thread=) Neil Young is one of my all time favorite performers.
