Ramps are a delicacy round here, they grow in higher elevations during a very short time of the year. We are in Ramp Season. We ate every meal last week with Ramps. We even have our own little party and call it Ramp O De Mayo and we celebrate the Ramp, Mexico's Independence and my little Rat Terrier Angel's birthday, which happens to be May 5th. Eat vittles with ramps and drink margaritas!!

Oh stop it........a skill is something I believe you learn......I was born with the passion for food & photography. I can remember my first 110 camera. I just always take one just about everywhere I go. Love to capture a moment in time.....bet I have 300 pictures of sunsets and rises off the Dunedin Causeway, before it was diminsihed by, I think it was Hurricane Elena, or sometine around that era. ---------- "Lord feel that vibe, Lord feel that vibe....."

I agree with Clay -- nice food and photos. Makes me hungry. Thanks for sharing. I've never heard of ramps, but I looked it up -- a wild spring onion. Delish.

Very cool, and sometimes eerie photos, Sunshine! Giggles, thanks! I use a Panasonic TZ3. It's a point and shoot with plenty of oomph. Panasonic makes some of the best electronics in the business, ya know. This is fun -- let's post more pics! A few more from past times:

WOW.......WOW......your sunset in San Diego left me breathless......ominous shot....did you tweak it in any way?
Who is the Rock Star?
Very unsual shot of Daryl and JJ....looks like you were on stage at that angle

Thanks! Nope, I did not tweak the sunset. It was that amazing! I used the sunset setting on my camera. It seems if you angle the camera in different ways, it captures different levels of richness of oranges. My cousin is not really a rock star. He is a musician, though, and I just thought that photo could have been an album cover!
And for that JJ photo, you should go to a show at George's. I think I remember that the stage somewhat juts out, the crowd is not so thick that you can get right up front without elbowing your neighbor. My friend Liz might have even sat onstage as she cried during Sun Is Shining Down (before Danny gestured at her). Anyway, it provided a nice angle for that shot, I guess!

Very nice, Sunshine! I'll try to get more photos posted soon, but it might not be for a while. I've got my last day of class tomorrow, then heading to New Orleans Friday. Won't be back in town til mid-May. Then it will be packing and moving time! It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me!

Well what a great thread to serve as the tip off to your new dawn Ashley!
You 2 take some awesome pics. I'm with Kimberly...it ain't the camera, it's that you girls have the eye for it. I hadn't been following this thread and have just been sitting here going wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, as I scroll down. Absolutely marvelous stuff.
Sunshine, I'd love to have a sunrise AND a waffle house on my way to work like you. Mmmmmm...waffle house. Where is mile high campground?

Hehehehe, that food shot was for fun. I can't compete with Sunshine on those! She has inspired me, though. I love to take photos of my food, but I just don't have the touch yet. I mean, take a look at this delicious hummus photo below. The hummus is great, but the photo isn't. I'll try more. New Orleans is a FANTASTIC place to photograph food! And by the way, Waffle House hash browns with tomatoes, shrooms, jap peppers, cheese, and onions can't be beat! Clay, didn't we eat that on New Year's Day in Jacksonville? That was the last time I had Waffle House.

Ashley, I wish you luck on the next chapter in your life. Where is your journey taking you to? I look forward to your photos! Have a blast in norleans and take a bunch of pics!!!
Food pic tip o the day: take the photo as if it were a person, move the camera around the subject til ya sees whats ya likes and take many shots.
Gimme, that is a very funny comment, I don't think I have ever eaten in a Waffle House........unless it was one of those 3:17am vittle runs from long ago.....
Clay - Mile High is just that, it is a mile up in the sky. Took Gregg 3 years to get its location from our UPS guy. It is on an Indian Reservation. It is not your run of the mill campground. It is always about 15-20 degrees cooler there. We love to go there in the heat of summer, it will be 85 when we leave, (30 minutes later - from our back door.....) and when we get there, it will be like 70 and 45-50 at night. We take the way far in the back sites (more private and Angel and the kids can run around), but here are a couple shots of one of the open sites with a phenomenal view. Here are a couple of breathtaking views from that campground:
Mountain view at Mile High
view from one of the semi secluded tent sites
view from an open camp site
Bro In Law deep fryin chikin wangs
view from our site before we had a little one that could drop off the edge
before the little one arrived
And the sunrises over those mountains....amazing canvas for God's artwork....... ---------- "Lord feel that vibe, Lord feel that vibe....."

Sunshine, she's moving to N'Orleans where's she'll be using dirty needles and gloved fingers in her profession.
One more tip Ash, for food shots...lighting/shadows/contrast is key. Bad or no lighting makes food look blechh. Side or back lighting can add a lot of interest.
