GimeeThatDrop has been working a deal for us to have a pre-show party right there at The Orange Peel. We'd have a private room at the Peel from 6:00 until the doors open at 8:00. Here's GTD's info from the Orange Peel thread (this needed its own thread.)
50 people can fit in the Front Room at da peel
It will have furniture & bartender.
You buy drinks and pizza.
If we use it for 2 hours and get 50 people then it would cost us 8 bucks a head. That's a great deal to get in early, no lines and hassle, get a table or right by the stage! Chow down and carry your groove into the big room to catch the show.
BUT we need 50 people to make it work this way. They're giving us the room at a discounted $200/hr.
So please jump in and let us know if you're in so we can make a commitment one way or another.

Clay you can put us down for 8. Lets hope we can get a big group, $8 is a great deal, we would be willing to go up to about $10 or so a piece if need be. I think we will have a great energy all hanging out before hand. So, come on y'all!!

We're on the same wavelength. I sent it out to the listserv about 5 this afternoon. I posted it as a comment on the myspace page then too.
To get it as a blog announcement on the myspace page and onto the mofro.net site may be difficult at this point. The band's management company runs the MySpace page while another company runs the mofro.net site but management coordinates it. In both cases they have several clients and we'd have to get in the que behind those before us that want their stuff posted right away (and they're paying clients.)
Also, it may be too narrow to post to either since we're only talking about trying to get about 25 people. Helps us but doesn't really do anything for them especially considering somebody'd have to drop what they're doing to post it.
I can't think of anywhere else (that's free) to post it. Craig's List but what's the chance someone is on Craig's List looking for Mofro anything? Far as I know tix are still avail. The local event press isn't going to give us any space cause we've got such a narrow audience. What about the venue? Do they have any ideas maybe?
Here's one thought. If someone can make some comment posts on articles that might help. Like if something comes out about the show today or Friday in the AC or MountainXpress then post a comment about the party, along with the URL to this page. If it could be posted as soon as possible then several people may see it.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to get the word out are welcomed, but please hurry.
I don't mean to throw a wet blanket on your ideas there GTD, because you're right, it's just that I've worked with mgt before and we'd have to give them more notice than same day or even next day. But keep that brain working man!

Right on - we got the $200 per hour rate 6pm to 745pm so they can get set up for the doors to open. You don't have to go back outside once you are in unless you don't have a ticket. If you have will call you can get that done without going outside into the line.
At 745 pm we will storm da peel's main room.
No cocktails, just beer & wine.
Let Clay know your pizza order by 5pm tomorrow.
We have to confirm by 5 pm tomorrow. Clay is gathering the names and will make the call based upon how many he gets.

First of all, thanks GTD for all the leg work!! Are we still at $8 a person or will it be more, only because many of the folks with me committed thinking it wasn't going to be much more than $10. Would it be crazy to maybe ask for the room for an hour? Just a thought.

I think you can trust Clay to keep it 10 or less.
Scaling back to 1 hour is a good idea if we only get 25 people. 200/25 = $8 each from 645 to 745pm.
It won't be as relaxed but at least we would get in early.

Sunshine, hey there it is the same pizza vendor that is available during the show after the doors open.
They said greek, pepperoni or cheese.
Clay put me down for a large pepperoni pie for the 4 of us. If we need more we will just buy it by the slice after that.

Any luck on the walking wounded Sunshine? Seems we're stuck around 25 people. I'm willing to kick in the rest but need y'alls help 2 ways: first, please show up. I'd prefer to come out of pocket as little as possible. Second, bring friends. I'll keep it at $10/person, my word. If we can get a few more people though it will really help out.
I'll firm things up with the Peel today and get a pizza order guess in. Since they have slices it's sound like any additional people can still buy pizza.
I'll get on the board tonight and see what's happening. Heading out from Savannah in a few minutes.
It's gonna be an awesome time at the Peel.
Show last night was great. The acoustics and sound system there is top notch. Considering there was 2 new members they were pretty damn tight!

Okay y'all we're all set. From 6-8 pm. (We have to vacate the room a few minutes before 8 so they can clear it before doors.)
It's $10/head. Cash bar. I've ordered a variety of pizzas. They're giving us the wholesale price on those so pizza will be pretty cheap.
We'll have our wristbands and all once we're in there so we won't have to go back out in the rain and get in line (90% chance of rain.)
At this point, don't worry abut RSVP. Just come on. Bring your friends. This is going to be THE party in town. Never know who might show up!

No no no. YOU are da man GTD. Not only was this your idea, you got the majority of the work done so's all I had to do was come in at the end.
I may be reading it wrong, but I think the $10/head may be enuf to cover the pizza too. GimmeThatDrop worked his wiles on them and we're getting a hell of a price. I'll make sure when I get there but it seems to be the case.
FireFly, my jet will arrive at 3:10 at Ft. Myers International. It will wait for you for 60 seconds n the tarmac. It will leave without you if ur not there. Bring rain gear. Raining now supposed to rain all night.

It was there. How could you have possibly missed it? It was round (kinda saucer shaped), had flashing lights running around the center, moved up and down and sideways at lightning fast speeds without making a sound, and said "Planet of Germany" on the side.
