I'm not sure what program you used to join the tracks together so it sounds like one show vs. several tracks from other shows. The SFC discs flow together seemlessly. This compilation goes from AUD to SBD between tracks and it's very noticeable. Track 10>11 is a noticeable change also.

That being said...I FUCKING LOVE IT!!!
Good to listen to a compilation by a fan for other fans! I've already burned a copy for Liz.

Keep 'em coming, I love it!

thanks for the feedback! I have made some detailed notes as I listened to it. It will get some tweaking. My #1 objective was to try and get the best quality tracks with the least amount of audience chatter so I didn't care about the SBD.AUD at all. I should go back and try to smooth out the transitions. There are not enough SBD recordings out there to go SBD exclusively. I could just use AUD recordings and live with the audience conversations or I could try and make the transition less obvious by using some applause transitions or something. If you have any suggestions let me know. I used Wavepad software.

I will Torrent discs 2 and 3 tonight.
Disc 4 is done and Disc 5 is gonna be awhile longer.
Disc 5 is gonna be full of songs that were in the SFC but have been updated somewhat and full of audience noiz.
This is the starting point for disc 5, but they can't all fit so let me know what you want.

new plan for d5 No SBD just the raunchiest, loudest, meanest & most recent recordings

Cuts that don't quite make it because of sound issues are:

Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
Lean On Me
American Trilogy
Turn It Loose

I really have gained an appreciation for the tapers.

TAPERS ROCK!!

I feel for them when I hear people talking into the mics, lone howling wolves & glasses/dishware clinging together.

Hey Gr8 Thanks!

What rarities and b-sides are you looking for?

I thought that between this compilation and the Southern Frieds that everything was covered except for the following songs where we need a bit better recording:

Lean On Me
Night They Drove Old Dixie Down
Turn It Loose
American Trilogy

Most of the rare songs are on disc 4!

Enjoy!!

Ok...I didn't look before I leaped.
Just read the track list for disc 4, you read my mind.

I listened to discs 1,2,3 yesterday on my drive from Orlando>Lakeland>Tampa>Winter Haven>Orlando and I dig that vibe. Great job on song placement, like The Devil You Know>Tragic that shit hits home for me.

Thanks again man, this shit it great!!!

thanks dude!

I downloaded Long Distance Call as an mp3 from UHollis' site, the link is somewhere in the pages of this board. Google will find it. I brought it in to my edit software as an mp3, edited it, split it and saved it as a wav, then I flac'd it and then torrented it. During torrent it gets ripped to pieces and put back together again -- kinda like beaming on star trek. This file has been through the mill, I'm not surprised that it is toast. It is the only song in all of the discs that was sourced as an mp3. I just imported the flac file into my software and saved it as a wav file. So mine isn't corrupt. The file may have been corrupted during torrent download --- who knows? You could try re-torrenting that file, but that didn't work for me when I had problems with skotdee's track 11 files.

Try torrenting it again - if it doesn't work I can torrent the wav file 16 bit, 44,100m Hz PCM uncompressed

Allright, I've got some rube questions.
Downloaded 1 & 2. Status says "seeding."
1. What does that mean?
2. Seems I can only play one song at a time, is it because it is "seeding," or do I need to manipulate the file in some way?

Told you - rube.
They sound fantastic, thank you.

1. Seeding is a good thing it means that you are now providing pieces of songs for other users

2. You should be able to load all of the files in a player. make sure you are using the file-add function in your player. It works great in Winamp using the up arrow to add all of the files.

Hey - brand new to the site, and pretty new to JJ as well. I can't believe it's taken me so long to find out about his music, but I guess better late than never.
Anyway, this looks like it is awesome, but I'm not able to get anything to download...shows that its connecting, or even connected, but no progress at all.
Is there a site/program that y'all suggest I use?
Thanks -

Well Hello there slick814!! Can't believe it's taken you so long to find out about this site, lol!! Hope you will visit often.

As for downloading these compilations........I will let the experts explain how it is done. something to do with leeching and seeding and the more leeches the faster the seeding, I think. Give it a day or so and I am sure you will be assisted. Until then, pull up a chair and hang around and explore the site while you wait. There is some fresh squeezed lemonade right over yonder........

I doubt any of those torrents are still active. Not to get into too big a bit torrent tutorial here, but Sunshine is right. A torrent has to have activity to work. Seeders to seed the show, and leechers to download it and become seeders themselves. But these torrents are old. All of the seeders/leechers have come and gone. So while you can still download the torrent files, there is no one around anymore to download the discs from. You'll probably have to find someone who downloaded these and have them either start seeding again, or create a brand new torrent, or just b&p the discs for you. I did not download this series of compilations so unfortunately I cannot help. Im sure someone around here did though. You're not the first person lately to inquire about these. Someone who has them all needs to make one big torrent that includes the whole set. I remember it being hard to keep up when GTD was initially seeding these, with all the different torrents, not to mention he kept having errors and having to reseed certain ones, or the fact that they didn't seem to go in order. Never did quite understand all that...

As a Yankee, by birth, I don't even know where to start, but I'll start here, that for anyone to start this thread, and have so many contributions to follow, is nothing short of what "Southern Hospitality" is all about. Man oh man, to think that y'all get some sort of bad rap, or have been discounted over the generations for being what... a bit slower (heat and humidity), courteous(hmmmm properness...British,French,history and respecct)soul(church, and a little bit of God once in a while)respect(be it taught or forced upon, it is still there), food(everybody's gotta eat),yes sir, yes mam,(just because)and hell what ever else I am omitting, is just a deep part of what has gone MIA in this Country. Since my Dad's parents were from the South, and my Great Great Grandfather came here from Enland, and settled down South, it is in my blood, as much as my own father would like to not accept at times, I can't help but wonder why ? You all ooopps, Y'all treat folks known or unknown with a level of decentcy, regardless of internal thinkings(yet I am not oblivious to the outward thoughts that take place)that frankly has been lost by a great majority of our citizens. My trip to the South back in the 80's was an eye opener, to the civility and history of this country that in great part only exists in the South, and it flavors not only the land but it's people, and it is not all bad, but rather refreshing when found in the right places. It is the sharing that makes this site one of great joy. Thanks gang !

Thanks for the replies! I guess I need to do a little beggin' here, then... does anyone have these on disc? If so, would you be willing to B&P a couple for me? I'll be more than happy to send the discs and a return mailer for them. Or if there's a way to get a couple torrents reopened?
And Richard... as a Yankee myself,(northern MN is about as far north as you can get and not be in Canada), I agree with your post!
I lived in the Martinsville VA/Eden NC area for a few years after I got out of the military, and once i learned a couple things about local culture, felt right at home! That was because of the people, not the climate.... too hot and humid in the summer, and believe it or not, I missed the cold weather. But I still have a few friends down there, and they're some of the best folks I've ever known.
Anyway, thanks again to y'all for the replies, and I look forward to getting to know you in the future.
Ain't it great how music brings us all together?
