thanks. we really enjoyed the show at the Bluebird. tiny stage but we did miss him on the keys. i brought about 8 friends who hadn't been converted yet. Believe me brother, they are now. thanks to jj for playing she's on fire per my friend, jess's request.
i think he likes to switch things up a little, so it won't be same thing show after show. plus playin the guitar he can shake that booty more ---------- "..they outta outlaw airconditionin' in clubs, let mothafuckas sweat aaaall night looong .."
I am just always so damn happy to see MOFRO, JJ could play triangle the entire set and I'd still leave the show satisfied =) Seriosuly though, 2 of the 3 shows I saw recently featured JJ exclusively on guitar, and I can honestly say that all the shows were wonderful! JJ and the boys bring such an incredible intensity to the stage, that the audience is literally entranced by the performance, be it with JJ on paino or not:) ---------- everbody moving, everybody grooving, everybody lettin' it all get loose

I hear ya hollis, what was that, Nov '03? I remember it being a surprise that he had played keys, funny how now folks expect it.
I gotta say though, certain songs just sound better with they keys imo, lochloosa, brighter days, fireflies come to mind, even newer ones like circles, on palastine, higher you climb... Just can't beat that electric piano vibe & tone.
I agree with Giggles; JJ could sing the alphabet song or London Bridges and I would walk away satisfied!! ---------- "Lord feel that vibe, Lord feel that vibe....."
First time I saw them...JJ had long hair & sat on a chair. He blew harp & sang.
I don't remember him even playing guitar, but my memory ain't that great, definatley no keys.
Personally I enjoy songs like Blackwater, Brighter Days, and Florida with JJ playin' keys.
But I also like Harps & Drums with just Harps & Drums.
Regardless, I'll still go see 'em live anytime! ---------- "throwin' pennies on the tracks and playin' in the rain...oblivious of the world around us that was going insane"
