Wow, I bet that was one hell of a frat party...

Bummed about the keys, wonder whats up with that? Yeah, I know Scone can play the parts, but JJ's keyboard style is irreplaceable imo. I sure hope thats not a permanent thing.

Oh and AMERICAN FREAKIN' TRILOGY??? Glory Glory HALLELUJAH! I can't imagine how sweet that must've been with all those horns. My GOD I hope that stays in the rotation a little while.

Thanks for the Update Danny!

And so how does one go about a “Private event?”
I mean if a fraternity can do it....it gets my mind thinking

:)

And while I do like additional piano- I also dig watching JJ play the guitar- adds a little something extra to my ears

Hollis and I have talked more than a few times about having a private list party back when there was just the Mofro list. We wanted to have it at the Bamboo Room....two nights.....first night open to the public and second night for list members only. Unfortunately, it never happened.....maybe one day!!

oh the horns were UNEFFINGBELIEVABLE for American Trilogy. that goes for the entire show too. those 3 guys were a GREAT addition.

VA Beach was an awesome time. can't believe they put together such an awesome show in a little over a week.

oh, JJ kept thanking everyone for showing up on short notice and said he couldn't believe how many people showed up. he also kept mentioning they didn't have to leave until 4 so they were gonna keep playing. i actually thought they were when they didn't leave after Mojo. he did his usual "thank yawl, we are Mofro" and then right after he took the mic off the stand and sorta chuckled and started telling us they were playing the Democratic Governor's party in DC tomorrow (tonight) and that they wanted to learn a new song just for that but they were gonna play it for us and the only other time they had played it was for soundcheck. then American Trilogy...rest is history.

If all of us chip in and do like a fans only show I am down. But where? Pinellas County or Hillsborough County?

I could see the band play Coachman Park in Clearwater (FL)...but I'm sure the security would be a lot of $$$$

I could also see the band playing Vinoy Park (St. Pete, FL)..but again security would be a lot of $$$

I have another crazy idea as well..my hometown of Largo (FL) has Largo Central Park and the Largo Cultrual Center..both places are small (with the exception of the huge park) and the Largo Police dept is always willing to help with security. I saw The Neville Brothers at the Largo Summerfest in the park last year, and it was a blast. There's also a hotel right across the street from Largo Central Park and the Largo Cultural Center.

But then again this is my fantasy to see this band by the water and/or around Pinellas/Hillsborough Counties in Florida. And I understand on logistically inprobable this would be outdoors with stage, band mates, crew and security.

If we could think of a place indoors would be even better...private night a Jannus Landing? The State Theater? What About any Tampa places? Tampa Theater? Just shooting some thoughts here...

I actually looked into a private showing about a year ago and the person I had spoke with said that for the whole band, gas, etc. runs "about" 5K. We could easily get even 100 people to chip in $50 a head........wheels they are a turning........

I have another idea as well...Actually this idea is from Jake:

Have a show at Ft. DeSoto Park, or at the Fort itself. There's not sound ordinace there and you'll be on a exclusive island with no one around.

I'm down to pitch in for this, hell I can cook Puerto Rican food for the band b/c I'm sure they never had it before. And my boy Jake can whip up some southern food...and definetly get that Ho(e) Cake crackin'

Dang Frank- you’ve been thinkin’

Side note:
We have about 60 acres of nice usable land in Oklahoma a couple miles from Lake Eufaula. (yes I know its not Florida- but that we’re my peeps are from)
just throwin’ it out there

How about something for a charity?
Man the logistics though would be a nightmare for something like that..

Sunshine- 5K?? even if its double since then…that would be do-able

Count us in!

Yes, I was told roughly 5K depending on how far they had to travel, but if they have to travel to their backyard..........Heck, we could canoe the Ocklawaha River and set up camp......yes, even if is double, and it is 10K, it is still very possible. I have a bunch of peeps in Pinellas I have turned onto Mofo, but are still "virgins" that most surely would be interested.

I love the way all y'all are thinking! Keep in mind though that the site gets as much or more people from outside Florida than in Florida, much less the Tampa Bay area.

Perhaps this could be done in a couple or so areas of the country. Or perhaps instead of the Tampa area go further north like Gainesville-ish. That opens it up at least to people in N. Florida and S. Ga and S. Ala.

Otherwise, I'm gonna sit on the sidelines on this and let y'all keep brainstorming and see where it all goes. Frank's brain is going so fast I'll bet he's got smoking comin' out his ears.

But if y'all really think this is gonna keep going somewhere, I'd ask somebody to open a new thread for it so people can find it. Otherwise it'll get buried here in under the wrong topic. Thanks!

What about if we tied this in with the Dream Setlist contest? If everyone that submits a setlist also makes a donation in the amount of $50, the winner of the contest really could have JJ play in their living room, and of course everyone that made a donation would be on the guest list. Wishful thinking, I know, but just imagining JJ playing my set list in my home is enough to cause me to go into cardiac arrest!

i think if it happens we should try for an "all-request" show.

of course that would take some voting. a poll that lists all the songs they've ever played but you're only allowed to vote for a certain amount of songs...then the results are given to the band and its up to them to put them together as a set.

PERSONALLY, i wouldn't like going to the show knowing what the setlist was gonna be already. i get that enough with DMB. i don't need Mofro doing that too. but thats just my thoughts on it.

I totally see your point and agree with you dc. Like I said, it was more a matter of the wishful imaginings of the band performing in my living room (not that they would even fit) that prompted my illconceived post:p

All ideas are good giggles! In the brainstorming process it's good to offer all ideas--no matter how "ill-conceived"--because they lead to other possible ideas. No thoughts are bad at this point! Keep 'em coming y'all!!

DC, I didn't see you in VA Beach. Looked for ya, but the crowd was pretty hefty. American Trilogy was definitely my favorite and it came off so well considering it was practice. Didn't sound like practice to me.
Must admit, I wasn't feeling too well at the show. Oh well, it happens sometimes. But I'm real glad that I went.

Peace and Luv,

Hey DC, I was right next to Anthony Cole in the back corner. I had on a salmon colored hoodie with butterflies on the back of it. It was kinda dark back in that spot, so I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't notice me. Hopefully I'll see ya next time you're round my way.
