The 17th is correct. I've emailed the website folks about the error. You see 'em on the 17th, we see 'em on the 22nd. Sorry--but I KNOW you will find a way!!

Hey DC! Yeah, I've been flyin under the radar for a few months. Right now I'm azz deep in lawyers...divorce really sucks.

Anyways, on to the positive. Yeah, I saw the VA show today over on the MOFRO site. I'd have to make a few arrangements, but I think I might be able to make it down there 8-) Been jonesin for some FRO and been playin the 12/27 show (Thanx JD and Stan 8-) for a fix. Live FRO would be even better!

And here's some happy news. I'm gonna be in a documentary about Go-Go music!!!!!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) I'm not in a band or anything, but the documentary folks wanna interview bands and fans. So I'm pretty excited bout that 8-)

I'll definitely let ya know either way about VA Beach. Oh, and Happy New Year Everybody!!!

Hey Mo! I have only ever heard of Go-Go music while living in Washington, DC. Most people I talk to outside the area don't know it. I got to see Chuck Brown open for James Brown at the 9:30 Club! Fantastic stuff! More cowbell, please!!

Hey dirt, click your heels together 3 times and say "we want an in-store, we want an in-store, we want an in-store." Never know, could work.

(I wouldn't do it in public though cause people might think you're crazy or sumthin.)

Shit gig. Don't start in with football or somebody'll start a throwdown! As for the in-store, click and wish but don't hold your breath. And it's nice and warm down here but I hear that there's a big arctic front arriving late next week.

Actually Clay, I have chosen to pack my floogles and snow shoes for this epic Tsumani Blizzard. I am not coordinated enough to attempt surfing a tidal wave! Hell I'm barely coordinated enough to walk across the room without hurting myself!:p

DC, I really hope you get your in-store performance, I even clicked my heels 3 times for you:)

Surfing lessons? Hell, if he'd give me one in VA Beach, I walk down there! Though I am pretty sure that any attempt at surfing would end in a very painful hospital stay for me, but it would be worth it!

Hot Buttered JJ and the Bluegrass Mofos. That's some funny shit right there, I don't care who you are.

Uh-oh. When FireFly and giggles and antsyashley see that, they're gonna get all in a dither thinking about JJ covered in hot butter. I can' hear 'em now.

On a less silly note, I was traveling last year and needed a budget hotel to crash in and hesitantly turned into a Red Roof Inn. I was SHOCKED. The chain has re-done all their hotels and, while they're a step below a Hampton or Marriot Courtyard, they're very acceptable for a good 20% to 30% less. I bring it up because I'm pretty sure I also remember them being pet-friendly. Maybe all of them aren't but I thought I'd just throw it out Mo.

I stay at the Red Roof Inn 5 minutes from Hal & Mal's when I see the boys in Jackson, MS. $50 for the night, clean, safe, no problems. $5 taxi ride to the venue. Rarely a next door neighbor to complain.

I would have commented on the hot buttered JJ, but Clay beat me to it. I'll remain the upstanding individual that I am.

OK, I'm in for tomorrow! Thanx for all the hotel help. I looked up that Travel Lodge and it had some bad reviews, so I'm goin with La Quinta instead.

So for VA Beach it'll be me, Big L and my two fuzz butts back at the hotel. Looks like the Jew Mo (that's what they call it on their website) is a good place to eat. I'm thinkin about maybe gettin dinner there.

On an unrelated note, to anyone who is thinking about comin up to DC for the inauguration on Tue, take my advice - DON'T COME, STAY HOME! DC is gonna be a HUGE cluster F-ck on that day. They're closin all the bridges but one on the VA side and you can only get in by Metro bus, Metro rail or H2O taxi (for $90 round trip). They predict that the lines to get onto the public systems are gonna be hours long (they're tell folks to bring their own food and water just for the wait in the lines).

Plus, get this, the news says that the city is expectin over 4 Million people on that day and the Government is only providin 5,000 port-o-potties. I think that comes out to one plastic pottie for every 850+ people! Now that a LONG azz line... The hustler in me is thinkin bout goin down there with a rack of Adult Diapers and sellin 'em to the folks in the port-o lines. $10 per diaper, man, I could make a fortune!!! That's genius!!!

See ya at the show!

Peace and Luv,

The Best West was my number two pick, but I found out that they don't allow pets. The last time I stayed at a Best Western was with my gal pal Jeni in Charlotte, NC (for a MOFRO show of course 8-) Man, that place was a dump! I remember when we got to our room, there were what looked to be pubic hairs woven into one of our towels, YUCK!!! We named that joint the Pubie Western, cuz it was so gross that we had to laugh about it. If anyone sees Jeni anytime soon, ask her about the Pubie Western, LOL! She'll know exactly what you're talkin about 8-) I'm sure your Best Western will be fine thou DC.

Let's see, I'll probably be rollin in some time around dinner time. I'm thinkin maybe after 6 or 7PM.

Peace!

i'll be there right around check in time (4 i think) then its grub time. i'll look for you when i head over to the Jewish. of course i'm gonna be near the stage and wearing a black DKNY fleece. DKNY is in big white letters. can't miss it.

dirtcracker's been giving me a play by play since he left home this morning headed for VA Bch. It's fucking cold...his friends coming from MD had car trouble and ain't making it...he got stuck in traffic at the Hampton tunnel...he ate 2 dozen oysters and said they were worth the trip alone...said the Jew Ma is like a little cafe with a stage, if AC stands up he'll hit his head...he didn't find Mo earlier, don't know if he did ever...said he thought he saw one of the guys from Hill Country come in...said he was psyched cause the crowd seemed to be 50/50 on guys and girls (he's there solo)...then texted back he was bummed that he was wrong and it was more guys...they got 4, count 'em 4, horns on stage tonite...no keyboard for JJ (again)...and he's giving me a count on the playlist:

Orange Blossoms
Air
Circles
A Woman
Wrong Side
Higher You Climb
Lochloosa
Ybor City
Move It On
War
WYLF
Dirtfloorcracka
Ho Cake
Jookhouse
E1: Sun is Shining Down
Mojo
(deleted)
E3: American Trilogy (Elvis cover; first time ever played!)

Sitting in the whole evening:
Al Street--guitar
Alex Norris--trumpet
Van Battle--trombone

AND, he saw a taper there. Thanks dirtcracker for the up to the minute news!

you left out Everything Good.....its ok. i know my setlist was a little complicated to read with it being split in like 8 (maybe more) texts.

i'm almost 100% certain i stood beside Mo for most of the show. i believe they put hallucinogenics in my oysters because i immediately began sweating when the show started. drank 3 cups of water, still sweated. kept seeing people i thought i knew but was totally off everytime. lol

finally retreated to the back of the venue where i found 2 friends from Charlotte. it was cooler back there, but it only slowed the sweat.

got hooked up with a setlist. thanks again Danny. On Fire was cut from ending the main set. boys rocked out for a solid 2.5 hrs. they were ALL having a blast on stage.

and like JJ said, he's not sure Elvis wrote American Trilogy, but he sang it in his comeback tour in Vegas. yes, that one. you know, black leather suit and all.

so glad i made the trip.

American Trilogy was written by Mickey Newbury in 1970. It is a merging of three Civil War era songs; "Dixie", "Battle Hymn of the Republic" & "All My Trials". The song has been covered over 400 times but most notably by Elvis.

DC thanks for sharing, sounds like a great time and hey, a little sweating is always expected & encouraged at a MOFRO show:)
