So a few of us folks over on the Listserv finally woke up from our afternoon naps and noticed that no one was around. Turns out everyone was over here.
Nice little site you got going...Johnny-come-latelys!
I saw my first Mofro show in Oxford at Proud Larry's in 2002. Drove over from working in Muscle Shoals on a weeknight, spend the night at the Rebel Inn, then drove back to work the next morning. It wasa a Fog CIty Tour with Papa Mali as the opener. Apparently the band was not aware of the strict midnight curfew and Papa played until 11:30, so Mofro only got to do like 4 songs. JJ was clearly pissed, as was I, but it was still worth the drive.
I have seen them 2-3 times a year ever since. I'm pretty sure that the October show at the Variety was the first time that they played Atlanta that I didn't see them. I have seen every lineup of the band except the new drummer. Hope they come back through in the spring so we can rectify that situation. The wife and I would really like to make it to some festivals this year, esp. if Mofro is playing (it was hard this year with a 1-yr-old).
Anyway, thought I would say, "Hey." I invited some of the other old-timers to introduce themselves, but it's hard teaching an old dog new tricks. Look forward to meeting some of y'all down the line.
Welcome Aboard Jeff, so glad that you found this little oasis of MOFRO appreciation! ---------- everbody moving, everybody grooving, everybody lettin' it all get loose
Hey Jeff, Remember that one night after the MOFRO show, I think it was Kevin Lowe's birthday & we were at the bar roaring like pirates & clankin' mugs really loud?
That was friggin' awesome! ---------- "throwin' pennies on the tracks and playin' in the rain...oblivious of the world around us that was going insane"
Wow, quite the MOFRO discussion goin' on over here. I'm converting from the old Listserv too and checking in at Mofrofans... good stuff.
Well, I'm kinda like Jeff from the ATL in that I've been seeing these boys for a long, long time. Bimbo's 365 in San Francisco back in December 2000 was my first time, that was for the "Big Night Out" gig with Robert Walter, et all. Seen these cats from Mofro in, shit, 15 states or something like that. Most memorable have been the Chicago (home away from home) and Florida shows (Skipper's, Langerado when it was up in Hollywood). I'm now living in Minnesota and they get up here very infrequently, so I have to travel for my Mofro these days. Next show should be at the Galactic / Mofro gig in Park City, Utah next month (Feb. 13). Can't wait to meet some of you up front.
Hell YEAH I remember that Dude! But what I remember most is you doing the snake or some such shit on the dance floor during the JC's opening set at that show in Athens. That was about the funniest damned thing I ever saw!
Damned happy to see you guys "over here." We have a good time, yank at each other's chains, and generally act stupid. You know; normal shit. Seriously glad to have you and I'd welcome any input you have to make the site better.*
Thought you guys might recognize some other old timers such as yourselves (I am in awe of folks that have seen the band for so long.) This thread's on page 8 of the board. When did you first see the boys live? ---------- MofroFan1 MOFROFANS.COM -- all Mofro, all the time
*Except of optimizing for Firefox. I just ain't had time to do it yet. I will. Promise!

It’s 2025 and my expenses to keep this site up are just over $800/yr. If you want to help offset my expenses to keep this site up please consider pitching in a buck or 2. Much obliged!
