Sorry folks. Please don't shoot the messenger(s). I got this email just a few minutes ago from Josh at Alligator Records:
"HI Clay.
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings on the day after Thanksgiving, however the JJ Grey in-store performances scheduled to occur at Ear X-tacy (11/28 at 6 PM) and at Grimey's (11/29 at 5 PM) unfortunately has to be cancelled.
I got a call from JJ's manager last night at 8:30 PM CT informing me that JJ has seriously strained his voice and we have had to cancel all the extracurricular activities we had planned for JJ so that he can preserve his voice for the gigs at Headliners tonight and at Exit In tomorrow. The two main shows in the markets are still on.
At the show in Chicago on 11/26, at one point during "Country Ghetto" I noticed that his voice seemed a bit froggy. He toughed it out through the rest of the show and was hoping he'd be able to make it the next couple of days, but he just doesn't want to do any permanent damage. Since the in-stores were free bonus events, we decided to cancel these so he can still make the more important actual shows
As you can guess, it pains JJ greatly to have to cancel, but ultimately, the most important events are the shows and the fans that are paying to come out to see him. Rest assured, we will do our best to reschedule these events the next time he makes it through the markets
As you were kind enough to post the info about the in-stores on your site, I wanted to notify you as soon as I could.
Certainly not a great way to end Thanksgiving, but we know what a trooper JJ is and if he's concerned, we have to take that seriously."

Awww, poor JJ. He sings his heart out for us. We wish for you a speedy recovery!!

its all good jj,aint nobody mad over here. and if anybody holdin a grudge somewhere else -fuckem.
me personally-and I can probably speak for everybody else on here- I really appreciated everything you do and how much you put yourself out there. you're awesome ! so many people love you, respect you and admire you for what you do and for how you treat your band, managers , fans and everybody else.
we absolutely LOVE your music !!!
and so for obvious selfish reasons we want you around for a looong time .
please take care of yourself . :)

P.S. in courtesy of johndude I just spend a 13hr car ride listening to all kinds of live mofro recordings, you think I'll got sick of it? heck no !
can't wait to see you and your awesome band later !!!

Well said FireFly. Glad you got to a computer. I just left a msg for Liz and for JD...figure they must be napping. I didn't know if you guys had arrived somewhere and seen this thread. Glad y'all got there safe and sound! Have one of them call me when they rouse.

I’m Clay/MofroFan1, the guy who started this back in 2008. Seventeen years and running and no intention of stopping because Mofro fans are the best fans ever.
