Christy & Zane...some of my favorite people! ---------- "throwin' pennies on the tracks and playin' in the rain...oblivious of the world around us that was going insane"
Christy and Zane, eh? I'll look out for em. I think my mom is coming to the show with me. And I know a few folks coming down from Memphis to check it out.
Too bad, everyone bailed on me. Won't stop me though! I can't wait for Saturday. I have had a not so great few weeks and am looking forward to letting loose with Mofro Saturday. ---------- Good things are goin' on!
Just got a newsletter from Hal & Mal's. They show they're having "An Evening with JJ Grey & Mofro". Yeah, I am all about that evening! I wonder if Van is touring with his trombone too these days. Any chance 'Tupelo Honey' will be played at this Mississippi venue, I wonder!?
Wonderful wonderful time was had by all! The Jackson fans are great! The show sold out. And everybody in that joint knew all the words to every song. There was so much energy and love for the guys. Lots of dancing and singing and screaming. No Tupelo Honey, but that's alright. I didn't get a set list. Maybe Danny can post for us? Please? Great to see all the guys. I had a lot of fun hanging out with Art at the bar before the show. I drank a few too many beers, and some of the night is a blur. My friend Josh came up from New Orleans and was de-virginized (to Mofro). He loved it, even though he didn't get there til 11:30.
Thanks, Mofro, for a fabulous show!
I remember in no particular order: WYLF, Fireflies, Country Ghetto, She Don't Know, Mojo Workin', I Believe, Mississippi -- maybe the rest will come to me later in a dream....

Thanks for the review Ashley! I am so glad you had such a fun filled & funky "Evening with JJ Grey & MOFRO"! There is no better way to spend a Saturday night than building up a sweat, groovin' to fantastic live music and drinking "a few too many beers"!!

Thanks, giggles. I love these pics. Somehow I went the whole evening without taking photos during the show. I did take 2 really jumpy videos that I will probably upload at some point.

Thank you!! Isn't JJ the greatest?! I am not sure what that interesting and beautiful instrument is in the photo. I wish I had a better picture of it so y'all could see.
Hmmmm.....maybe it's an electric sitar? Doesn't he play electric sitar on "Move It On"?
Haha! I should've checked the setlist before I posted, they didn't play "Move It On", so your guess is as good as mine as to what that "beautiful instrument" is :p

A cigar box guitar? Now that truly is interesting! If I am not mistaken it looks as if JJ is holding it, did he perform with it? If so, what song? Inquiring minds want to know!

Like I said -- I had a little to drink Saturday. I am pretty sure this was handed to JJ at the end of the night. It's a new toy -- built by a Jackson native. Yep, he's holding it. And a beer too.

Y'all, I am so embarrassed. It turns out I met Archie who made the cigar box guitar. He says it has a good electric dirty blues sound. I have to go back into my memories and try to sort that out. Dang! No more Maker's Mark for me!!

ash, the trick is to keep yourself on the right side of the edge, if you disrespect the whiskey it WILL kick you in the ass and throw you over ! lol trust i've been there.
We'll have a teaching/practicing lesson in delray, to get ready for new years.
A warm Florida welcome to Mississippi BluesBox. That is one helluva instrument you have created man. Beautiful work. In case anyone missed his website address from above, it's HERE.
Now, giggles, as for the photos Ashley. Radiant? I dunno. The one of her and Art she looks buzzed. The one with her and JJ, she's got a twinkle in her eye, and something on her mind (and you can't see her hand) but I ain't thinkin' it's radiance...

HAHAHA! Well Clay, I went with the word radiant to describe the lovely Ashley’s glow, because I didn’t want to project my rather ribald thoughts onto her…… And talk about hands and their placement on JJ’s person! When I met JJ, he was sitting down. He made a motion to stand when I walked up to him, but I told him to stay comfortable; that I would come down to his level to have our picture taken. Well I was wearing the cutest pair of stacked heels, so when I went to hunker down next to him, I sort of lost my equilibrium and was teetering on a full-fledged fall. In a sheer panic at the prospect of face planting in front of him, I blindly reached out to steady myself. The first surface that my hand encountered was what I used to keep myself upright. It just so happened that my balance board turned out to be his…….thigh! Of course that was the exact moment when our picture was snapped! He must have thought that I was a stark, raving man crazed, maniac groping him up! But he was the epitome of a gentleman and never even blinked at the fact that my hand was quite high on his thigh! Though I love the picture, I am still mortified every time I look at it!
We got a little late nite party going on with the night owls. I'm guessing from looking at my web stats that ants, giggles, estan and me are holding the fort. dirtcracker would be here, but shit, he and brigzz and others are seeing Mofro and we're just here jonesing for 'em.
giggles...I got your number

A video for you crazed fans -- from Hal & Mal's. This one is the end of Fireflies and the beginning of Country Ghetto. Sorry it's bouncy. Don't get vertigo while watching!
LMAO! Firefly your response cracked me up! You and I think along the same lines:p I almost fear the trouble we are going to get into in Jacksonville.....almost!
Firefly, it's never too late to give your input! I could use some "sense" about now. Kimberly, thanks for the comment! Yeah, I can see some wild nights come New Year's! And Kimberly, we'll be seeing you in Tampa!
