Just been texting with dirtcracker. He said they burned the house down with Mojo. Then he came back and said "the guitarist from HCR just came out and went ape shit."

Then he texted that it's the BEST concert of ANY band he's ever seen.

Then he called me so I could listen to the encore: Junior. It was a little distorted--I couldn't hear JJ talking during a little reprieve--but the band kicked back in and it sounded like a harp throwdown, I'm guessing with JJ and the cat from HCR. It was one kick-ass encore. Awesome stuff!

Dirtcracker's keeping us up to the second y'all!!

So I finally woke up from last night. Without a doubt THE BEST Fro show I've seen to date. The crowd seemed to know every word to every song. At one point JJ stopped and said it was like we were all just part of the band, we knew the words, we knew when to juke and jive and we knew when to slow it down.

Neighborhood Theater is also one of the coolest venues I've ever been to. I'm planning on making it a regular spot for me to catch shows. It's taken the Orange Peels place as my favorite spot.

I knew the night was going to rock when i was standing off to the side in the seating section watching the Hill Country Boys and I look to my left and Adam Scone was standing next to me. He even was gracious enough to talk for a minute or two. Then I walked around to the bar and AC was standing there. Giant of a man I swear, maybe he could be the modern day Stagger Lee?

Anyway, I'm glad I fought off my cold and decided to go to the show. I actually feel great today, maybe it's the healing power of great music????? I have some pics and video I will share with whoever would like to check it out. Not sure how great they are just yet though. I was doing a lot of moving around and dancing.

On a side note I finally got to hear "Woman" live, it just took 2 years of shows and it was worth the wait!

I was looking for firefly and dirtcracker but wasn't lucky enough to run into you guys. Unless you were that 7 foot tall guy that always seems to end up right in front of me even if I am only 2 rows deep. ;)

Can't wait for the stop in my town on November 19th! In store performance and a great time in my own back yard.

- Fav song of the night was Jookhouse, followed by Lochloosa ( which gave me chills ) and then I Believe. Cody Dickinson from HCR came out and played JJ's piano and accompanied on vocals for I Believe and it was amazing.

Another great show from the band that makes the show about the fans. I swear the tickets are worth 5X what you pay.

Brig -

i was over in front of Scone and FireFly was almost dead center front. i'll be at the G-vegas show on the 19th. some of the girls i was with last night may also be heading down.

Clay - it was just JJ on the harmonica during Junior. a DAMN GOOD 10min version. JJ was talking during the song that he wanted us to go on tour with them cause we sounded so good.

my review -

i'm usually not big on giving reviews other than whether the show was good or alright or what not. but last night, it had been almost 3 years since i had seen a show that good. but last night, just completely blew that show away. that says alot because my all-time favorite show before last night was DMB at Madison Square Garden 12-10-05. i know some people are haters of that band, but that venue always merits an awesome show regardless of the band playing.

but last night, completely blew me away. i think all bands have that defining moment with a fan that just leaves them damn near speechless. that was this show for me. from the opening chords of War to JJ taking off his jacket after the first song and rolling up his sleeves of his shirt i knew we were in for it. then the crowd singing for Lochloosa and JJ orchestrating us while we sang Air to us singing Mojo. i've never seen a crowd that into a show before. we were truly all part of the band last night.

and hot..omg was it hot in there. i don't recall anyone standing still. everyone was in the groove. i sweated through bluejeans, was dripping sweat. then as soon as the show was over and i stepped outside it felt like it all froze on my body. so refreshing.

could be that it was because it was JJ's birthday, but i've never seen them play that good. i've never seen ANY band play that good. so this will truly go down as a landmark for me.

i don't know if there were any tapers, but i hope for all of you youngins a recording of this makes it way to you.

Dang I was close to you guys. I was dead center about 3 rows back. I have a full video of Woman, parts of I Believe, beginning of Lochloosa (before I decided I just wanted to enjoy it instead of video it), 5 and a half minutes of Mojo Workin' ( got all of Kirk Smithhart tearing up that guitar!! ) and some random tidbits of Junior at the end. I'll work on putting it together in some form to share with everyone. I didn't see any tapers but I hope someone got it so I can relive the experience.

Coming to the Greenville show? Maybe we can meet up. I'll be at the solo show earlier in the day right down the road at Horizon records and then the party will begin from there.

yeah i'm definitely gonna try to get to town early enough for the first show. i was thinking about that today on the drive back here. i thought about lots in 4.5hrs. lol

we'll definitely have to meet up. brewskis!

i felt a little shafted at Neighborhood last night. first vodka bull was in a wine cup...then i went back and got 2 for the same price and they gave them to me in 16oz dixie cups. omg. lol i think i impressed, or maybe scared, the group i was with when i showed back up drinking from both straws.

So that was a show...I'm so glad that everyone was dancing down front, it gets my circulation going!! I was the old guy (circa 1968)in the country getto shirt and crew cut, trying to hide (unsuccessfully) my bald spot. As Paul Simon says, I'm getting "soft in the middle."

Anyways, what a great crowd!! I was over by Scone about 3-5 rows back. From the way it sounds all y'all regulars seem to stay up front. I'm glad I joined you. If I had stayed further back I might have gotten conservative and just tapped my foot!

It's hard to not make comparisons but back when I was young,(boy does that sound lame), Bad Co. couldn't step out in front of this band. Passing of the torch?!

JJ has a feel for the pulse of something that has a bit more meat in it than just another flash in the pan. Songs like Gal Youngin' and Turpentine speak truth to an era when hard work was the norm and bitching about the stock market was non-existent- cause not too many people even cared or had the cash to put into it. Other songs (Circles, WYLF, Tragic, and Air) seem to create a container for contemplation of things beyond self absorption. There's some real staying power here.

Personally, JJ Speaks to me at a time in life where I'm watching my five year old go off to school for the first time, my dreams get a little smaller or more realistic, friends dying, my old man and Momma are getting on, and my paychecks shrink a bit more than I'd like. A friend of mine once said that if you haven't had much sorrow yet...live a bit longer. JJ and Mofro has made that message a bit easier to swallow- at least for me. Anyways not trying to get too serious but I haven't been moved by a band like this since the Dead.

Y'all keep representing and I'm saving my pennies for a cheep flight to Orlando! Mofro and Micky Mouse that will make the whole family happy!
