I know..."recorded live set" is an oxymoron, but I couldn't think of what else to call it.
Mvyradio.com, a very cool station out of Cape Cod recorded the guys set from The Ottawa Blues Fest in Canada this summer.
It will be live this Thursday at 9 p.m. EST. It's going to run on broadcast (92.7 and 96.5--Martha's Vineyard area) and stream at www.mvyradio.com at the same time.

Seeing as how I don't have any drapes, my neighbors might catch a glimpse of me busting a groove! Though I guess this means I shouldn't erect my portable dance pole in the living room, huh?:P

Will be fun to hear a pre-Orange Blossoms show [been overloading myself on OB these days!].

I think I'll let that last one go giggles. In the last 2 posts you've said 'shakin your money maker,' 'dance pole,' and 'erect.' I'm off to the showers. You 2 nice young ladies need to remember there's a lot more dirty-minded guys on this board than there are gals! ---------- MofroFan1

FYI, this station has a few shows on archive with JJ Grey & Mofro, including this Ottawa show, plus interview from 2007 SXSW, plus JJ singing cover of Tim Rose's 'Long Time Man' at SXSW (new one for me!). You can listen to any of those at any time. See this link and scroll down: Archives

::hangs head in shame:: I am nice, I swear! Sometimes I type before I think! It's a troublesome condition that I suffer from. I've been trying to find a medicinal treatment that will cure me of this ailment, but no such luck yet.
Thanks for the information ashley! You are a super sleuth when it comes to digging up information and sharing it with everyone else, your skills & efforts are greatly appreciated!

Man, I LOVE "Long Time Man". I have the version from night 3 at the Bamboo Room a few years back in heavy rotation. Tension and release...it leads into DFC and completely kills. Happy listening!

Dang, my friend came over and I missed the Otis Redding goodness. Well, at least it's available to listen any time! She had to drop off some skeleton earrings for me to wear in New Orleans for Day of the Dead this Saturday.

Ah, NOLA....my second home when I lived in Pensacola. Used to drive over for shows all the time, then back afterwards with just enough time to take a shower and head to work.....ahhhh, those were the days. Late night Radiator shows and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale drafts!

All the Bamboo Room shows were just incredible. JJ and the boyz loved playing there.....he said many times that it was his favorite venue to play.....and his playing and singing always showed that! Unfortunately, the Bamboo Room shut down earlier this year....and though many of us still hope that it will reopen, things aren't looking good. I have a few Bamboo Room Mofro shows which aren't up on the archive that I will upload and I would suggest you download them all.

I second what sw said on the Bamboo and also look forward to the recordings.
As for Purple Haze, I've tried that before. It was really, really good...didn't drink it though. ---------- MofroFan1

More Bamboo Room shows? Damn, Stan...why you holdin' out on us, Brother? I never got to see a show there, but being the LMA barnacle that I am, I have "been" there many, many times thanks to you and other tapers. Its glaringly apparent that the guys loved playing there, after all, JJ proclaimed it to be, "the best room in the United States of America". What more could be said?
