I've just finished up adding a dungheap of recent setlists. I got some more still; I'll get 'em up soon.
I couldn't figure out for the life of me what to do with 'em, so I ended up putting 'em on the setlists page.
BTW, does anyone know how many dung make a heap?? ---------- MofroFan1

HEY! I'm from the South and we always spelt it ya'll. Although you are right it does sound more like yawl. I could put up a poll...
Looking it up in the dictionary would be lame.

We got any West Virginians on the board? Need y'all/ya'll/yawl to jump on in here and tell us how in the hell you guys spell y'uns. And, equally important, are they always interchangable?

According to my upbringing, y'all is a contraction between you and all. An apostrophe is a replacement for missing letters. You spell it Y'ALL!! Now, my momma was an English teacher, so THERE!

y'all - ya'll
this is actually a strange little contraction. either way you spell it, it defies the normal layout. in a normal contraction (isn't, wasn't, doesn't, we've, you've, i've, etc..) the last word loses letters and is replaced with an apostrophe. with "y'all" the first word loses letters and if spelled "ya'll" then it doesn't follow code. lol

Half my family is from Wild & Wonderful (W VA that is 8-) I've never heard none of my family say Y'ins, Y'uns, or whatever. I've only heard that up in Pittsburg. They also call the vacuum the 'sweeper' up there in PA...messes me all up cuz in my mind that means 'broom'.
But yeah, I'm with antsyashley and her Mom on this one. I always spell it y'all cuz to me that means 'you all'. The other way - ya'll, means 'you will'...like 'Ya'll be comin round the mountain when you come, Ya'll be comin round the mountain when you come...'
8-)

I was born and raised in northwest PA and the "Y'ins" accent is a Pittsburgh thing (or at least western PA thing). Typical Pittsburgh conversation:
"Y'ins goin dahntahn for the Stillers game today?"
"Yep. Sure hope they beat them Iggles. They're a bunch of jag-offs."
Jag-off is a popular insult, as in "Clay would be a jag-off if he ever stopped this site."

Too funny y'all/ya'll/yal'l/yuns/yins.
I do stand corrected on the y'all thing. Now my fingers won't hit the right keys though. And actually I'm sitting. So I sit corrected; Y'ALL are right, I'm wrong. You're right dirtcracker, it's a strange contraction. Hat's off to Mo for being the board grammarian! Please hang around cause I need more of your help!
I spent some time in Clarksburg WV and that's where I first heard the yins..and you've jogged my foggy memory on that. Yep, that's how they said it. I'm LMAO at how you got the accent up there nailed. (Clarksburg may as well be in PA; it's been literally 30 years since I was there, so for all I know it's a suburb now.) ---------- MofroFan1
