Well, for starters, it's not a group of firefighters nor are they a 4-man hockey team. First hint is that they're a band, or were a band would be more accurate. They weren't a big national touring band, they were a local club scene band. What local club scene? Ain't tellin'. I'll tell you it was in the early to mid 90's. There's a couple guys in there that some of you out there might recognize. Soooo...start guessing.
UHollis, skotdee, gr8ful98, whereuat, and whoever else already know this don't get to guess.
The one who guesses the names of at least one band member gets 50 points, 2 members 100 points. If you're the first to name of the band you get a 200 point bonus.
(The points ain't worth nuthin. No value, ain't good for nothing, nada, zip. BUT, points can be accumulated over time and do not expire. Points are fully transferable and can be passed down to heirs. Upon 10 years, points will double in order to keep up with the cost of points. If you use your points between now and Sept 19, 2078 then you can use them again up until 2099 at which time they will again double in value. This offer is not void in states where prohibited by law. For more rules or questions, 100 points are required.)

Daryl on left, JJ down low. Cheme in middle? But this obviously an old pic so not sure how JJ would know Cheme so long ago.. Not sure who that is on right.
Funny pic for sure. Where'd you find it?

Well shit. I forgot about Danny. You turd. I take back everything good I ever said about you. Of course YOU know who it is. Or is it that obvious? Regardless, you're disqualified and you'll be awarded no points.
That means that whoever can name the band gets double the double bonus points meaning that the double points snatched from Danny double down to double the double points bonus double which is double the first double for the double you get for naming the band. Got it? That means the person naming the band will get 11,722 points. (See above for what the points will get you.)
I took a pic of that pic at CD Connection in Jax Beach when there to see JJ's acoustic set. Terry has it hanging by the cash register. He showed it to me; I was pointing out to people hanging in line and several of them had to be convinced.
When do you think it was taken Danny? I have no idea (no points awarded, just answer the question you bloody carpetbagger.)
JJ and Daryl are looking so...hell I don't know how to describe it but I thought it was some funny shit (especially the lids.)

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding,...we have a winner! Yes Kimberly it's Alma Zuma, JJ and Daryl's band before Mofro.
Since Kimberly and her husband are the hottest couple on the board she gets--wait for it--double the points!! That's right Kimberly, for knowing the name of the band you walk away with a whopping 23,444 points...congratulations!! Everyone else participating gets a free copy of our home version so you can play the game at home with all your family and friends.

Hey DA, you're very resourceful, I like that. UHollis may know. If I were a bettin' man, that's who I'd wager on. Oh, and Danny; he'll know more...if he ain't pissed at me calling him a carpetbagger and a turd (well, he IS; at least one out of the 2.) I'm doubtful there's anything recorded laying around--other than maybe at Daryl's house or JJ's house. Terry at CD Connection in Jax Beach (geez, he's gonna have to start paying me a penny for every plug I give him)--that's CD Connection, the beaches only indy music store, new-used-vinyl, they have what you're looking for...CD Connection--he may know something. That's where I took the picture of the picture.
I do know where to get a little more info about them online but it's in a very obscure database that I have to dig through and then remove html coding from it--long story. When I get some time I'll do that...be a couple days.

(Oh and thanks firefly...that's what I live for. If I can crack up just one person in one day, then my job is done.)
Okay, this keeps getting more interesting. First, I just noticed that Santa Claus, True Love & Freedom is on the album. And check out the band line up (this is what you see, along with the song list, when you hit the link above.)
ALMA ZUMA D Hance - guitars Remo Nissen - bass J J - vocals Don H - keyboards Jim E G - drums J J/Remo - background vocals
With Special Guests: Chris Norton - trumpet Van Bottle - trombone Bob Reynolds - saxophone Eric Mason - percussion
First of all, I don't see JJ's last name, and it appears it just did vocals. DA, is there anything else, or was this all you found? Did he use his last name, or just go by "JJ". No first name for Daryl. And no last for Don or Jim. Also notice the trombone player is Van Bottle. He is the trombone player at this year and last year's Blackwater Sol Revue, and was on the tour with the guys for a couple weeks after this year's, and he sits in with them when their in the NE sometimes. (He's gonna spend a couple more weeks on the road with them soon. He lives in NYC.) And somebody has his name spelled wrong because I was told that it's Vann Battle. (It's probably Von Boattle and we all have it wrong.)

Unfortunately that is all I can find. The album art actually is on Eric Mason's website who is listed as a special guest on the album. Maybe I'll shoot him an email too to try to track down some of the tunes.

I'm still waiting on Hollis to chime in. And I'm betting on Danny knowing something for sure. Hang loose til they come around. They check the board every day. Hollis is probly pissed at me for excluding him, especially since the Yanks fan came along and spoilt it. At some point Danny has to respond to me calling him a carpetbagger and turd cause everybody will think he's a sissy if he don't. (Oh...and it's the Mets, the METS, I'm sorry Danny...Rudy Guliani's team, that's right, Mets.)

There is at least one copy out there. It's on cassette at the Library of congress. Paste the following link into your browser. http://lcweb5.loc.gov/cgi-bin/starfinder/475142/sonic.txt Never knew JJ's full last name.

I've tried a few times to get the link you posted to open up, but to no avail. Might you be able to check it out? I'd love to see it, I'm sure others would too. Thank you!

That one was waaaaaay to easy Clay. I know one person that has the Alma Zuma album....in fact, he burned me a copy, but I think it's at the bottom of one of many boxes of cds that I have in storage. Richard's (of Dotty and Richard) cousin (or was it nephew), Robert, has the cd and burned me my copy. Haven't seen or heard from him, or Richard and Dotty, for a long time now. Sure hope they are doing well......some fine people right there!!! Where are you guys?!

Yep, the pic titled "How Time Changes" on Big Jims myspace page is the one I was telling Clay about a while back. JJ in his white jumpsuit with the mullet....and Daryl with a headful of long hair....too damn funny!
