I hope JJ don't lose his voice from all these interviews.
Here's a blogger in San Fransisco that just interviewed JJ today. Other than the guy saying that Orange Blossoms came out in 2007, it's a good interview. JJ talks some about songwriting, his experiences...there's some good, and funny, shit in it. And the blogger doesn't ask JJ "...du-uhh, where did the name come from...?" HERE
In today's Tahoe Daily Tribune, the interviewer mixes talk about JJ's inspirations with talk about the musical composition on OB. At the end of the article is some neat stuff about some of the songs. As usual, picky sumbitch I am, I noticed the writer says JJ plays organ, and calls Adam 'Adam Stone' (sounds like a movie or TV spy) Most importantly, inquiring minds want to know why was JJ calling from a Memphis laundromat?(Antsy...didn't you see them in Memphis??) HERE
Greater Ozarks Blues Festival review I include this one not because it's a review or interview with JJ or anything, (although it has nice things to say about their set) but for 2 reasons. First, because I'm pretty sure that ansty ashley was at this show, and second because--and maybe it's just me--I got a real laugh of seeing the golden arches behind the stage. It'd been really funny if Burger King was sponsoring the event. HERE
Folks are talking about Mofro on JamBase. I dunno if anyone wants to get involved or not in the discussion going on over on JamBase about the video and the new CD. It's all generally good. It's interesting to lurk, but some of them folks piss me off with their comments. I want to get on there and tell 'em off. Which don't serve a lot but to get my blood pressure up. So I tend to stay away but ya'll can do what you'd like! HERE
Daryl speaks Yep. You heard it here first. An interview with Daryl. NOT! But he's quoted. The Telluride Daily Planet had a write up a couple days ago about a performance The Greyhounds were doing. Deep in the article was talk about their new album. They got a quote from Daryl about it. Well, actually, it's a second-hand quote and for all I know they may have paraphrased him. But hey, I don't write this shit folks I just point you to it. They spelled his name wrong, but that's not his fault! It's a very in-depth quote where Daryl gets into the finer elements of the musicalities of The Greyhounds new work, and talks about some of his shared inspirations. Uh huh. HERE ---------- MofroFan1

Hey Clay -- I sure did see them in Memphis a week ago (oh shame, has it been a WHOLE WEEK?!). Still reeling from it though -- fo' sho'! Funny that article says JJ called in from a Memphis laundromat. When I saw that great big black tour bus beside the Hi-Tone cafe, I just knew there couldn't be a washer and dryer on there. And I thought to myself, "I wonder where they wash clothes?" And I figured they must stop at laundromats when necessary. And now I suppose that confirms it. So weird how serendipity ties everything in all together. I thought that was a real good article. I like the personal touches: Jerry Reed dress style, meanings to songs ("The Truth" is my fave on OB), and JJ refuting the accusation of being "too overproduced". I love it. And it's neat to hear a little about Dan Prothero's perspective on making an album.
I just read Daryl's quote in the article about The Greyhounds. That is too funny!
As for the Jam Base peeps -- I saw some of those postings the other day, too. Ya just have to chalk it up to ignorance. They don't know what they're missin'. I said to myself, "Mofro's not for everyone." As strange as it sounds, I guess it's true. Though I don't see how!!
Mofro all the way -- every day!!
