I hit a milestone once. Put me in the hospital for weeks. Should have seen my wrecked car. Rectum hell, damned near kilt him!
But I digress. THIS thread is all about ansty ashley's milestone--reaching 30 years old. It sounds like she's had a pretty full life (I say that about everybody who's lived in 4 different states and 2 countries before they hit 30.)
Happy birthday Ashley! I hope it's your best 30th ever. ---------- MofroFan1
Ok, midnight has come -- I am officially 30 years old! Yes, my birthday is 9-11! Thank you so much, Clay, for recognizing it! It is indeed a milestone. Perhaps deserving of some reflection?
I have led a grand life thus far, and I hope it continues well into my old age. I have been to Europe numerous times. I have backpacked across China and traversed the Great Wall. I taught English to kids in Korea. I climbed a volcano and went scuba diving in Indonesia. I was a paid actor in the Festival d'Avignon in southern France. I got a degree from a school in Florida and lived it up all the while. I have seen moose, eagles, and sea lions in Alaska. I watched condors soar over the Grand Canyon, and have gazed upon the magnificent stars in a clear sky.
I protested as a pro-choicer on the National Mall in Washington, DC. I volunteered for an independent Presidential campaign. I rubbed elbows with international dignitaries. I have held the hand of many amazing people facing cancer. I have raised money for that cause. I worked with hurricane evacuees and provided comfort in their time of need. I traveled lots with my mom and I share a birthday with her mom. I have kissed the cheek of my aging grandmother with Alzheimer's Disease. I have been jailed, tattooed, beaten (not all in the same day!), but I have also been honored. I have made the most wonderful friends, and I have forgiven some terrible actions against me.
I have eaten fresh figs and blackberries straight from the trees. I have drunk wine from some beautiful vineyards on our beautiful planet. I have eaten raw sea creatures of the strangest kind -- straight from the sea.
I have dreamed. I have loved. I have cried. I have wished for a better world. I have worked hard and I have played hard.
AND I HAVE DANCED TO SOME OF THE BEST MOFRO SOUNDS EVER PLAYED. And I have discovered this awesome community of others who appreciate the soul and the groove and the passion -- of all that this great band stands for.
Every day I am grateful for the amazing gifts in my life -- the people, the experiences, and the opportunities. One woman does not deserve so much!
Love, peace, and Mofro!! ~Ashley
P.S. I am not normally into birthdays -- but I suppose this one is special. By age 30, people finally start to take ya seriously! ---------- No words can say....
