Ok y'all, I just can't contain my excitement! Classes got canceled today and tomorrow due to weather/flooding around here. Therefore -- I am headed to Memphis tonight (will get in JUST IN TIME for JJ Grey and Mofro to hop on stage), Springfield, MO tomorrow, then Fayetteville, Arkansas Saturday night. I cannot believe my good fortune.

Anybody else gonna be at any of those shows?! I know dweezy will be at Fayetteville. Anyone else??

Message from Memphis at Hi-Tone - 9/4/08

Ok, sorry, no setlist! Dang, lemme see if I could get today's setlist tomorrow. If not, I'll at least get tomorrow's.

Now, down to business. Y'all -- how amazing!! Whoa!! No kidding there. JJ was in full force. Voice was amazing. Guess, what? Trombone player in the house! Van Battle. I got to chat for a long time with him. In 2 hrs, he is hopping on a plane to go back to NYC. Won't rejoin the band til November or something?

I can't begin to describe what a wonderful night this was. I got to meet all the band members -- nicest guys ever.

The guys played lots of stuff from Orange Blossoms. The title track, Everything Good Is Bad, WYLF, The Truth, She Don't Know, Ybor City, On Fire. Maybe The Devil You Know (?). They also played some awesome stuff from other albums.

I danced my tail off. And I might have had the best night of my life. Can't wait til tomorrow!!!!

Good to see you had a good time Ashley. Sounds like your travels are going well and the guys are really showing up for everyone. Best night of your life? I don't doubt it, that is until you see the boys again of course, and then again, and again, and again...

Ok, I haven't been able to sleep at all! Just remembering some more songs they played:
Higher You Climb
War
Circles
Hoochie Coochie
Lochloosa
Lazy Fo Acre
Air
DFC
Ho Cake
Jookhouse

And that's all I remember at the moment. I caught a little on video -- and a few photos. I'll post sometime after I return home.

Yes, the guys are really bringing it. The music was perfect. JJ, AC, Scone, Art, Dennis, Van, and Daryl -- all tight and groovin. The crowd was great. The merch table was busy. All smiles!! Thanks for letting me share the joy!

Hey folks -- It's pretty late here -- 2:30 am in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Just got back from the show at George's Majestic Lounge. That was a phenomenal show. Lemme say -- I have NEVER seen/heard "Florida" played like that. The guys jammed soooo hard.

I got lots and lots of photos and video from the show -- available soon for your enjoyment.

And guess what else? I got a set list. Art himself gave it to me. And he corrected the songs that were changed during the show via "Audible." Meaning, JJ decided to change it up as the show continued on.

Here's the setlist (with changes indicated):

Orange Blossoms
WYLF
Everything Good Is Bad
Lochloosa
Lazy Fo Acre (Changed from Air)
Higher You Climb
DFC
Devil You Know
Florida
Jookhouse
On Fire
By My Side
Ybor City
War
E:
Sun Is Shining Down (Changed from I Believe)
Hoochie Coochie Man

Now that I look at the setlist, I don't see "She Don't Know" and they definitely played this. It sticks out in my mind because it was so beautiful. It had a quality that it didn't quite achieve Thursday. And I could tell the guys were a lot happier with it. Nods and approval in each other's direction.

The crowd was big and loud and happy and lovin' it! My friend Liz was so surprised and overwhelmed with "Sun is Shining Down". She leaned against the speakers and felt the vibration as she teared up. It was a pretty special moment all around.

Biggest compliments to JJ and all the band. You have certainly made a lil' o' country gal as pleased as pie. You are awesome and your talent is ever increasing. Until next time!!!

You're right, they did play (and end the show with) Junior, and also She Don't Know which are both absent from the setlist.
