I got some news today from an official source that should surprise none of us. Sales and radio airplay for "Orange Blossoms" is jumping higher than a mullet in spring.
After 1 week here's where it stands:

#4 Debut Top New Artist Chart
#26 Debut Indie Chart
#186 Debut Top Current Album Chart

Since most of us ain't in the music biz, they tell me those numbers are fantastic (and they sound fantastic to me even though I don't shit about them things!)

The first week had 3,290 scans (sales), which is up 2% from the first week's sales of CG. When it was released, there were 4 in-store promotions the week it
was released. With OB there was only the one last week.

Radio airplay is picking up quickly too. Over 65 stations have added the single, and the ones playing it the most include stations in Milwaukee, Ocean City MD, Northampton MA, Wilmington NC, Grand Rapids MI, Chatanooga TN, Lexington KY, Bozeman MT, Breckinridge CO, Boise ID, Santa Fe NM, Santa Rosa CA, and Sirius Spectrum to name just a few.

Some of us wonder sometimes if there's anything we can "give back" to the band. Well...yes, there is. CALL YOUR LOCAL INDIE STATION! Request to hear "Orange Blossoms." It's the only single released from the CD but stations have the full CD so I suppose you can request other songs too.

Or email them the same. Best still, go on their site and find out their schedule--what times/days they play certain genres--and then email the announcer/dj ahead of time and ask him/her if they'll put it on their playlist.

Chances are you're only going to have luck with AAA format and community funded stations. Chances of it being picked up on Clear Channel's playlist are slim to none and slim done left the building.

So let's all do our share--the more airplay it gets, the more CDs they sell, the more CDs they sell, the more revenue is generated, the more revenue generated means we could someday see things like backup singers on tour with the boys...

You're right Clay. No surprise how well the album is doing. I've been sharing it and spreading the Mofro love. It's a big hit with everyone. I am so glad to hear how successful it is quickly becoming.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

My mama always told me sharing was good. She's not around any more so every now and then I run up to a kid and steal his candy. I feel kinda stupid afterwards, yet somehow a sense of satisfaction. (Sorry mom.)

From time to time, ants, tell a friend to buy one too, eh? I mean, just the ones with money; I dig the struggling, starving student gig...been there, did that.

Seriously, I'll keep you in the loop as much as I'm kept in the loop. Thanks to the band's managment and label and others for sharing info with me so that I can share it with ya'll.
