AWESOME time yesterday at CD connection folks! Great to see JJ's excitement for this new album/tour. He was all giddy, chatting, signing autographs, taking pictures, etc. We were like freakin kids in a candy store, took me forever to wind down after. I don't know how the hell Im gonna get any work done the rest of this week.

Heres what he played:

higher you climb
she don't know
orange blossoms
ybor city
I believe

The set WAS taped, but it was too late of a night to get it uploaded, I should be able to put it up tonight. Recording turned out GREAT.

I got to meet up with Clay, had a great time shootin the breeze with him and lots of other folks, and got to spread the word about this site a good bit. Missed John Dude and his crew, its not the same without ya JD!

And to echo the sentiments already expressed here on the new CD, WOW is right! I never pre-order since I can always get a signed copy at these acoustic gigs, so I was a little behind the curve on listening, but again, WOW. Can't wait to hear these songs live. LOVE "I Believe". Im a sucker for the slower, anthemic tunes like that a la Brighter Days, Lochloosa, Long Way Home, etc... I see this one fitting right in along those lines.

So yeah, GREAT little "pre-game show", BRING ON BLACKWATER!

Its up! Sometimes it takes a day or two to show up in the search, so heres the direct link: http://www.archive.org/details/JJGM2008-08-26.AKG481.flac16

I didn't edit out the crowd between songs, Im a completist like that, so be careful, the applause gets a little loud.

I hope ya'll enjoy it, I'll try to get the video up on youtube tonight...

Sounds great!

Is that a 12-string guitar he's playing?

Geez, you guys talk in code. Personally, I think you guys are using the board to clandestinely plan to blow up Britney Spears new CD before it ever reaches the streets.

To answer DABoccio's question, I don't know nuthin 'bout music, but I know what I like. It di'nt look like no 12-string to me, but keep in mind I never learnt to count past 10.

Nope, it was a regular 6 string.

UHollis, I DID check the "allow derivatives" box when I submitted so I'm not sure whats going on. I've been wondering WTF is going on there, waiting for them to pop up. In the past it took a little while to create them, but not this long.

Is there any way to go back and tell it to do them, after the fact?

Oh and we need to tone it down, Clay is on to us!

there could have been a lot of recent uploads and its in the queue. if you go back into your edit functions, it will show you that last window again, and you can make sure the box is checked, but then it gets thrown back to the end.

or the derivative program is in overhaul.

who knows

Are you familiar with CD Connection? I clamped to the stair railing probably about 10-15 feet from the PA speakers, in a DIN'ish config. (I set them DIN, then squeezed the angle in a little to point at the PA's...

Clay, did you get a pic that shows my mic setup?

never been there. i just thought it sounded like you were right up front in front of JJ because the guitar sounds cystal clear and vocals are weaker in the mix. but the crowd noise through me off and know that you ran cards. sounds good.

yeah, I thought the same thing about the vocals, thats actually how it sounded in the crowd. His vox weren't coming through as strong as the guitar...

There's all that goddam code again. Perhaps it's not Britney Spears. Perhaps, instead, ya'll are planning an all out assault on polka in order to eradicate it from the world. I'm on to you. I'm going to contact the U.N. and tell them to get in touch with CRAP. (The Conference Representatives and Associates of Polka.)

Yeah skot I think I got a couple shots that include your setup. I know I got a dandy pic of the side of your head (now I have one to go with the back of your head from New Year's. Did you know that your ears are different sizes?)

I'll pop up the pics later tonight.

Ha! That bit about the Polka gets my vote for post of the week, barely nudging out Jimbo's quote "drank more gas than Fay dropped rain"
