I was just reading the Fog City Records website and saw a posting that states:
MOFRO PERFORMS W/ SYMPHONY - AGAIN! Yeah u right. MOFRO will be backed by the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra for the third time, at the beautiful Jacoby Symphony Hall in their hometown of Jacksonville on Thanksgiving weekend (November 24, 2006). The orchestra will play an overture of MOFRO material (the score has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Music), and then accompany the band for a set. Other high-concept surprises are in the works for this evening. Recognition of this sort is a major accomplishment for any songwriter and any band, and we are very proud of JJ and MOFRO.
Very interesting!! I have not been able to find anything about Mofro on either the Jax Symph site or the Pulitzer site. Does anyone know more about this lil nugget?
P.S. Clay, does this fan site have a search function?
Wow...you don't miss nothing do you AA? That's first I've heard of it. No search function, but thanks for asking. I think I can add one...hadn't thought about it, I'll check it out.
Yup Clay, I'll back you with that WOW! Ashley is turning em out with the info. Nice job and keep it up. That would be a great achievement for JJ and the band. Not only that but would give them much needed attention. My only info on that you two probably already know is when they played with the Jax Symphony a while back at Magnolia Fest. By far one of my favorite downloads on the Archive. If you don't have it, haven't heard it, or just plain forgot about it, it's a must have for a Mofro Fan. Can you imagine the new record with the Jax Symphony backing the guys? Double WOW!
God damn, the thought of that concert gets me excited and if that is the case, I wanna be there! "Night becomes Day, I'll find my Way!"
Along with Skam in the Orange Blossoms post, it's hard to describe what this new album feels like, how good it is, and just where JJ is taking the band and his talent to a new level. My 2 cents are simple yet sum it all up, just a lyric from JJ does it- "I'm a Believer!"

Mofro for life in Arizona The Rhythm Room is exactly that when the boys are kicking it here. "Walking on Moonlight in the Day."
Whoops, read that wrong the first time. Probably just overly excited with the album and the new tour, was getting ahead of myself. That was back in 2006. I remember that when it happened then, which was right before Country Ghetto. I thing Magnolia Fest was in October of 2004, the one that is on the archive. Haven't heard any taping of the one in 2006, but sure would like to. Don't know if anyone has it out there. Still think that would be one hell of a combination if JJ and the boys kicked it with Jax Symphony Orchestra one more time, especially with the style and arrangement of Orange Blossoms. Ok, so I extend my little curtsy to y'all. Yeah, I'd love to hear/see a show like that!! I will check out the archives fo' sho'!
I hope someone else can shed some light or make a little discovery about this. I know there are some serious MOFRO insiders on the board!
I think a search function might be cool at some point. I wanted to do a search for "Pulitzer" to see if anyone else had mentioned it anywhere on the site. Would have done me no good though, as I now know.
And I want to reiterate what y'all said that the guys are doing some amazing work with Orange Blossoms. It really is perhaps the best album I have ever heard. It thrills me to no end. And I can't wait to delve deeper into the music (school started the same day the album came, so I have not had a chance to listen enough!). I also cannot wait to see these songs performed LIVE! I Believe is indeed exquisite. And The Truth is really grabbing me. Just scratching the surface of the goodness on Orange Blossoms.
P.S. JJ Grey, if you are reading this, I bought the cutest hummingbird earrings in Santa Fe -- made of all kinds of stones. They remind me of the OB cover. I wonder if it might be a good idea for the merch folks to create some jewelry!!!!!!!
Hey antsyashley, search for A. Paul Johnson or Xtreme Classical Volume 1. This is where the Pulitzer came from. It is an album that has the Jax Symphony Orchestra playing an arrangement of Mofro. It's a company or guy that produces albums that collaborates with various rock artists and turns them out with an Orchestral arrangement. If I remember, it's called the Apollo Project, but the first volume has the first track under the name Mofro N' Mo. This has the arrangement with JJ and his music, mainly a arrangement of Brighter Days. It's well done and sounds good, but the archive cuts of Magnolia Fest have the vocals from JJ and the live sound that is unique. Enjoy. ---------- Delerious Tyme

DT, you continue to amaze me. If it's Mofro, and it's to be found, you'll sniff it out! Good job my man!!
NOTE to Antsy Ashley: You're really starting to be a pain in my ass now. Wanting a search feature...who do you think you are...? A Mofro fan???
Just to make YOU happy, my dear, I have done just what you requested. The Google Custom Search does a search of the fansite first, and if it doesn't find what you're looking for then searches the web.
Happy now AA? Is that possible??
Ya'll I just like to poke fun at Ashley. It was actually an excellent suggestion (even though it did take me about 5 hours of time to figure it all out and then had to load it up on the site page about 20 times before I could get it to fit! But that's okay Asnstly--anything for you.)
Right now it's just on the message board page but I'll add it to some of the others when I get a chance.
Suggestions are always welcomed (even from Antsy Ashley although she really is starting to be a pain...)

Ok, you've got me giggling, Clay! Glad I can crack the whip and you'll do anything for me!! Thanks so much! If you happen to get the listings of what people are searching for, don't be surprised when a string of strange items appears....
And thanks to DT for that info! I'll do some looking around. Aren't Mofro fans the best folks on earth??
Ash, anything for you...but keep the whips to yourself. Tried S&M, didn't like it.
Yes, actually, I can look at the search strings but only if I'm a) really bored or b) on seriously good drugs and need a laugh. Otherwise there's not enough time in a day to look at most of the data available!
And yes, all joking aside, Mofro fans are the best!! ---------- MofroFan1
