There are a few questions around the board in different posts so I thought I'd try to bring them together here.
I don't know St. Aug. all that well except some of the touristy shit, and the shops and all the old district across from the fort. But I haven't spent much time there since I was a kid really. Last year my wife and I stayed close to "home" and didn't venture far from our hotel.
(I've never been to the gator farm; I'm a Florida native, I've seen my share of alligators.)
Speaking of gators, some folks want to know a good bar near the Amph where they can go and catch the first part of the Gator game before the concert. I think it's at 12:30 Sat afternoon.
Someone asked for any recommendations of places to go Friday night if they ain't going to the show at Cafe 11.
I'd like to know where to find a good mom and pop seafood place; I like to experience the local culture whenever possible! I've been to Saltwater Cowboy's a few times, and it's good but I ain't looking to spend that kind of money. There's a little restaurant at Matanzas Inlet that's pretty good--been there done that.
Anybody in the know out there? Skotdee jump in here... ---------- MofroFan1 "When I get to Ybor City all them women gonna treat me like a king."

Skotdee you are the shit! I KNEW you'd come through for all of us. Geez, I'm a 5th generation Floridian and I feel like a complete dufus not knowing St. Aug that well!
Okay, I've been to the fort numerous times since I was a kid. And I've spent times on St. George St.--and you're right it is pretty cool if you can ignore loud kids, and old men in white socks and sandals.
My trophy wife is such a beer snob she will LOVE Aleworks.
All super stuff Scott--if there was money in it you'd be a great tour guide of the area! (Oh, I noticed you left out the Gator Farm.) ---------- MofroFan1 "When I get to Ybor City all them women gonna treat me like a king."
thanks Clay! I really didn't mean to leave out the Gator Farm, it was late and I had to wrap it up. Even though us Floridians have seen plenty of Gators, people from elsewhere may have not and by all means you should check this out. As well as tons of Gators, its actually a full zoological park with lots of other wildlife as well.
So yea, add the gator farm to the list. http://www.alligatorfarm.us/
While yer at it may as well throw in Ripleys believe it or not, the fountain of youth, Marineland and Anastasia state park. Theres plenty to read up on those over on the BSR site. I didn't initially include those since they're the "obvious" tourist traps, but they're still worth seeing.
Scott, I like the part best where the guy dressed in garnet and gold and face paint and shit comes out and the gators eat him.
I went to Ripley's when I was a kid a few times, and went back maybe 10-15 years ago. I couldn't believe it.
(Groooooaaaannnn)Bad jokes aside, it's entertaining in a touristy way, and does have some reallty interesting stuff; it's one of things you gotta see once to say you've been there.
I drank from the Fountain of Youth. Didn't work.
Thanks again Scott for the good stuff. ---------- MofroFan1
