so i listened to Orange Blossoms (the song, not the album) on MySpace last night and immediately added it to my page. so can't wait for October to get here.
definitely different than the live cut from 2007. Both very nice, very smooth, and just flat out groovin'. This album is gonna be stellar... JJ and crew really have it going on.

Mofro for life in Arizona The Rhythm Room is exactly that when the boys are kicking it here.
Yeah, I dig the simplicity of the acoustic version he did at the radio station, but shit, the depth and richness to the studio cut is just blowing me away.
What do ya'll think will be the first single that Alligator is going to push? Seems obvious to say that it'll be "On Fire" and it probably is, because that's what they're playing on their jukebox.
But, to put my conspiracy theorist hat on, maybe they're just teasing us with On Fire.
Of course that would leave "Orange Blossoms" and since it's on Mofro's MySpace page, it would be a good guess.
I dunno.
"Ybor City" sure has me intrigued. For those of ya'll that are unfamiliar with Tampa, Ybor City was an area of Tampa that was settled in the late 19th Century by immigrants from Cuba that found the area ideal to import tobacco and make cigars. It thrived until the 1960s when it fell into urban blight with crime, etc.
In the 1990s it re-emerged; the city brought relief to the housing and crime problems and helped area businesses that wanted to come in.
What happened then was that it turned into Tampa's entertainment district. Nightclubs, restaurants...you know the gig. And the old atmosphere is pretty cool as a juxtaposition to the party crowd. And it is a party crowd til 3 a.m. every weekend.
So, Ybor City started as a small town on the outskirts of Tampa (now it's a part of Tampa) as a place where Cuban immigrants lived in a tight-knit community all within walking distance of 30+ cigar factories. And now it's a party district where you can dance the night away or just hang out on the street and watch pretty people in their party finest.
So, being a resident of Tampa for longer than I've lived elsewhere, I find it intriguing.
Got me. But from the songs I've heard I see now what UHollis is talking about on the post about the Nashville show...JJ's amped about it. Everything I've been able to pick up seems to indicate a grooving, little more funky record than Country Ghetto, and some music arrangements that'll blow us away. I think they've taken it to the next level for sure ya'll. I know that sounds like rhetoric, but when we hear the record I think we'll see that it's a fact! ---------- MofroFan1

Wow, it's a funky version for sure. Makes me want to hop up and dance!! I am on pins and needles awaiting the album.
I agree about being intrigued by Ybor City. When I lived in St. Pete, we went to Ybor quite a few times. Reminds me a bit of Bourbon Street in New Orleans. I am sure JJ has something to say about it.
Everytime I listen to Orange Blossoms off the myspace stream, I can just imagine how bumpin that song is gonna be LIVE. When JJ starts to scream and get into at towards the end, his voice is gonna tear the walls down to all these clubs across the country.
On Fire is the funkiest jam too, thats gonna be a hot one to groove to.
Cant wait for NYC and Boston in October! and of course the holiest of days ...aug 26th
