The Alligator Records site (linked in the news section) lists JJ Grey as playing "Lead Vocal, Lead and Rhythm Guitar, Sitar, Pianos, Clavinet" on the new Orange Blossoms album. Have we ever heard him play the sitar before? This should be amazing, to say the least.

Hey ants...I think he played it on one or both of the first albums but without getting my ass up and going to look I'm not sure.

You wanna make a bet on who will come in with an answer first? IMHO, the best options are Delerious Tyme, UHollis, TN_Cracka, Bramwell, Juniorfoundhishead, and Tox. I'm betting on UHollis; wanna bet against him? I'll make it easy on you...a dollar to a donut (I'll mail you the dollar, but if you lose you can buy me a donut someday when we meet, uh, don't mail it, please--I like fresh donuts!)

Hahaha, I'd totally take you up on the offer if I thought you were incorrect! How 'bout we buy each other a drink when we meet, anyway? We're both old enough ;-).

No sitar on the first two albums

I can't for the life of me recall which song/s he said he played it on for OB.

We were all floored when he dropped that little nugget on us the other day. "Oh, and I played the Sitar on ________."

"WOW"

UHollis, you keep coming through pulling out all the stops. How can you say you aren't the man. I understand being humble, but you flat out have all the knowledge about JJ and the boys. I wouldn't be surprised if JJ doesn't start asking you questions about anything Mofro.

With that, guess I will ask a question or two. By the way, I am the one on the archive who asked you about the original version of Lochloosa. The one that was played in Chicago, 2001, the very beginning. You ever asked JJ about it or know of anything other than when they played it back then? Granted the album version and what it's become is classic, but with him pulling up SDK and DD from the past, why not bust out some old school Lochloosa, "where the trees meet the sky.."

Also, what do you know about pre Mofro, i.e. Faith Nation? JJ and Daryl being a little harder rock and JJ really showing what kind of pipes he has.

You're still the man UHollis, it's hard to deny..

"and now I pray the Blackwater rolls from Florida Bays,
all the way, to Lochloosa I know...."

The Rhythm Room is exactly that when the boys are kicking it here.
