6/27 EDIT: SOME OF THE INFO BELOW IS NOW OLD. AS OF TUES 6/25, SOME HAVE SOLD OUT, OR THE RATES HAVE INCREASED SINCE THIS WAS ORIGINALLY POSTED. I HAVE EXTENSIVELY RESEARCHED HOTELS IN ST. AUG BEACH AND WILL POST MY FINDINGS OVER THIS WEEKEND.
Is it just me? For Blackwater Sol Revue last year, we didn't make reservations until mid August. Rooms were easily available and rates reasonable. We stayed at a Hampton Inn, on the beach, just north of Cafe 11. We had a stunning view of the parking lot and the restaurant the other side of A1A. And it was about $120 a night. (It was like another $30 or so to stay on the beach side.)
Same hotel this year I checked on 3 days ago and it was $235/night; just checked again, and it's booked solid.
I'm going to do some extensive research over the next 24 hours or so; I've tagged quite a few on Expedia, but still the rates are a lot higher.
All of these are on the beach or west of the Bridge of Lions either on A1A or just off it.
To get into something decent, you're looking at $140 and that's an all suite condo down in Crescent Beach (about 20-30 mins from the venue.)
Back at St Aug beach there's a mom and pop a couple blocks off the beach/A1A at $72 a night, a Best Western near the beach/AIA at $93 a night, and a Comfort Inn in that same area at $110 a night (some are offering $25 gas cards if you book through Expedia.)
There is a Super 8 at $130. A bloody Super 8 for gawd's sake!! A SUPER 8 AT $130/NIGHT!!! (They are offering a $25 gas card though--but so are a lot of the others...can you say big whoop?)
Then the next up from the Crescent Beach thing is the La Fiesta at $139 and then $169 for the Days Inn and $179 for the Clarion (which is nice and almost right across the street from Cafe 11.)
We like the beach side cause it's easier and quicker to get to the venue. That said, there are plenty of hotels on the mainland side of the Bridge of Lions, and they range from $60/night to over $250. There are also plenty of quaint B&B's in town for those who want to do the "charming" thing.
Another option is camping at Anastasia State Park. You can easily walk to the amphitheater from any campsite. Go to the BSR website for the link to Anastasia.
As for ourselves, we have to go cheap, but have our limits; I've been snooping around on some review sites and will post the results in the next day or 2.
We don't do bugs, mold, mildew, smelly rooms, rooms with potato chip crumbs under the bed, sheets and towels that need to be washed again (about 10 more times), or rooms that are sold by the minute. Hey...here's a question: why and when did they stop putting those little paper thingys around the toilet seat? I used to collect those when I was a kid.
Anyway broke as we is, we want to stay 3 nights, plus, we popped for the VIP tix.
Ya'll speak up and let everybody know what you know that we might not know but want to know...you know?
And let me know if anybody else noticed the rate difference so I'll know if it's for real or if it's just the drugs. ---------- MofroFan1

It’s 2025 and my expenses to keep this site up are just over $800/yr. If you want to help offset my expenses to keep this site up please consider pitching in a buck or 2. Much obliged!
