Anyone know where I can find some mofro guitar tabs? I have figured out a few but have not written them down or post them anywhere. I have War, 6 ways, and mississippi down. Awesome site. Keep up the good work

I've been looking for Harmonica Tabs, but no luck either. I don't know of anywhere there is any sheet music from Mofro. Probably gonna have to just play by ear until something comes out.
I have pretty much played by ear on the harp for all of his songs and could probably come up with some tabs if anyone was interested. They wouldn't be air tight perfect, but definitely get any harmonica player started in the right direction. As for some of the songs I play, or play along on the harp with are:
Lochloosa- pretty much any harp solo version - key is straight harp C and cross harp G
Everybody's - Straight Harp F, Cross Harp C, not hard.
Fireflies - I play it in cross harp G, could be wrong on this, but not that hard to play.
Long Way Home - just started working on playing this, straight harp E, cross harp B
Country Ghetto- Straight Harp G, Cross Harp D.
Junior - Straight Harp E, Cross Harp B
Blackwater - Straight Harp A, Cross Harp D

i'm looking for the piano sheet music to brighter days... if anyone has it or knows how to find it, please let me know (mibattle@yahoo.com) , thank you sooooo much!
I don't have the sheet music for Brighter Days exactly and have looked high and low for it to no avail. I don't think it is anywhere to be found unless you get it from JJ himself. While I don't have the exact sheet music for piano on it, I do have the chords and amd pretty close to completing the album verion of it by just messing around and playing along with the album. I just got in contact with AntsyAshley about giving her what I know on the piano with all the Mofro songs. Let me know if you want me to send you some of what I have as well and I will email you.

what do you have for Brighter Days? I have most of it, but not complete. Let me know and maybe we can exchange what we have to get it down. I have already sent what I have for Brighter Days to Ashley and Mibattle. I have alot of other songs figured out as well, mainly from the first three albums, but have a few on Orange Blossoms as well. Orange Blossoms, I Believe and Dew Drops I have down, working on the others. Would love to get what you have for Pray for Rain. I'll try and save everything I have and one of these days I'll give it to Clay to maybe post up on this site for everyone to enjoy. Thanks UHollis, you're still the man.

For those of you looking for Guitar Tabs like Junior posted on the other thread, he has Orange Blossoms listed as D-C-G which is right on.
Here is I Believe if anyone is interested.
A-E-D-A-E
Play that throughout the entire song. Only changes will be to drop the E at the end when your bridge to the chorus and vice versa. The intro does a quick A-E-A right before JJ starts the first verse, but other than that, pretty simple.
Dew Drops is alot like Lochloosa, just use G-F-C all the way throughout as well.

Thanks Junior and thanks for the info on Ybor City. It's played in the key of F if I'm not mistaken? What about Everything Good Is Bad, do you have the chords for it?

Im not the best with chords other than standard chords but "EGIB" starts on the 8th and 10th frets. It's 3 chords. Using your 1st, 3rd and 4th fingers. I'll write this out the long way but it starts...with your 1st finger on the 8th fret A string with your 3rd and 4th playing the D and G Strings on the 10th fret.
Then move down to 6th and 8th frets same position as the first chord and follow up with moving it up to top E/A/D Strings.
How confusing is this?
I need to learn basic essentials of guitar, never had lessons but have been playing for 8 years and know what I know all by sight and sound. ---------- and thats how junior got his head put out
Well junior, I got a few more OB songs figured out over the weekend. A few of them I am 100% sure that I have them tabbed/chorded right, the others I have a good idea and am just missing a few little details. Hopefully these help you and anyone else interested to play along. Enjoy.
Dew Drops – a long time favorite
Beginning/verses are simply chords G – F – C The chorus goes as such G – Bb – C On the bridge or harp solo reverse the chorus and play C – Bb – G Final bar where JJ fades it out reverts to the G – F – C
I’m 100% sure this is dead on.
The Truth
Begins with C – E – F – G for a single bar but then JJ switches it up to the Am – E – F – G for the verses. He switches back to the C – E – F – G for the chorus. The bridge part where JJ sings ‘Day after Day…’ it goes Am – F and ends the bridge with the addition of the G. So Am – F… Am – F… Am – F – G and then right into the chorus.
I’m 100% sure on this one too.
She Don’t Know
I’m close with this one. Pretty sure the single notes to begin are a simple full step up of G – A… G – A… When it gets to the verses or chorus, it uses the chords C – D – A. That’s pretty much all I have with this but there isn’t much else to this song. I will post with any additions or changes later if I find any.
Everything Good Is Bad
This one is a simple three chord drop down and reverse back up all the way throughout the song. I haven’t figured out whether or not it is the same chords both ways but am pretty sure that the drop down is F – Eb – Bb. When I have the time to work on it next I will figure out whether it is the reverse on the way back up or a different sequence of chords.
That’s it for now. I will say that these songs are a ton of fun to play and jam to. I can see what JJ is talking about by saying that the songs all take on a new identity when they play them live because they are so easy to add that personal stamp or vibe to it without changing the song or the feeling of wanting to get up and dance. Enjoy.
---------- Delerious Tyme
Mofro for life in Arizona The Rhythm Room is exactly that when the boys are kicking it here. "Walking on Moonlight in the Day."
I'm 100% sure that the chorus and main chords on the song are simply C - D - A. JJ plays within those chords throughout. The simple step up part I haven't quite decided whether or not it is just a G-A or when I messed around with the fifth steps and it seemed pretty logical considering that would follow the C - D chord progression and played a CG together and DA together for the step up. Sometimes it sounds right, sometimes it doesn't. But either way, I think both work and the chord tab is definitely accurate.
Enjoy.

Here are a couple of new tabs that I finished up figuring out over the weekend. I have all of OB pretty much tabbed out, just need to take the time to post it. Here are two that I previously had not posted.
On Fire
Such a great bass line, beat and it’s so simple. It always seems like the simple songs turn out to be the best ones; best to dance to and so much fun to play.
It’s simply single notes F – G – Bb Play around with those to get the rhythm and start jamming. Easy to mix it up or play exactly the way JJ does.
Higher You Climb
Also a pretty simple song.
Opening/Chorus – C – Eb – F and reverse order F – Eb – C
The bass line for the verse is Eb – F – C repeated throughout. I play it just single note instead of chord for this part. The opening/chorus I play chords but can be played single note as well. Just adds more depth with the chords for that part of the song.
To end the first verse, there is a bridge that goes Eb – C repeated. It is duplicated later in the song, but after you play it you will know where it fits.
The bridge at the end of the 2nd verse changes up a bit. This is the part where JJ sings ‘Rolling on your boys cause you say you’re getting paid” uses this line – G# - G – G# - F Just one time, no repetition. Once done it goes back to the bass line and switches to the chorus.
At the end, the horn section does a variation on the chorus like this
C – Eb – F – Eb – C – Eb – F – Eb – Eb and repeated. At the end of 8 bars, they transition the last bar after hitting the second Eb it jumps to the G# - Eb – F – C – C and right back to the repeated line. They do this transition two times and finish the song in the same sense of replacing the last bar with the G# but creates the finale by jumping down to a forceful F – C.
Hopefully I explained that ok, if not, let me know or if you have any questions or corrections.
I will post The Devil You Know and Ybor City when I get the chance to post next.

Thank you Delerious Tyme! I have a lot tabbed out as well that I need to get posted. I will work on that ASAP! We need to get a nice little database of Mofro tabs going on here, for sure!
Thanks guys, good to hear what I have tabbed out is working for you.
I hear ya Bramwell, when I get what I have onto my computer and with the lyrics, I will either start a new post for all of it or I will get it in the format that makes it easy for Clay to post it as a section instead of getting lost in the message board. Doesn't take much more than a day or two and a post on this board gets shuffles into the past pages, which is awesome. Just goes to show how Clay's site and hard work have really taken off.
If you guys have any corrections or additions to what I have posted, I would love to hear them. As for Stagger Lee, I will work on that for your Junior. I've been tabbing out all of Orange Blossoms and refining it as of late, so I haven't had a chance to get to the covers, but I will probably have time this weekend to get it down. I will try to post it on Monday. Thanks for bringing that up, cuz I've been just working on Orange Blossoms so much that I forgot about the covers and Hurricane. That gives me more to work on. :)
Wish I was out there on the east coast and at all the shows with all of you guys. Sounds like everyone is having a blast and because of Mofro, has made friends to remember. Very cool. The site is uniting Mofro fans from all over. JJ is smiling like crazy somewhere thinking about where this site has taken the band and his music. I'll just have to feed my need for Mofro music with downloads and playing it on my own. Patiently waiting for them to return to the Rhythm Room... ---------- Delerious Tyme
Mofro for life in Arizona The Rhythm Room is exactly that when the boys are kicking it here. "Walking on Moonlight in the Day."
They'll get out there Delerious Tyme, or maybe close enuf for a road trip--I'll hope for you.
I can't say thank you enuf to all you guys for all the work you've done on this. One of my goals is to have this site serve the desires of fans across the spectrum--whether it be young ladies that want to see hot pics of JJ, or guys that want to share tabs or talk tech-talk about taping--and your contributions to this are priceless.
Regarding where to put them, from analyzing the site data I see where we get a lot of people that search for Mofro tabs, but depending on the exact keywords/key phrase they use they come in on any number of threads and seldom go to the other--I think we have 3(?) So great idea there DT to consolidate them somehow and make it easier for everyone to find in one place. ---------- MofroFan1

I'm not worried out them getting out here. I feel pretty spoiled from when they made it out here 5 times in less than two years. I've always thanked JJ everytime for making the trek because I know it can't be easy nor very fun to live out of a suitcase, especially the way our boys do it. Of course, JJ doesn't skip a beat and brings it every time. There are not many bands or people out there who can do that, which I think speaks for the character of JJ, the band, and everyone involved with them. From Danny O. on down to the fans posting on here about meeting each other at a concert, traveling cross country for a show, and having a place where we can find everything we wanted to know or have about Mofro, instead of searching the internet day after day with nothing to show for it. That alone speaks volumes as to what JJ's music inspires and the type of person that follows it. It was always there, this site just gave it al the tools it needes to expose itself.
Clay, as for the tabs, would you rather we put together something for all of the songs in the text format so you can easily put it up on the site as a seperate entity or leave it on the message board as we have it now with links? If not those, any idea you have or want to try I would be willing to give it a go. Anything that would give you what you want in terms of tabs on this site and the easiest way possible to provide it to you, just let me and Bramwell, Junior, and others who have contributed to this know so we can make it a reality.
Thanks Clay, you're the best.
P.S. you get any sleep anymore with the site getting so big, going to all those concerts, being married, having a job, and just living life?
---------- Delerious Tyme
Mofro for life in Arizona The Rhythm Room is exactly that when the boys are kicking it here. "Walking on Moonlight in the Day."
Thanks DT for your praise. You're too kind. It's all my pleasure. Sleep? Life? Whazzat??
I think the best thing would be to get all of them in Notepad and then I can create a page to put all the tabs all in one place. If someone wants to post more they can do so on the board, then I'll transfer over. I want to leave all the posts up because, depending on keywords, the search engines pick up on the threads. I'll just put a message on each that there's a main page with all tabs.
That works for me and ditto on keeping the posts up to keep the traffic flowing towards the site. Even if we get everything you want all tabbed out and on a different area, the search engine might still pick up the post and lead the one searching to the site and ultimately the tabs in one way or another.
I will work on getting what I have into notepad and just keep pounding them out until there is nothing else to tab. From the sound of JJ on WWOZ, he might have newer stuff coming out here in the future that I won't have to worry about running out of songs to tab, that would be heaven...
I will probably send you one to start off and see how it works when it is put up on the site. I have tabbed pretty much everything with the key above the lyrics to help anyone playing it with timing, so the location or spacing when it is put onto the site might be something to look at. Once I know what works I can use that format and fire away.
Thanks alot for your help and quick replies for all of this. Can this site get any bigger? Quite the growth in a little over a year, can't wait to see what's next...
---------- Delerious Tyme
Mofro for life in Arizona The Rhythm Room is exactly that when the boys are kicking it here. "Walking on Moonlight in the Day."
That all sounds great DT, I think we're both on the same wavelenth. I'm tied up all next week so don't rush!! Thanks again for all your hard work. Without your help as a sounding board and all the contributions you've made here, I indeed should be thanking you. You've been with the site from the earliest days and your help to me has been priceless.
To everybody--as I've said before, I'm just supplying the vehicle, y'all are the ones who make it go.

Well junior, I didn't quite get Stagger Lee tabbed out over the weekend. Got started on it, but still have a little ways to go. I will have it soon for you though, I promise.
Here are two that I have had tabbed for a little while but had yet to post them. They are pretty simple, but both great songs and I have not seen them tabbed anywhere else.
Goodbye
G - Dm chords for the verses, drop down from G to Dm
The chorus jumps up to the F - C and then right back down to the G - Dm. Pretty simple to play, just play along to the album track to get the timing and you're all set.
Pray For Rain
In the Key of D - The guitar part is played with the single notes within each chord. Play along to determine which and use the chord progression as follows:
D - G - F - G - D
The parts where there is not the verses, i.e. the bridge with the Harp solo and chorus by itself, just take out the initial G and follow as such
D - F - G - D
The harmonica part incase any of you are interested is played cross harp on the G harmonica.
It's tabbed as such - (-123) 4 -4 3 -3 (-123)
- means draw and the (123) means to draw on all three at once. Throw in some vibrato and you will sound just like JJ. Enjoy.

Junior - Hopefully you are still checking in on these posts. I got Stagger Lee for you. Either I've been working to hard or losing my mind because I made the tabbing of three songs way harder than they were. I tabbed out Stagger Lee, Hurricane, and Gotta Know lately and spent alot of time thinking they were in different keys when it turns out they all use the same chords. Not only that but the simple chords with relation to the C Major. Anyways, here you go Junior:
Stagger Lee - Very simple, it's just the 12 bar blues throughout with the I-IV-V of C-F-G. Hopefully you know what I am talking about with just that, but if not, here it is explained.
12 bars - so twelve bars of 4 count musically speaking.
Each note listed here is played as the chord and think of it as a bar. So Stagger Lee goes as follows:
C - C - C - C - F - F - C - C - G - F - C - C and repeat.
Note there are 12 bars there. Play along with a recording and you will have it in no time. On guitar, if you want to spice things up, you can always throw in the relative minors blues scale to get the bluesy sound and some soloing transitions.
I will post Hurricane and Gotta Know here in a little bit.
Enjoy.

I am looking forward to going home from work today so I can try out Stagger. I had been playing a ton of mofro on the guitar but over the last week or so, I've been on a Black Keys kick.
Thanks again.
Do we have an actual list of all songs tabbed out?
---------- and thats how junior got his head put out
Not a problem Junior, anytime. Thanks for asking for that song because as I posted earlier, I completely forgot about the covers and the unreleased songs. It gave me something new to work on.
Also, good to hear you have Hurricane tabbed out as well. I will post what I have and we can see if we match or compare to make sure we have it down right.
It's the same chords as Stagger Lee if I remember right. I don't have my notes with me, I'm at work right now, but I think what I had is:
The intro and bridge part is played C - Em - C. Atleast that is how JJ plays it on the guitar by adding the B note. Could also play the CM7 instead of the Em, but I think the Em sounds better and I'm pretty sure that is what JJ plays as well. After that:
C - F for the verses ending with a G - C
F - C - G for the chorus and the chorus ends on F - G
So with the lyrics
(C)Ain't no building (F)tall enough
(C)Ain’t no wall that’s (F)high enough
When (G)God, when he opens his mouth (C - Em - C)
(F)I felt the (C)wind (G)blow in
(F)I felt the (C)rain (G)come down
(F)I felt the (C)peace (G)within
That can (F)never be (G)without (C - Em - C)
Let me know if that seems right to you. I have Gotta Know as well. I will post that when I get back to my notes.
As for a list of everything that I have tabbed out, I pretty much have everything except for maybe 3 or 4 songs. I think Whitehouse, Gal Youngin’ and 10,000 Islands are all that I am missing. I am planning to work on those this weekend. If there are any others that you or anyone else can think of to ask, let me know and I will post them on here for you or start working on them.
I know Clay is working on them with regards to the website and having a place set up for them where everyone can access them outside the message board. That obviously takes a lot of time to get that going and set up, so much thanks once again to him for his efforts. Once he gets it going, I will start pounding out the tabs for him to put up and we can go from there with a pretty good collection if not complete collection of tabs for everything JJ and the guys do.

Well, for some odd reason I am up and about quite early this morning. So with the free time, what better than to post some more tabs?
Here are a few that I just worked on over the weekend:
Gal Youngin’
Basic I-IV-V chords in the key of E.
Simply A – E – A – E with bridges/transitions up to the IV and dropping back down like so, B – A – E then right back to the A – E – A – E and repeat throughout. Play along with the song and you will get the timing and transitions down. The timing is simply a tab/4 count for each chord when on the verses. The bridge/transitions go two count for B – A and then a four count for the E.
10,000 Islands
Again, I-IV-V, but this time in the key of D.
This one goes with the progression of D – F – D – F – G and repeats that throughout the entire song. I’ve been tabbing these out on piano, so guitar players you will just need to figure out the notes within the chords and you can easily play exactly how JJ and Daryl do. With the first D – F, I drop down on the piano and then back up to the D and up to the F – G. This is how it’s played on the album version, so if you are trying this on the guitar and it doesn’t sound right pitch wise, try keeping that in mind when you are playing.
And one that I’ve had tabbed for a while, obviously can’t be left out, but figured I would put in some added tabbing that I have for it:
Lochloosa
I’ve seen some tabs out there of this song and while they are correct, (they are always listed as just G – F – C) they are a little incomplete compared to how I play it. Especially on the keys (piano) the album version (and live version) has a lot more body to it than just G – F – C. So here is something that I think will help you play it along with the album and you will find yourself hitting exactly what JJ is instead of just accompanying him with the simple chords.
Start with the G chord and if you listen, he drops down two after that and back up to the second. I guess if you think of it as stairs, he starts on the third stair with the G chord, drops down (and by dropping down, I mean in pitch, i.e. left on the key board) to the second stair, F chord, then to the first, C chord and back up to the second, F chord. So you play it as G – F – C – F and you hold on the F chord for a beat or two. On the piano, if you just play the notes within the F chord going up in pitch, you will be playing the transition that JJ does before you drop down an octave to the C chord or first step and hold for a beat or two before going up the stairs now to the F and up to the G. Then you transition back right back to the beginning and you can do so by playing the notes within the G chord on your way to going up on octave to the original beginning G chord at the start.
So, in short - G – F – C – F ~~~ C – F – G
Hopefully I explained that ok. If you have any problems with it or anything else I’ve posted, feel free to post a question and I will do my best to answer it.
Enjoy ya’ll

Hey guys I ain't forgot about this. DT sent me a doc to test; I was out of town week before last, got sick at same time, was slammed last week when I got back and just for good measure got sick again. But getting these on a page and organized is moving up my priority list. ---------- MofroFan1
No problem Clay, take your time. We all know how much time and work it takes to maintain such a website, much less, having to deal with life in general. It seems like it is way more than a one man job to keep the website going, but you’ve done miracles in giving every Mofro fan and fan-to-be a resource to enjoy everything about the music. From information to tabs, gathering together with other Mofro fans and posting messages asking for or providing something you always wanted to know about the music, those long days of endless Google searches (something I know all too well myself) are over. Now it’s so simple and so much more productive to hit up the best website on the net to date, www.mofrofans.com.

You're up awful early this a.m. DT. Thanks for the words brother. You've been here with me since damn near the beginning, made me believe in it when I wasn't so sure, and have been one of my biggest supporters. Can't thank YOU enuf.
Anytime Clay. I'm glad to be here from the early stages of this website. Damn glad to see it grow to what it has and can't wait to see it continue to create new Mofro Fanatics going forward. I have to admit, the internet was getting pretty boring until this site popped up. Most of all, glad to see it turned out to be everything you wanted and more when you decided to make this site. It all happened after a concert and the discussion with your wife on the ride home afterwards right? Something to do with How Junior Got His Head Put Out and the variations? Must have been one hell of a concert, but then again, what Mofro show isn't? ---------- Delerious Tyme
