Thanks. Actually I'm pissed because I didn't check my settings and took all these at low res. I took a ton of pics and most of them looked like crap. If you look on the photos page and see the ones from HOB in Jan, THOSE are nice photos. These turned out fine but the quality and depth and color just isn't there as it would be if I'd shot in hi res. What a stupid I am!

But substance wise, yeah there's some good stuff. I'm with gigs that they do capture the energy well. I was the only person (again) with a photo pass--they only let you shoot for 3 songs; I was a shooting maniac. No photographers were there.

I can't believe that no photographers were there. Even tho they limit the number of songs you can still shoot a lot. Ain't like you gotta stop and re-load film or nothing. (Sorry, for you 20-somethings, film is something that cameras used to use to make pictures. It only held like 24 or 36 pics so you had to stop and reload. Still want to know more about film?)

yeah, can't believe there wasn't even a resident photographer, but that makes your pics even more special.
sometimes I miss the 'old'ways of taking pictures. in my circles of alien friends I was always the one with the camera , i have a huge cardboard box full of negatives. gonna buy one of those scanner thingies

I can relate to you Firefly, I ALWAYS had my camera with me, heck, it just so happened that I had it with me when Gregg and I were on our "first date" - New Years Eve 2007 at a party..funny pics when I look back, he was wearing red suspenders!! ..I can remember my first 110 camera....haha

yes red suspenders with a blue plaid button up shirt....longer curly hair....I guess love IS blind, hahhaa!!!

I just have a Canon Powershot SD800-IS Elf. It is very small and fits in my jeans pocket....why - I did research and read customer reviews. it has the usual modes/settings and I just mess around and take lots of photos of the same thing on different settings to get the effect or look I like the best. I just enjoy it so......
what kind of camera dew you use? it seems as if yours takes better night shots than mine....that is my only complaint, it is not meant for long distance night/dark shots

i do the same thing, research and read costumer reviews
my first digital camera was a exilim,it was decent, although i couldn't get any good night or inside stage shots, i almost drowned in my tent at the telluride blues&brews festival 07 and that was the end of that camera
than I used my brothers nikon coolpix, that did pretty good
in may I bought a nikon coolpix, but the newer version,it has a touchscreen,( if you remember the silly ashton kuschter comm)
i'm pretty happy with it, had to fool around with it for a while.couldn't get any good phots of a show until i figured out to just use a different setting and turn the flash off, better than using the setting that was intented for inside dark shots.
sometimes I'm able to zoom in pretty good, when there's enough lights.
some of those shots i have that look 'closer', i zoomed and cropped it afterwards in the camera.
if I'm not happy with the centering i can mess with it afterwards, like a shot with too much ceiling or empty space.
the camera is kinda silly, you can add borders, write on the photo or add hearts and stuff
I think i gotta mess around with the resolution cause sometimes the pics are little blurry
it's a pretty good all around camera, it's small enough to carry in a purse, i would love to have somehting bigger and better but don;t wanna carry it
i had a expensive leica(smaller 35mm) but it got taken in new orleans
if i ever have the cash, I'm getting that again, they also have a digital leica now, pics are amazing

I've seen your photos, you got some amazing stuff, sometimes its just knowing lights, angles to get a great shot, it's art !

FF, when you siad "until i figured out to just use a different setting and turn the flash off, better than using the setting that was intented for inside dark shots"
what setting did you use, I need to figure that out so my night time concert shots come out better. I have used an ISO like 800 or 1600, but sometimes it looks a bit washed out. Thanks, your words are too kins!!

I have a automatic setting but its not always great.
i use the portrait setting and turn off the flash,if there's enough light it comes out pretty good
if the lights are so-so, i use the portrait setting with flash, its hit and miss sometimes.
I have a nightime setting but its too blurry, usually at a show you are not able to hold as still. also have a museum setting, its ok.
than there's a 'too much backlight' setting, with that one i can zoom in closer than with other settings

but the portrait w/out flash gets me nice results, plus i don't like to flash on the band as much

here's something funny,at mavericks clay was standing up against the railing on top in VIP and he was dancing ,soo i was gonna make a little video, I started and was gonna turn the camera so i can fit the whole scene, but drunk me forgot i was holding a beer as well, so when i turned the camera sideways...well...i poured out the beer, the guy next to me looked at me...i looked at him...and said "you didn't just see that...he laughed..I put the camera away and decided to be done with photography before i ruin the camera,LOL

This one SusanFl? I can see parts of a couple people...part of Brandon's head (howdy Brandon, I know you're out there!) and look closely and you can see JohnDude thru the crowd. And then there's the dude that looks a lot like golfer Greg Norman but from when he was younger.

Firefly, when you said above: "red suspenders in '07? surprised that led to a 'second' date, lol"
I should have corrected myself, not '07 - it was 1987.....if he wore red suspenders in '07 I think we would have issues lol!!

Yep, Clay, you are correct, sir. I'm on here many times daily,
Amy (my sister, not my woman, as Firefly asked me at the Jax show...) is right behind me; blond hair, tan hat.

A professional lurker? Yes! Actually that sums it up pretty well.
I enjoy reading all the comments posted here daily; and I've really enjoyed meeting all you guys over the past 1-2 years.
Ten shows for this cowboy since Blackwater Sol Revue 2.
See you in Jax on 12/30...And, I think I may be commenting a bit more...

Some people prefer "looker" to "lurker." I use lurker as a term of endearment, know that for sure! (Plus, looker either sounds like a pretty lady OR a peeping tom/voyeur.) Don't matter none to me. I love all y'all!

Whoo! 10 shows in that time frame is a damned lotta fun. (And he's got a great hat y'all.) And jump on in anytime! You know for sure after all this time that ain't nobody gonna bite.

Oh I was all over the venue that night. First 3 songs in the photo pit in front and then just bounced around.

Observer is good Kimberly but I dunno...it also sounds a little voyeur-ish. Kind of like "...no lady, I was NOT peeping thru your blinds! I was simply observing."
