Hey everyone, Adam here with the Idaho/Washington update. Just had a second to catch you up while I wait for my flight to good ol' Detroit to see some best friends WOO-HOO!! The weather was amazing and the view of the land was even sweeter up in Idaho and Washington. Moscow in the park allowed for a little warm-up basketball between a few of us before the show. McCall took great care of us as well, and Winthrop might have took the cake last night with the great tunes ALL DAY on stage, the rolling hills behind the crowd, and a beautiful river 100 yds from the bus. Oh, and barbie dolls made a cameo on stage (thanks, Richard) and are beginning to take over the world again, if not already! Got some set lists for y'all......

Adam, thanks a giant bucket load for the props, and I do mean the reference to my barbie dolls !! Man oh man, !! We (me and the hat donning Barbie doll wife/Cathy) just got home. We had to stop by her Mother's, and check on our boys, since Grandma has pretty much been raising our youngins, for the past few days, weeks, months, or whatever we can get away with......she's a great woman for filling in for us when our schedule becomes hectic or selfish. As in, did I think much about the boys over the past few days....don't tell anyone..... just know this...the Winthrop Blues Festival was a frickin' BLAST!!!!I got pictures, I got video, I got stories, I got an autographed t-shirt, I got buzzed, I got silly, I got friends, I got laid, and oh yeah... I still got the GUITAR !!! Friends and co-workers were there too. They were frickin' impressed, stunned, amazed, and flat out giddy with getting to meet JJ and some of the guys. Not to mention getting their pictures taken with them, talking with them, getting autographs, and just standing there in the same space, breathing the same air, acting like liquored up teenagers at Christmas! The weather was fantastically hot, the venue was country, and some of the women were under dressed. Not that one of my co-workers(Shawn) was showing any lack of "Country Ghetto" flair, with his long surfing black, white, and blue shorts, no shirt, and his Harley riding boots..... it drove the women crazy !! We met folks who were from all over, some from our side of the state, some from Eastern Washington, some from Denver, and some from God knows where !!!Oh Hell have I got stories, like the murder that took place just after we got ther and dropped off our bags in the little, and I mean little town just down th road from Winthrop. We stayed in Twisp, and a dude was apparently drunk, or something, trying to get into his motel room, had the wrong door, and got blown away by a guy inside....supposedly sporting an AK-47.... WTF...you can't ask " Who is it?" before you start lighting up the joint/town......Geezuskrist people.... I support the right to bear arms, but what are you so frickin' worried about in Twisp, that you got an AK-47 in the room with ya? Who or what is in the room with ya....a big bag of white powder, illegal farm workers and a hooker? Wow ! Anyways, we stayed a fantastic B&B, just up the hill from the "Shoot out at the not so OK Corrall, had a great host, fed us like royality, and made the musical weekend that much better. I will share some more soon, and get the pictures and video up, so that you all may enjoy. JJ and the guys are just too damn cool, and for those who were with us, they have become more than just believers, they are now offically BELIEVERS!!!! Adam, thanks brother, Mofrofan1, JJ told me to contact you about something I want to do for them next month at the Zoo show here in Seattle,so I'll figure out how to contact you, and everybody else out their, let me tell you what, ya'll got it goin' on, to have made JJ, Mofro, and their music a hit, because you can certainly FEEL IT, and as JJ told us, " I sing to the people, not at the people". As they used to say in the old days on t.v. news....'Film at 11:00. Let me get some rest, and I promise I'll get the stories, photos, and whatever else, up real soon. Take care.

Wasn't one of those shows with Blues Traveler? Any chance that they played Ho Cake as normal and in the encore John Popper showed up and sat in for Mojo Workin' and Ho Cake. I will reference the recent Austin show where Popper did stand in for both of those songs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you may be a Mofro-Fanatic. Although, that is assuming that the McCall show was the the one with Blues Traveler.

I know Blues Traveler is playing the upcoming Festival at Sandpoint with MOFRO in ID, but it's always possible that Pooper joined them on stage in McCall too.

Well, now that "jjhitsmysoul" is on here I am feeling pressure to join in this fun. Now when you tell the story of our fantastic evening after the show, don't forget, "I'M THE ONE WHO FOUND HIM!" JJ that is, just standing in the field outside the beer garden all by himself. You're welcome :) In spite of the earlier display with the Barbie doll on the hat he didn't run screaming off into the dark. Instead, as luck would have it, JJ Grey exhibited his true southern gentlemen nature yet again and entertained questions and requests for pictures with fans old (Richard and I) and new (Shelley, Roy, Sean, Kerry). Thanks to the front man and all the band members (and you too LilBowwow, thanks for the set list). See you at the zoo!

A Big Hello and Hearty Welcome to you, Doll Hat!

I too, have JJ Grey-dar, if he's in room or open space that is accessible, my little inner tuning fork goes off big time......according to Clay (MofroFan1), our fearless leader here on the boards, I just may be the cause of added security! :p

Never had Ho Cakes, wouldn't know what one was if I tripped over it. I need to make a list of all the foods JJ lauds in that song that I haven't eaten and give them a try. For instance besides ho cakes, I've never had collard greens....though to my yankee ears, that sounds like a nasty illness not food, like some sort of gasto-intestinal upset.

hahahaha :o)

smoked mullet is devine with or without butter......and you can always make a spread out of it.

Are you "new food" challenged, do you shy away from something because you have never tasted it......will you run in the other direction screaming with your hands up in the air when unusual food presents itself?? If this sounds like you, you may be perfect for my new "Self Help" series. There are 3 CD's for the different stages of food aversions - and yes pregnant women can benefit too! Order now, I will include the "It it me - or does that food smell like it came from some roting intestines" video - a popular dvd. But wait.......if you order in the next 15 seconds I will double....no triple your order, and I will include a heapin pile of white acre peas!!

but act fast......quanities are limited.

That's hysterical Sunny!! Your little infomercial had me lauging out loud!

I'm not really "new food" phobic, I've just never been exposed to the victuals which you describe. I grew up with lots of cultural foods, My mother is of Mennonite descent, so my palate was treated to the delights of Pennsylvania Dutch fare on regular basis....Mmmm-mmmm-Good!

But I do have to admit that I have a lot of.....food eccentricities. I have never ever had a rib or hot wing in my life, I just can't bring myself to eat meat off the bone.

I bet JJ would love to hear that there is a discussion on the fansite about food and the food he talks about no less. I think I remember him saying something to the effect that food is something that ever man prioritizes in life and that goes for him as well. I can't argue considering he has a song about it and a favorite old time Mofro feel to it. Reminds me of the first actual video for Mofro, the Ho Cake that comes with Blackwater the original CD. Came as bonus video and computer data. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it is on the old label CDs and the new re-issued ones by Alligator. Either way it’s a fun time to look back on and for the ladies to see a younger JJ (giggles, I’m looking in your direction):
