We've already touched on this in the pre-party thread, but I figured we should take an official tally...
I'll be @ Mojo tomorrow, then heading over to the show, but unfortunately will miss the 31st. Thank god for the webcast! Can't wait to meet some of ya'll and see others I already know!
Update on Mojo's: I called and they said that at 3:00 we should have the place to our own, then it'll start to get crowded toward the dinner hour, just as we're leaving--perfect!
So, whoever gets there first, tell 'em we got a group of 20 or more coming so we need a biiiiiig table. Me and the trophy wife should be there by 3:30.
Can't wait to see everybody!

One more thing...it's supposed to be dipping down to the mid 40s both nights. Ladies, bring your sweaters; better bring really tight ones cause they keep you warmer. Of course, inside it'll be warm so you'll want to be sure and dress somewhat scantily under the sweater.
I know everything might still be a little hazy, but I am dying for a review of the show last night. I will be with ya'll via my computer tonight. Who wants to watch that damn ball drop when you got Mofro!

Country Ghetto WYLF Santa Claus Wrongside Turpentine Hoochie Coochie Man* Lazy Fo Acre By My Side 6 Ways Lochaloosa Higher You Climb Everything Good Is Bad Ho Cake* Junior** **BREAK Brighter Days Got My Mojo***
JJ on Guitar for entire show. NO PIANO. * Matt Grondin on Guitar ** Matt Grondin on Guitar, Chris Bell on Harp *** Matt Grondin on Guitar, Chris Bell on Harp, Eugene Snowden on VOX
That is somewhat accurate above. One of the regulars will have to confirm.
Hey! Show was fantastic. Still trying to clear my head from the fog, and my ears are ringing! It was so fun to meet all these great people. And JJ and the boys were kicking hard! Yeah, Danny, that setlist looks more accurate than the printed one. Dirtcracker, I am pretty sure I've heard Wrong Side before, but I was dying to hear Santa Claus and Brighter Days! It was a two-fer!
This show was so full-o-jam! Fantastic playing and good spirit! I'm not gonna write much now because I gotta get over to Bukkets! Oh yeah, Inca Maya rocks the house! ---------- Life is full of temptation; it’s hard to be strong!
Well, I'd like to chime in on how awesome the 30th show was, but as Liz so appropriately put it, SKOTDEE GOT FUCKED UP! Beyond ALL recognition. Won't get into details, but it was ugly. I'd like to apologize to any of ya'll that had to see me in that inebriated state. I had so much fun partying with all ya'll that I just got carried away. Learned a HARD lesson about mixing liquor & taping. If anyone sees me at a show again with Whiskey in my hand, PUNCH ME IN THE FACE :) Now, if its after the show, thats a different story... heh heh. HUGE HUGE HUGE thanks to John Dude, Liz & Beaufro for coming to my rescue and delivering me safely to my doorstep. I owe ya'll BIG TIME.
OK enough of that, what I do remember (up until around Jr.) was SMOKIN! Loved hearing Santa Claus again, its been a while. JJ on the voice box during the breakdown was BADD ASS. Sick Hoochie Coochie & Ho Cake as well. Im sure the encore was amazing, but again, I'll have to refer to the tapes. Recording to come soon, I have to do a bit of patchwork to get the whole thing complete... See ya'll in Tampa Saturday night to try this one more time.
PS - How was last night? Needless to say I didn't catch the webcast. Anybody got a setlist? Yeah, I know its early, hope to see a report soon!
Both nights were stellar. No wurlitzer though!? What's up with that? Maybe it needs a tune up or something, but I sure miss JJ's playing on the keys. Adam did a fine job, and it's interesting to hear songs played with just guitar. Hopefully it will be back in Tampa.
I had a GREAT time with everyone, another fine NYE run. Skotdee, Clay & Jen, Ashley & Jeff, Beau & "E", Jody(my surprise from S.Carolina),Jeni & everybody else!!!
Both shows got taped, look for them on archive in a couple of days.
P.S. "UTE IS NOT FROM THIS COUNTRY, THEY DON'T DO SHIT LIKE THAT THERE" (from late/early Wed night)
We need another late night laughing fest like last night! Quality Inn (TAMPA) here we come!

I happen to catch some of the webcast and thought Grondin added a sweet fresh sound to the songs he was on. Im not sayin its dull without it but, the bluesy type solos were a nice touch... ---------- "We eat our grits and we don't mind sweet in our tea"
I don't even know where to begin. Maybe that the cobwebs are still clearing, and my memory is starting to slowly return.
The guys blew the roof off the Freebird. Sit-ins by Eugene Snowden and Chris Bell of the Legendary JC's, Inca Maya's Matt Grondin, Hobex' Greg Humphries, it was sick y'all. I got lots of great pics I'll get up in the next few days.
As for skotdee, he wasn't nearly as bad as he makes it all out. Okay. He was. I've seen a lot of shit go down at the Freebird over the last 3 years. Seeing someone sitting on floor whilst puking into a trash can was a new one for me. So, to second his emotion, yes HE WAS FUCKED UP. But as I told him and will tell y'all, I've been in that shape meself more times than I will admit here, it happens to the best of us later or sooner. AND y'all, he's not at all a mean, nasty drunk. Sloppy, yes. Mean, no.
Love you Scott--that'll be the only time I'll needle you (on the board that is. In person I'll give you shit about it until my last breath. Cause I'm such a nice guy.)
I could go on and on (and y'all KNOW I could) but I got's to cut it short cause I got to get ready for Skipper's tonight (shorthand for take a nap or I'll collapse tonight.)
One last quick thing. To say that the absence of JJ's keyboard started a buzz amongst many there would be an understatement. There was actually some WTF? in the crowd on night 2 when it wasn't there again.
I'll see if I can learn anything about it this weekend and will clue everyone in when and if I do. ---------- MofroFan1
stage is too tight with all those guests and what not for keyboard. i wouldn't expect the keyboard in tampa either.. i like having the keyboard as well but i got to say that i didnt notice its absence during any of the normal keyboard tunes from the FB shows. both shows were high energy and great. hope y'all enjoyed. see ya later gators.
Scott, I offer my apologies -- we gave you a big dose of Jim Beam from the flask early in the night. New rule: Don't buy a taper a drink!! When there are 15 of us throwing love at a taper at a show, that can get dangerous.
Great Freebird run! Very excited about Skipper's!
---------- Life is full of temptation; it’s hard to be strong!
Thank you Danny. Nuf said. It did create a buzz for sure. I've even had a couple or so people email me about its absence, so we all appreciate you jumping in and letting us know.
I do agree the energy was incredible, and it seemed Adam covered JJ's keyboard parts so I dunno that there was that much missing. ---------- MofroFan1

whoa now, I don't want to be the guy that ruins the "buy a taper a drink" rule... Take that back Ash! Us tapers just need to know when to say when. Actually I did say "when", it was just waaaaay to late. Thanks for the love ya'll, glad I didn't piss nobody off. Well, except for maybe the Freebird Staff...
you know what probably did it was breaking the wax of that 1.75 in the mojo parking lot..at 6pm.. ---------- "..they outta outlaw airconditionin' in clubs, let mothafuckas sweat aaaall night looong .."
Good things was going on fo sho! Here are the pics of the first night's show. I'll have the New Year's show pics up in another day or two. (NOTE: There's another thread with reviews and such of the New Year's shows too. We had so much goddam fun we couldn't contain it all in one thread!!)
