On Friday, October 17th JJ Grey & Mofro will perform a free show in Philadelphia at World Cafe Live at Noon ET. It is a live broadcast airing locally on Philadelphia's WXPN www.xpn.org and nationally on NPR Music
The concert series is called "Free @ Noon" and it starts right at noon. It's usually 8 songs live with interview portions in between.
Fans can RSVP for the performance the week of the show by going to: http://www.xpn.org/wxpn-concerts-events-calendar/free-at-noon
They can also probably call the station at (215)898-6677 or just show up.
This performance will be the day after their World Cafe Live show on Thursday night, October 16th. They will be back at the scene of the crime (same stage) for the noon broadcast before they head to New York.
Anybody planning on seeing the Philly show backed by the New York gig will be able to squeeze this freebie in before they head to NYC as well."

Yeah, it's been a bit slow until today! But 1:28 a.m. here on the east coast now and people are drifting off. I think Firefly's still in the cut. It's way too early on the left coast for Kimberly to not check in again. Dirtcracker don't seem to sleep. There's a handful of us keeping the swampwaters at bay so the rest can sleep.
Hello Everyone! I'm new around here and find myself giddy with glee about the Philly shows; I managed to recruit some friends who are Mofro virgins to come on out and see tonight's performance and I am sure that by the end of the evening they will be fans forever:) The World Cafe is an amazing little venue that partners with the U of Penn's radio station WXPN to bring to Philadelphia some of the best live music out there. The room was specifically designed for live music, from the sight lines to the acoustics. It has a full service bar with a wonderful dinner menu and has a seating capacity of 300 or 600 for SRO events. For each performance they usually put together a commemorative menu tailored around the live act performing that evening. I was absolutely ecstatic to learn that JJ Grey & Mofro would be playing there:) Looking forward to an evening with great friends, tasty eats and amazing music and I was lucky enough to have my RSVP confirmed for tomorrow's Free at Noon performance:)
Hey gang, got to listen in today. My net connection bombed at noon tho (damn machinery, grrrr), so I was only able to catch I Believe, Everything Bad and On Fire. I liked I Believe the best.
Big THANX to XPN for bringin this to us. Was happy to tune in since I missed Falls Church 8-(
Hmmmm.....XPN must've stopped the radio feed before they came back out for the encore. I was front & center loving every minute of the performance and the turn out was almost as good as last night:)
STAN!!! 8-) Everythings been good and terrible, but that's OK. I was wondering if you'd be able to make that Sarasota fest on Nov 1, so I looked up how far it is from Liquordale (you still there, right?) and IMO, I think you can make it 8-) It's KILLING me that the fest is so far away from where I'm at cuz I'd really LUV to go. Don't misinterpret the follow, cuz I got big Mofro LUV always, but it would be all about Bobby Rush for me. Mo LUVS Bobby Rush!!!!! I dream of being a Bobby Rush dancer!!!!! Alls I need is a bright pink spandex outfit with lots of bling and some 4 inch heels. I KNOW I already got the moves, I've only been practicing my whole life to be one of two things - 1. A Bobby Rush dancer or 2. A Solid Gold dancer. 8-)
No worries on the poster my friend. It means alot to me that you would do something so nice and think about me. Thanx!
Wow!! You can listen to the show on the NPR site HERE. These songs have grown and enhanced lately! I didn't think it could get any better. Alas -- it does!! Each member of the band sounds fantastic and seems to add a little extra oomph. And I have to say JJ's voice is even better! Did I say "WOW"!?
Oh! Thank you ashley! This is exactly what I needed. I just walked in the door from a "Girls Night Out" that was about as exciting as watching paint dry. My friend proceeded to pound beer, got drunk ridiculously fast and disappeared for an hour & a half leaving me stranded and at the mercy of a horrendous 80's cover band. The lead singer couldn't carry a note across a room in a bucket if his life depended on it! Coming home and finding this clip transported me back to this show and now all is right in my world:)
Alright giggles! Anything to cure the ears from the malady of bad music! Funny thing...last night my mom decided to check out a video online of Kevin Costner being the lead man in a band. Whatever you do, stay away from it!! I don't know who told the man he could sing or play guitar or that he has any stage presence. Poor thing....
---------- They won't mean a thing if you don't live free.
don't know who told him he can act .. speaking of actors gone musical. check out billy bob thornton & the boxmasters

It’s 2025 and my expenses to keep this site up are just over $800/yr. If you want to help offset my expenses to keep this site up please consider pitching in a buck or 2. Much obliged!
